Motorweek Retro Review of the 1988 Mitsubishi Galant GS (E30)
Now you know why John always pronounces "Galant" kinda funny!
I do not own this video.
This Galant was an underrated and under appreciated car for what it was; in my opinion, it was a better constructed car and better driving car than the Toyota Camry. The Camry is overrated in my opinion; some of us don’t want to drive a car that everyone else owns.
I've been thinking lately about John's continued mispronunciation of "Camry" as "Cam-Ray" back then, & am now wondering if Toyota told him to pronounce it like that just as Mitsubishi told the press to pronounce "Galant" "Ga-Lawn" for the first generation models.
These were great cars. Unfortunately they weren't appreciated. The Galant had very hard competition with the Camry and Accord. I have a 1991 Galant VR4, and that car is awesome!
I still remember the red Galan back in 1989 my mom rented one and this was when it was already I like this generation way better than the previous generation that I don't know anything about when there was really boxy and when they had come in three cars model.

I hope one day Mitsubishi brings back technology and design as they used to! I used to dream to have a nice mitsubishi now days that I can buy whatever I want mitsubishi line up is boring and generic... MITSUBISHI BRING BACK THE MONTERO SPORT OR THE GALANT BUT WITH NICE INTERIORS!!!
Love the adjustable cluster lights 💕
Very cool car for late ‘80s from to the design to the advanced drivetrain. This must have felt like a space age car among the cheaply made domestics and other small cars.
Mitsubishis have never been known for their stellar build quality, lol. It’s not as if it was a Camry or an Accord… there’s a reason that Mitsubishi is (for all intents and purposes) a defunct auto manufacturer nowadays 😂
@@phantom0456 It may fell out where it was but Mitsu is not defunct as an auto maker; they are still strong on Southeast Asia.
This was an awesome car in it's heyday. The most comfortable car I've ever sat in or driven.
This Galant and many of Mitsubishi’s car from this time up to the early 2000’s looked cool, but their radios and Mercedes Becker radios were among the worst control layouts period.
I owned a GS. One of the best cars I've ever owned. I really miss it.
Great cars but more expensive then a Montero
I am surprised by all the features
