Powerful and strong aren’t the same thing I thinck Azulas stronger I don’t thinck he’s that strong he sometimes is weak in my opinion I thinck he’s weak
Fun fact: In season 2, Azula became a fairly popular character which neither of the creators expected because she was even a worse villain than Zuko. They decided to give her more humanizing moments in season 3 partially because of this and partially because they wanted to give most characters more depth in that season.
Her only 2 Friends betrayed her, Her Dad really treated her just like Zuko, she thought her own Mother did not love her. All of this leads to her downfall.
Blue fire is a sign of perfect combustion between fuel and oxygen, Azula had a blue fire that means she has perfect control between her physical and inner energy IMO she's the best fire bender
The additions of Azula & Toph along with Zuko's redemption arc thanks to Iroh really helped this series become brilliant and magnificent. Of course having Mark Hamill as a main character is just about always a great idea
There was a fourth season planned with her redemption arc but they abadoned it because of the movie. And because Aaron Ehasz is not on board anymore, but only Michael Dante DiMartino in terms of the comics, the quality reduced.
I kinda want to point out that there is only one time we hear azula say sorry, and that after making ty lee cry at the party on ember Island. At that point she shows that she is capable of being normal and not unhinged like we see her in the show.
Azula is one of the characters where the vast majority of fandom supports the idea of his arc of redemption. She has so much potential, personally I would be very happy to see her receiving some love, that she accepts it, that she opens up little by little in that sense, to see her receiving and giving love. She deserves it :c
To be honest. I think Azula's character is written as a warning sign in a meta sort of way. For both those who relate to her, and those who know people like her. Sometimes people like this never change and Azula gives us a brilliant window to look into their thought process and descent into madness. It's tragic for sure, but not irreparable. The problem is, as much as I would love to see her come around, I don't think she would choose it. Iroh wrapped up the entire idology in one sentence: "Pride is not the opposite of shame, but it's source. Only through humility can one find their own peace" Azula won't choose that path...
Life is unpredictable. You never know how things go in your life and what path will lie ahead. Perhaps series of unexpected events may change Azula did the better. There are great fanfics showing Azula redemption. And they are done very well.
I feel bad for her but even at a very young age you could see how wicked, manipulative and psychopathic she is, just like her father. Towards the end of the series you can see her go full blown crazy when she battles Zuko and Katara. She's not straight up evil, she is a complicated, broken and lost girl who just wanted to be loved, but that doesn't excuse her actions
She wouldn’t have listened to Iroh he chose to teach Zuko how to change the fire nation because he saw Azula was following her dad and was gonna turn out evil like him but Zuko was kind and warm hearted like his mother if he picked Azula she would’ve betrayed him and maybe even killed him
Honestly, it’s a situation where it would be harder to save Azula. Ozai payed no attention to Zuko, and always had Azula in his clutches, so there was probably little to no room for Iroh to try to help her. In the comic book, everytime Ursa (Azula and Zuko’s mom) tried to teach Azula right from wrong, Ozai would secretly tell Azula to do bad things again, and praise her for it unlike Zuko who less talented and ignored by his father, so it was easier for him to get the proper guidance from his uncle and mother. It’s sad because Azula was basically screwed being born a prodigy
@@naeshaunedwards7731 And the word "She was born lucky and you were lucky to be born" is just the way of how Ozai wants to "defend" her even though his love to her is 0 and 0x100 = 0. Azula always thought her dad likes her more but think about it, have we ever seen Ozai and Azula have their own "father-daughter" moment? Ozai only likes to compliment her for being talented but never try to bond to both of his children like Ursa did to Zuko. Even Hakoda who haven't seen his children for a long time still can have time to bond with them in Invasion and mostly with Sokka.
I think Azula talking to her mother in the mirror is just Azula reflecting (haha get it?) She already know what's wrong, her imaginary mother is saying she love her, the words that deep down, Azula wanted to hear. That was the conversation she wanted to have with her mother all along, but she never had it... and the she still chose to you know...
Azula is still one of my favorite characters (Ty Lee, Aang, Appa, & Iroh being the best of course) love her clever, snarky lines. She should absolutely get a shot at redemption when the time is right. I really enjoyed this break down of her character and her dependence on fear vs. love..super accurate! Miss this show, excited for the new stuff to come out!

Can we all agree that Grey DeLisle's voice acting really added to the tragedy in Azula's breakdown. It had so much agony and anger that really makes you feel sorry for her.
i feel like her mother did her wrong, every child is different and instead of always scolding her a diff strategy is needed, also favouritism would mess up any child.
Her mom did not chid her blindly, she terrorized and triggered zuko every time….her father was the one who did them wrong by choosing favourites. Regardless, azula herself knew she was intense and had people around her like mai and tai lee by making them fear. Fear and manipulation are her ways. She likes being bad and intense. She may be suffering from some mental illness like what zuko mentioned at the end
Sorry but if she were my kid, Zuko's being my favorite. Azula's behavior as a child was cruel and unusual and psychopathic. She did not want to be nice, much less be like Zuko. Ursa is in the right to like Zuko more.
The sad truth is that by Korras time Zukos family is least known about in canon. While Korra interacted and formed friendships with Kataras as well as Tophs children and grandchildren. Also with Top and Katara. However with Zuko Korra interacted only a few times. Korra never interacted with Izumi in the show. With Iroh II Zukos grandson it was more of an aquitance relationship. The gap between comics and Korra is 67 years. This era is not very well covered. By Korra time it seems Zuko repaired and healed his broken family, however details are totally unknown. Hopefully new movie will shed some light. Also neither is Suki mentioned. Zukos sister Kiyi. She is never mentioned either by Korras time. There are a lot of unanswered questions....
Dang... She her own worse enemy. If she just realize that people try to be her friend instead of thinking they hate her. She could've been one of the best characters and would've become a valuable ally.
I earnestly think she should be at least in the korra legend, saying that it happened to her, a character so well created should not be dismissed that way
It would be great if we had another Avatar series, where one of the villains could be one of Azula’s descendant. Through them we could discover whatever happens to Azula.
Somebody email Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko with a detailed proposal. I think it would work even better as a separate series tbh (like LOK was), in order to give it its own individual character and leave the original untouched. A third animated series could be amazing.
I like how Azula is like, “Family are the only ones you can really trust.” Yeah, say how you can only trust your family as you’re lying to your brother. 😂
It's more realistic this way. Not everyone get redeemed in real life. Besides, part of it is that she's mentally ill... I don't think even Katara can heal her broken mind.
Even if Ursa truly loved Azula as much as she did Zuko (Did she even say goodbye to her daughter?), her approach of simply rewarding kindness while punishing unkindness clearly wasn't enough. Children need to actually understand why such lessons are important, especially if the other parent is only making things worse whether intentionally or unintentionally.
I think for Aula to find redemption, she would need to find a true friend that actually trusts and cares about her. She needs to be shown some affection or all she'll ever know is fear
@@sakhtladka3615 , Exactly, she had opportunities for people to care about her but she wasn't interested in that, only partners in crime. Even friendships she had benefits from.
the authors have done a beatiful job with the redemption arc of Zuko, I hope, even if it wont be easy and fast, that we'll have the end of the story of Azula... (with a redemption, please!)
6:55 i think this was the first to contribute to Azulas breaking point-remember how she earlier stated “ *family and trust* are now important Father” although using this statement as a base to manipulate, she used it as leverage towards building her team essentially. So having the two things testify her and what she stood, it pushed her into exterminate Mai since she was going to use lightning style as her punishment instead of fire style.
There is a reason why Azula is called Azula, Since azula can create blue fire, and the spanish term is for blue is azul, So Azula, thats one of the reasons why she was called Azula besides from her grandfather.

But even after all of that, Ursa love her all along, but she still doesn’t accept it because if loved her, then all of her assumptions and expectations were all for nothing!

Azula haters don’t understand her complexity nor her story and they refuse to look into it. It doesn’t excuse her actions yes but it’s the whole entire reason on why she is the way she is
I hope they will be able to show what happens after Smoke and Shadow. I am happy that Zuko got his redemption arc as he gained patience, forgiveness, and his unconditional love like Iroh and Ursa. I think Zuko could ultimately help here as it is stated despite all the bad times between them, he will always be there for her and loved her unconditionally, something that she had a hard time understanding, but knew deep down. Doing his best to understand and help her with the pain that she is not alone. I hope they can show this soon whether it is a comic or a story or perhaps animated.
I’m not convinced azula can actually be redeemed, even after she gets dethroned, Ozai is thrown in prison, and she has every opportunity to change her ways even when Zuko and team avatar try their hardest to help her she still surprisingly remains loyal to her father and even when she gets free she remains the cold savage individual she is. Cruelty seems hardwired into her DNA and I don’t believe she’ll ever even be able to change herself
Well comics only cover her story up two years after the end of the show. Azula has a lot of emotional baggage. She will not change overnight. It took Zuko quite some time to figure out that chasing his fathers approval will not bring him happiness. There are still decades before Korras time where we know nothing. And in the smoke and shadow I would not say she is loyal to Ozai. She did tell Ukano Ozai is not part of the plan. Perhaps at some point she will change. Possibilities are endless , and her story is unfinished. Zuko telling Azula he will love no matter what did have an impact on her.
I’m pretty conflicted on Azula. Don’t get me wrong, she’s a great character. I do really feel pity for her. But Ozai and Ursa didn’t force Azula to intimidate her friends. They didn’t force her to lie to Zuko, on multiple occasions might I add. They didn’t make Azula abuse Mai and Ty Lee. Nobody else came up with the idea to scorch the entire Earth Kingdom. That was all her. To quote a certain fictional samurai, “The decisions you make, and the actions that follow, are a reflection of who you truly are.” We may be the sum of how our parents raised us, but at the end of the day, our decisions are our own. They may be influenced by the past, but at the end of the day, the choice is yours. Not anybody else’s. Azula may have been seen as a monster (or at least that’s what Azula thought), but Azula chose to become the monster. At the end of the day, I think that’s truly what separates Azula and Zuko. Both were abused in some way, but Zuko chose to eventually overcome this, redeem himself and the entire Fire Nation, and became a better person. Azula never could, she clung to the faint hope of Ozai’s approval, and was utterly destroyed when Ozai didn’t give her any of the sort. She sought approval, but all she got was madness.
I get your point but the way she was raised also influenced her decision-making. Though her actions are a reflection of who she is, the guiding principle behind those actions were first embedded to her by her father's example. Unlike Zuko who had Iroh to frequently steer him to goodness, Azula only had her subordinates with her and Ozai as her guiding light. You have to remember how hard it was for Iroh to get through to Zuko and that was with constant exposure with Iroh plus with the guidance of his mother's memories. Whereas Azula had already decided from the get go that Iroh was a failure and therefore not one to be listened to and her mother who saw her as a monster. She was spoiled rotten by Ozai and was not allowed a chance to change her perspective. She was made to believe that she was entitled to the world. Of course as a kid without anyone significant to her objecting this praise, she had no choice but to believe she is owed as much. You have to remember, she's 14 when the series ended, just barely a teenager.
It really is sad and tragic that the only time Azula ever heard “I love you” from her mother is through a hallucination

Definitely would like to know what happened to azula during the change from smokes and shadows to lok. If only because I want to her find peace. Azula is basically a child solider who never had love before.
I have heard from a shaky source that a new Zuko comic will cover some of that.
Ozai never treated her like his daughter, he saw a valuable asset in her, someone who could earn him victories. She went through abuse too, by the very person she respected the most. I hope we get to see what happend with her between the comics and LoK. It was kind of disappointing to never see or hear about her again.
Thanks
agreed. I would be much happier if I knew that Azula was finally getting the help she needs
You're right. She was literally a child soldier 😭
this is why parents should pretend they don't have a favorite -_-

Fun fact: In season 2, Azula became a fairly popular character which neither of the creators expected because she was even a worse villain than Zuko. They decided to give her more humanizing moments in season 3 partially because of this and partially because they wanted to give most characters more depth in that season.
She might have born lucky but she didn't live lucky...

Sad things. :( I would love to see a redemption arc at some point. Please make it happen. Where she regains her sanity.
I feel like She deserves a better ending not a redemption arc for me it will be stranger. She kinda regains her sanity in "Smoke and Shadow"
This would be an amazing choice for the 3rd animated series (i.e. Avatar -> Legend of Korra -> ???).
I would love for her to never see daylight again.
Her only 2 Friends betrayed her, Her Dad really treated her just like Zuko, she thought her own Mother did not love her. All of this leads to her downfall.
Does her mother love her in the first place?

I hope we will see more of Azula in the next comics and I hope she well get some kind of redemption arc.
I really do hope she finds peace
There was a fourth season planned with her redemption arc but they abadoned it because of the movie. And because Aaron Ehasz is not on board anymore, but only Michael Dante DiMartino in terms of the comics, the quality reduced.

I kinda want to point out that there is only one time we hear azula say sorry, and that after making ty lee cry at the party on ember Island. At that point she shows that she is capable of being normal and not unhinged like we see her in the show.
"my own mother 😢 called me a monster...... She was right of course but it still hurt"🤣🤣
Azula is one of the characters where the vast majority of fandom supports the idea of his arc of redemption. She has so much potential, personally I would be very happy to see her receiving some love, that she accepts it, that she opens up little by little in that sense, to see her receiving and giving love. She deserves it :c
I think Azula could find redemption but she would have to take the first step
Azula can’t she should stay bad forever
Or Koh the face stealer could do something
it's really sad. She thought ozai loved her but really, ozai just treated her like a weapon
Notice how as azulas mental health deteriorates her voice develops a stronger British accent
It's Azulas primary weakness. Every attempt at a Scottish accent just falls cold and bland. She was never intended to be so verbal
Those two adjectives go well together
I hope she recovers from being briish 😭😭😭😭
To be honest. I think Azula's character is written as a warning sign in a meta sort of way.
For both those who relate to her, and those who know people like her. Sometimes people like this never change and Azula gives us a brilliant window to look into their thought process and descent into madness.
It's tragic for sure, but not irreparable. The problem is, as much as I would love to see her come around, I don't think she would choose it. Iroh wrapped up the entire idology in one sentence:
"Pride is not the opposite of shame, but it's source. Only through humility can one find their own peace"
Azula won't choose that path...
I wonder if Iroh actually save Azula with Zuko at the same time. Maybe she will be a great duo with Zuko

Also with Top and Katara. However with Zuko Korra interacted only a few times. Korra never interacted with Izumi in the show. With Iroh II Zukos grandson it was more of an aquitance relationship.
Sad but true.
To quote a certain fictional samurai, “The decisions you make, and the actions that follow, are a reflection of who you truly are.”
We may be the sum of how our parents raised us, but at the end of the day, our decisions are our own.
Exactly
You just resumed her entire character. Bravo !
@@JabamiLain uh. Thanks
@@ianvillie3262 Exactly. She was a teenager but she wasn’t 4 when she made the decision to burn the Earth nation.
