      Lol! Meeeeeee toooooo!
      I've had my e60 535i xdrive for quite a few years now, so today (after seeing that my subscribed to channels had no new content) I just decided to cue up e60 specific content on my TV and let em run on auto play while I do other things. And, when I glanced up to give an Amen to the commentary I saw this Brotha and exclaimed, "HOLUP, NOW!" which brought my Mom and Sister running to see what was sooo impressive on UA-cam.
      My e60 is well maintained and the workers at 2 BMW certified shops I utilize enjoy driving my 2010 535i xdrive e60 even though its still stock...coz, I'm waiting on the plastic things to break before I replace them with upgrades. But, my low mileage e60 hasn't popped any plastic except for the Mickey Mouse flange which I upgraded to aluminum, and my impatience may win out over necessity unlike I had planned.
      I hope this UA-camR begin to upgrade so we can take that journey together.
      I liked, commented and subscribed.

    I'm the proud second-owner of a 2008 535xi for over 9 years now and I've never felt bored driving it. To this day, the car feels "new" to me, and the experience never dulls away. 186,000 km and still going strong. Part of the fun of owning an E60 535i comes from having the N54 platform at your fingertips and the immense power it brings to the table with the right tweaks.
    The E60 is not for everyone: it has its share of problems, but they're predictable and solvable. When my CPO warranty finished 5 years ago, I decided to get my hands dirty and maintain the car myself. At the time, I had zero mechanical experience and never knew how to do an oil change. Fast forward to today, I finished changing the solenoids, mechatronic sleeve and valve gaskets in my transmission over the weekend -- it shifts so good now.

      I wanna do the same thing too on my E60. But it’s a ZF6HP21. What is your transmission code? And is it difficult?

    • @SaroG
      @SaroG 2 роки тому +1

      @@nurousek123 It's not difficult, but rather time consuming the first time you do it. The annoying part is filling the transmission with oil (at the end of the job) as you will have to warm up the car, keep it lifted & leveled, and repeatedly go under to pump fresh fluid through a tiny hole. My 2008 535xi has a ZF 6HP21X.

    I have a 2008 535i, one owner with 65k purchased about 3 years ago (now 2024) I had to make up for some lack of useage that reveals issues (little old lady from Pasadena stuff) . The oil filter housing gasket has to be replaced, can cause serious damage if neglected. The valve cover gasket with the pricey plastic cover and replace the coils and plugs while this is open is 2k, and had to be done after longer use. The oil pan gasket can be delayed unless really leaky but is 1k. In my case the alternator replacement came up after year 2, at $1,300 , which is pricey for an alternator for sure! However, I purchased for under 10k USD, and realistically you have to budget another 8k or more for repair and mainttenance for 2 years. However, then the car is relatively reliable until another plastic part fails, LOlL . But- the driving dynamics are impressive and as Host Strongarm suggests the interior is very high quality. if you learn how to use the power to weight and vehicle dynamics you will still love it, despite the crappy original gaskets (WTF vs Toyota?) Repairs are expensive, but this is a European performance auto. Mine's not worth much, so I definitely continue to enjoy and and am planning to pick up a second AWD Toyota, Honda, or Subaru so I can appreciate the ability to use a second vehicle as an alternative. God bless you, ahmen!

    Great review! I have a 2010 535i m sport. I absolutely love it. I did have to change the oil filter/oil cooler gasket when I first bought it. If they do leak, it leaks on the serpentine belt and your belt WILL slip off. Also I had a brand new valve cover installed. That will give you a new gasket as well as pcv valve.
    I’ve put about 12-13000 miles on it since and no issues. My car is stock and it with the right weather. It will spin tires at 100mph going from 5th to 6th gear. It’s a beast.

    I am at a cross road with mine, I bought mine in 2015 with 86k and I am in the second owner and right now I have 112k on it, but I had to move across country for work last year and drove it from point A to point B little over 2000 miles and it was a smooth drive the whole way, well I moved from the Seattle area to a backwoods place in Louisiana and I got my oil change one day and started getting limp mode and throwing VANOS codes so for 6 months I went back and forth replacing parts and sensors trying to fix it on my own because the nearest dealership was an hour and half away so I started looking a new ( and by new I mean used) BMWs and found a lot of good deals, well finally I decided to take it to the dealership come to find out when I got the oil changed they threw away the plastic filter that is in the middle of the oil filter, which was causing all the problems, so I now I am wanting a new BMW, but now that I have this girl back on the road I am really enjoying driving her, everything he says about this spot on, so now its put 5K towards and new BMW or drop 5K in performance parts in my 535i?

    • @strongarmdrives9796
      @strongarmdrives9796  6 років тому +1

      I personally would keep her. I've driven a lot of the newer BMW's and none of them makes me want to give up my 535. Except the f90 M5, but that's out my price range.

  • @MickSwagga

    I've had great outcomes with both of my used E61's. I started off with a 2006 530xit (natually aspirated) which was well maintained and loved so much, that I bought a 2008 535xit (twin turbo) which was impeccably maintained and upgraded. I don't see myself parting with either one because how great of an experience I've had and still am having. Sticking to the routine maintenance is all that you need in having longevity in any car. Sorry to ramble and brag but I totally agree with this video.

    I own a 2008 535i m sport addition Lci same as this .. weird thing is mine dont have that front bumper.. it came with lowered stock suspension which makes the sickest turns @ fast speed look like cake .. has the peddle shifters on steering wheel and same shift knob .. currently have 140,000 miles on it .. got it about 3 years ago with 70,000 ... I believe that's around the time BMW loose there warranty. Didn't need to do many mods, well I couldn't afford I guess after all the mechanical issues. All I did as soon as I got it was 20" rims instead of those 18 inch and changed out the angle eyes bulb to hid bulbs that come with ballast. Repairs are many but worth it ..

    LOL as a 2010 e60 535i owner it’s wild irresponsible to say the car is reliable if you take care of it. Transmission issues to turbos to water pump to leaky oil gaskets to HPFP all having short life spans this for sure makes the car unreliable. It’s quite easy to spend 7-10k in maintenance in a short time with this car. Keep it a buck my guy!

    • @jamesclifford8539
      @jamesclifford8539 5 років тому

      I have a 2010 535 and it has been reliable. Every BMW has leaky valve cover gaskets, oil pan gasket leaks and oil housing gaskets leaks. These are common in the N55 also. I had the fuel injectors and HPFP done under warranty. If you are going to the dealer for all repairs, maybe you will pay 7-10k but have never come close to that amount with mine

    Good review. I own a 2008 e60 sport pkg in jet black. Only noise I hear is from the run flats. I changed to non run flats,and it was much more quiet. Then I changed back, because I don't want to change a tire. QUESTION: I want to go with 19" wheels and keep staggered . Don't understand what ofset will work. My understanding is the lower the number the beter for looks.
    All I can find are 30mm offset. does anyone know if this ofset will work ? Thanks. Also I an a Cerakote applicator, so I plan to change the color to a gunmetal and burnt bronze and coat the rims, rotors and calipers.

    People will overlook this model because the E60 M5 is about 15k and you don't have to do a damn thing mod wise, I don't blame them.

    • @strongarmdrives9796
      @strongarmdrives9796  6 років тому +1

      +BimmerM5e39 I agree to an extent. But with simple mods the 535 is actually faster than the M5 has more torque and is alot cheaper to maintain. In Canada you can't get a well maintained e60 M5 for less than 20-25k

    I own a 2005 530i and love it. I was wondering if you knew of a way that you can remove annoying chime sounds. Right now I have a burned out Angel eye parking light and both my license plate lights as well. I plan to get both items taken care of asap, but the idrive constantly brings up chimes for both items when I start up the car and it is very annoying.
    So how can I completely silence the chimes?

    Are these reliable and expensive to maintain?

    • @SaroG
      @SaroG 4 роки тому

      The engine is reliable, but it needs regular maintenance to keep it healthy. The supporting components that make up the N54 platform are easy to diagnose and repair when failures do occur. The E6x/E9x N54/N55 ecosystem are very much alike, so there's plenty of information and data out there that can help anyone carry out their own maintenance & repairs if they wish to do so. In terms of costs, parts & repairs will always be higher than American or Japanese cars, but ultimately the expenses are relative.
      The most common maintenance tasks are changing injectors (index 12), spark plugs, and ignitions coils. If you tune your car, you will have to change these more frequently. Oil changes are every 25,000 km, but best to do in-betweens.
      Most predictable failures that can be considered "wear and tear" are oil leaks from the oil-cooler housing, valve cover & oil pan (all 3 requiring gasket changes, cheap fixes); transmission solenoids, mechatronic sleeves and valve gaskets ($$$); etc.
      One-time failures: HPFP (last part revision solves it for good, under warranty); CCC infotainment head-unit (change to a CIC instead), wastegates (rattles) & turbos (if you push them hard with a tune!); vacuum boost lines will crack due to age but cheap to replace.
      Failures that WILL 100% occur every X miles: electric water pump (on my 2nd one! $$)
