I suspect that they put the second line in place but didn't charge it until they had a hydrant supply. Looks to me like the second arriving engine stretched a supply line (the yellow one). First crew probably decided to park as close to the fire and quickly attack with what they had in the tank until help arrived.

@mohjan85 Not sure what you are getting at, a response in my rural area can take upwards of 15 minutes. Based on what I see of that fire that could have been less than 5 minute response plus the setup time for hoses. That is a good response time. I think in the USA response times in a city is close to 3 to 5 minutes.
It's very easy to judge an edited video, average response times in my rural area are usually above 10 minutes. Looks to me like less than 30 minutes to put out that fire with mostly 1 hose doing the job. Most of the damage was most likely done within the first 5 minutes of the fire starting. After that, it is exposure control with the nearest building being the biggest target.@@TamppoSilakka

First off, this is Japan, not American where u have those big giant fire engine. They will never got Japan narrow streets which is why Japanese fire engine are very small. This however create a problem where it can only support one fire line, which is why we only see one ff fighting the fire. Those that critisise the other ff for not doing anything, what u expect them to do? Jump on the fire? They have the line prepared but there's no water, they have to wait for bigger Fe to arrive. With what limitations they are facing that ff did a great job in trying to contain the fire to shed.
I love the Japanese mini-pumpers. They are well suited to the narrow roads in Japanese towns. But I'm having trouble accepting your point that the pump can only support one hose line. Japanese engineers do amazing things and get impressive results with small mechanics. Surely their pump can supply more than one line? I've seen several fire videos from Japan on UA-cam and, unfortunately, what I see again and again looks like too much discussion, planning and coordination and not enough firefighters taking action with any sense of urgency. I wonder if Japanese firefighters are trained to precisely follow very detailed procedures for each little task they do and this impedes them when faced with a real world, dynamic situation. 🤔

There's no way a small engine can't compete with the big engine. Yes maybe it can support two line but the pressure will no doubt drop as well

This is not complicated. First line as fast as possible (primarily on the exposure), second line set for foam to address the obvious flammable liquid fire that is driving the incident. Don't know if they ever got that second line charged, foam or not.

I am sorry to say it, but it was very slow as we compare it to Belgian firefighters. I don't think they have something like a special attack line that you can use quickly once on scene to try to contain fire while a bigger line is getting prepared, like we do have in Belgium. Maybe it was one of the multiple reasons, may be that they have another procedure, but i am not sure of it, beacause i don't speak Japanese. Do you mean around 1:15 where they're waiting to contain the fire? I don't know much about firefighters but it does look slow. But I think that was actually the "special" attack line since you see dozens of larger trucks arriving AFTER the fire is put out. This being Japan, I imagine there were a dozen documents they need to fill in before they're allowed to spray anything. You know, because you might get a complaint that their scooter was soaked in water or something.

I'm thinking the same.. First hose is pretty fast but from 1:40 to several minutes ahead they are pulling hoses like crazy, but not getting more water on the fire.. We would have had two high pressure reels out and on it as the very first thing - the lone firefighter in this vid is really fighting a hard to win battle
@@SkibbyDenmark the problem is they have no water because the Fe is too small, they had to get water from sources further away which explains the delay. And as to why they don't use bigger Fe that can hold more water, Japanese street are so narrow your American or European size fire truck will never get through. This unfortunately meant that they are only able to deploy one line to attack. They were actually pretty fast in deploying the second hose but I thinking the problem was getting to the water source, either because there's no fire hydrant nearby or water truck is still otw
fire trucks cost a lot even without being big, unfortunately all the technology and government red tape makes the price go high. Not just anyone can make a fire truck... Plus how do you know they have not spent a lot of money of those trucks? Did you compare the average cost of a truck in japan to that of the USA? Also, there is a time and place for a tool, in this video they are in a city with access to a lot of water supply via hydrants, their trucks are smaller in nature because of their small streets and narrow passages all around.
All those firefighters and only two lines in it wasn't a large scale fire put six lines on it, there was enough man power to do this and it would be extinguished in no time even if a couple of the lines were foam based.
Come on guys, you should be pulling out the extinguished stuff to clear a path not standing around watching. Either that or attack from the far side as well.

これから他のポンプ車が水利部署して増えていきます。

I'm thinking the same.. First hose is pretty fast but from 1:40 to several minutes ahead they are pulling hoses like crazy, but not getting more water on the fire.. We would have had two high pressure reels out and on it as the very first thing - the lone firefighter in this vid is really fighting a hard to win battle
@@SkibbyDenmark the problem is they have no water because the Fe is too small, they had to get water from sources further away which explains the delay. And as to why they don't use bigger Fe that can hold more water, Japanese street are so narrow your American or European size fire truck will never get through. This unfortunately meant that they are only able to deploy one line to attack. They were actually pretty fast in deploying the second hose but I thinking the problem was getting to the water source, either because there's no fire hydrant nearby or water truck is still otw

fire trucks cost a lot even without being big, unfortunately all the technology and government red tape makes the price go high. Not just anyone can make a fire truck... Plus how do you know they have not spent a lot of money of those trucks? Did you compare the average cost of a truck in japan to that of the USA? Also, there is a time and place for a tool, in this video they are in a city with access to a lot of water supply via hydrants, their trucks are smaller in nature because of their small streets and narrow passages all around.

こんなに隊員さんがわんさかいるなら、ひとりじゃなくて、あと二人くらい放水すればいいのにと思ってしまう。
んー、自分もそう思いました。素人目には隊員さんもたくさんいるし他のホースを準備しているのだからみんなでどんどん放水すればいいのではと・・・プロはプロなりの消火方法があるのでしょうかね。
すみません。まだ消火栓に接続できていないので消防車のタンクの水を放水してるから1本だと。

Why are the fire engines so small
All those firefighters and only two lines in it wasn't a large scale fire put six lines on it, there was enough man power to do this and it would be extinguished in no time even if a couple of the lines were foam based.
As advanced as this country is, why are they not using radios instead of a bullhorn???
2本目のホースがなかなか来ないのは消火栓を探しているんでしょうね。見つかるまではタンク車の水だけで消火するしかない。
日本は消火栓の公式な地図がないと聞いたことがあります。消防署で独自に作っているそうですが、人手で作っていると全域をカバーなんて難しいでしょうし、ましてや私有地の中となると把握するのは無理でしょうからね。
日本の街での消火活動は消防士たちにとっては中々の難易度なんでしょうね。
Come on guys, you should be pulling out the extinguished stuff to clear a path not standing around watching. Either that or attack from the far side as well.
