In my update for today, I take a look at the pattern that will hopefully bring beneficial rain to parts of Florida over the coming week.
Plus - more and more data is coming out that suggests we are primed for a very busy hurricane season - it's just a matter of time.

I'm still looking for the right wood to put the map on so I can use push pins.

I did that all the way up until 2017!
      Might do it again someday.

My dad and I have been tracking hurricanes on the same paper map that I got laminated since 1979 Hurricane Season. Hurricane David sparked our interest in hurricanes, so I enjoy going over his house and we track hurricanes together

Mark, watch out for the diamondback rattlesnakes, I saw a huge one sitting next to a cement bench at Devils tower in 1983

I look at this scenario like when the SPC looked at the data days before the April 27th 2011 event. Everything from the CAPE (Capable Potential Energy) to the STP (Significant Tornado Parameter) were off the charts, as James Spann would say. And when I look at the water temperature anomalies for the Atlantic basin, and the Gulf of Mexico, I feel that same type of feeling that I felt then. Yes, it's comparing tornadoes to hurricanes, but things still work the same. The only difference between a tropical system becoming a hurricane, and a low pressure system/trough, with a cold front trailing, is the fact wind sheer hurts hurricanes, and aids tornadoes. And there likley won't be alot of wind sheer to affect these tropical waves when the storms start popping up.

Yep, the longer it takes for the tropical activity in the Atlantic basin to get going the more energy that they're going to have in the ocean when tropical cyclones do form and the better the chance for rapid intensification which already is quite high as expected.

We need the rain so bad I'll literally take a flash flood in Tampa.

Remember though, the soil is hard and it will take time for it to start absorbing moisture. Flooding is almost a definite!

I am not from Florida but I sometimes hear phrases like the Florida panhandle and today you mentioned the Florida peninsula. I know I can Google it but can you explain what area or section of Florida is each, especially since you said you have a geography background? Thanks. Give us a brief geography lesson please.

These models are not reliable really at all until maybe 3 days out, currently the models now take it to Texas, these models the past 4 years are becoming more inaccurate at this point I take it with a grain of salt until 72 hrs out 🤷🏽‍♂️
