Saw this film, I feel like it is a start, if they made this into a series like a 5 episodes to 7 episodes that's 1 hour long it would have been cooler to see all the characters shine. I feel like they didn't want a 3 hour film. So maybe they'll make a one season series which would be awesome. Would love to see different kids they get every summer which would be an awesome series. Have different kids every summer with some old and some new campers. And maybe volunteers and staff. Although being a camp counsellor myself and in this generation and not the old films that we assume camp to be. I hope they show more of the campers as there's potential. It felt like a pop-up shop more than a grand opening in my personal view. I give it a 7.9/10 as a film, but doing a crossing of a mockumentary and a film to tell a story I give it a 9.4/10 as it earns points of connecting to camps and theatre camps. And the struggles of funding and labor and then having money for emergencies as well promotion.
Im from the andirondacks. I was a queer theater kid; and am now a queer theater adult! This movie meant more to me than almost any other movie out there. It may not be my favorite, but my emotional attachment to it is huge
Have heard okay things about it. Admittedly mockumentaries aren’t my favorite genre on the planet but when they hit they really land. This genre im more curious about the shooting process (because tho a mockumentary may be 80-100 minutes you know there’s so much footage that’s gotta be shot). According to IMDb, 70 hours worth of footage in 19 days
That's odd but this movie was playing in my town a couple of weeks ago. It's gone as of this weekend or maybe last weekend and I'm in California as well. No one was reviewing it and saw no marketing for it so I kinda didn't even consider seeing it when it was available.
Just heard about this week from another UA-camr and then saw the trailer while watching Mission Impossible. I like Broadway and musical and comedy. So, it is sad it is not living up to its potential. I’ll probably catch it, but currently, I think it is only showing in one theater ? Hope to see it with more comfortable seating with wider distribution?
This just came out in a handful of theatres where I am in southern FL. Well done and in depth review but completely disagree. You mention they had a lot of balls they never ran with character decelopment wise. But i think that's the point. It moves so quickly, and there are so many great one liners moving things along. You dont need to really get emotionally invested in anyone. Its just a bunch of theayer geeks making a movie totally trolling themselves and it worked for me. But maybe its the context of today. So many self important, 3 hr long movies. Or action. This film stood out in its simplicity
Thank you for saving me my time and money. Thank you for this informative review. Hope you two have a very nice day. Sending good karma and love your way.
As a former Young American, who entered a totally different life path after attending their summer musical theatre programs in the previous century, had high hopes for this one. Will wait for streaming. Thanks as ever, Christy and Alonso.
This film was poor on so many levels. Branded a comedy, laughed only once. It was turned off by my theater daughter and i asked why. She replied that it sucked. A story that drags on into nothing.
So I went to the cinema to see this on Monday and I walked out of the cinema as it was so boring and the camera choice of random shaky cam and that grainy retro footage and very dry dialogue ..... I haven't walked out of a movie in a long time but I did for this. The fact that Ayo Edebiri is in this and she's drained of all personality.
Saw this virtually at Sundance and I feel like I saw a completely different movie than you two. Absolutely adored it.
That's great!

That's a really good idea to turn it into a series!
I love "Camp" but I also love Waiting For Guffman and the other movies they mentioned. I am looking forward to this!
I adored this movie especially as a big theater person!
That’s great!
I really love this movie! I laughed like crazy! 🤗🎭
Glad you enjoyed it!
Really looking forward to this!
I vaguely heard of this film but i saw Camp when it came out and this movie reminded me of that and according to what you two said I was right.
Well there you go!

Totally agree. I went in with an open mind and loved every minute
Hilarious movie lol.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Sad to hear. The trailer amused me. Maybe it’ll become a cult hit.
Could be!
Good morning Ms Christy lemire, have a wonderful day.
Would love to hear you're insights on the SAG strike happening.
We'll talk about it soon!
I’m extremely curious to hear your thoughts on Sound of Freedom and the controversies surrounding its release!
We talked about it a bit in Tuesday’s news segment, thanks for asking.
Love you guys but the camera is too close
Alonso is recording from elsewhere this time, so we're trying to make it work, but thanks for your feedback.

You may love it a lot more than we did!
@@BreakfastAllDayDoubtful, but we'll see.

That is an unfortunate choice on their part. Ayo is a great talent.
My daughter who's life is performing arts turned it off. She claimed it as boring. This was a college film project that was never polished.
Gee, a Sundance movie didn't meet the hype? You don't say...
