This game is awesome Frank! Loved playing it solo. Thank you for taking the time as a designer to do your own engaging and thorough playthroughs of all game modes. More designers should do the same instead of leaving it up to reviewers. Can’t wait for your next game 🙂
Amazing final boat state with those card goals and perfect fit :D. Also great work on the design of this entire game, though I'm not generally a solo player the pace of this shows real consideration in the design, it's not just an arbitrary goal to beat. From the simple changes like 'drafting' 3 cards of 5 randomly drawn, to all the considerations you now have because of your opponents goals you need to counter, lets you really engage with the game in a fun way without it getting bogged down or feeling devalued as an experience. The worst thing after having finished watching the family/full/solo mode now, is knowing I'll have to actually wait for the game to be produced and delivered, so psyched to play this, awesome work! Truly a really cool design and a great weight, with the family mode still even being fun I feel even for those able to play the full experience, if you just want a more casual shorter play on occasion. Looking forward to other channels playthrough's too even if now all I feel is jealousy :D.
I was very happy with the end boat! It's not often that happens so neatly as you can probably see in my other videos! I'm very grateful you took the time to watch all 3 videos, good luck watching all the others!
My kickstarter arrived a few days ago and have played solo a few times. I really enjoyed both the game and the solo version. I think you have a hit on your hands.
I love your games!!! The isle of cats is fantastic!!! City of kings too!! These games are exactly what It fits perfectly in my taste!! Brain puzzly games with simple not complicated rules!!! Amazing designs!! Well done!! 😁😁
What a great game. Love it to bits. Went into this video to be assured I played the solo correct. So nice to see you engaging into it that much. I have one thing I didn't understand. With the lesson cards you and your sister have in each hands, you counted yourself lucky (1:03:00) in the end scoring as a + 1 over her. But didn't you just get 4 points and she should have scored 12 (3 x 4)? Nevermind... you adjusted it in the final scoring for your sister, still got me confused at 01:03:00...but great win!
Hi Sebastian, I'm glad to hear it! I think in this clip I was referring to the points my sister got for me taking the single card. So I took a +1 point per lesson card, which gave me 4 points. She had a +3 points per lesson card which gave her 12 points, but, it gave her 3 points for my "+ 1 point per lesson card". Meaning that card on it's own scored me +1. Hopefully that helps make sense!
@@CityofGamesHQ Guess that makes your thoughts clear and takes away my confusion. Thanks. Setting up for a new solo play again. Hope and guess you get the rewards you deserve this 2020. Further... I did not know you did City of Kings also. Heard great things about it, but my natural instinct is, it's not up my alley. But will definitely give it a look, as the art is attractive.
Hi, this is because of the purple anytime card that was played alongside the basket. This purple card allows you to place your next tile anywhere, overriding the "has to touch another tile" rule, making this a valid play.
I knew I had to be missing something. Frank plays this game like a Boss. This playthrough is extremely high quality, both high-level instruction and fun entertainment. Thank-you for the clairification and awesome video!
Did you shuffle some standard cards in there too? Can’t find in the rule book when it mentions that. No yellow and purple cards have solo on them can you help please
Hi Abbie, the human player uses the discovery deck (blue back cards) just like in the multiplayer. The solo specific cards are only for the Sister player.

It's such a pleasure to watch you play, Frank! Your enthusiasm is contagious. :)
The best solo run through I've seen! Fantastic job:-)

Mice job!
25:20 question.
Is it legal to place a cat on the opposite end of the boat, 10 spaces away from your nearest cat already on the boat?
