Yeah it leaves open the possibility for a sequel. Alien hominid got one, and castle crashers was their most successful series. So there's no reason not to have a sequel, only time will tell.

I wonder if the Necromancer needing to die again could be the plotline for the potential Castle Crashers 2? He's died once, realises he no longer has a spare life, wants to solve that by killing or resurrecting (or both) enormous numbers of people all at the same time to "block the pipes" leading to and from the afterlife, or create a rift between parallel worlds where he can somehow steal the lives of his own alternate selves, and in doing so gain extra resurrections for his minions too, exponentially increasing his power?
You can see what the Dragon during the undead Cyclops bossfight is the same dragon because the room contains a giant sock, which was used by the Dragon as a puppet.
This is so cool! I saw the interview, but it’s great to see this as a completely organized video! All this stuff really makes it seam like there needs to be a sequel, but someone did say they might make a Castle Crashers 2 mod. Very happy you got to talk to Dan!
One of my favorite mysteries or easter eggs in the game is the multiple paintings of the 4th princess during the Painter fight. Each one shows her on the ground with a sword in her chest and, upon bringing her back to the castle, its revealed she's a funny dancing clown. Always thought of it as the Painter (or someone else) killing the princess, Painter paints a clown copy to fool us
I played this back when I was younger with my brother. Seeing a lot of these questions answered that we used to argue about is wonderful. Thank you for doing this!

idea, what if the reason monsters only exist in pit people, because they were hunted in the time of castle crashers, and they're free after the bear hit the world, which would explain why there's nothing in alien hominid, and battle block theater
I always believed Castle Crashers took place after Pit People, and the monsters in Castle Crashers are just evolved versions of the monsters created by the bear blood in Pit People

Alright, mystery number 5. What if the evil wizard was the original king of your castle. He was not a very good king, so the king we know today over threw him and killed him. Then, the necromancer the wizard back to life and the wizard tries to take his revenge.
The Crystal's lore not only explains the knighting system, but also how some enemies like Fire Imps are able to use magic, since the Evil Wizard could have given powers to his minions
An also mystery is that when your fighting the The colt minions You can see Dead bodies With Swords from the gray knights so were thoughts gray knight that became red, orange, green, and blue that failed in there mission and you are the new magic knights.
It would be cool for if there was a castle crashers 2 for necromancer being villain for half while then another version of the Evil Wizard (Likely a cult minion) then tries to manipulate the necromancer who then realises this and teams up with you. And for those who wouldn’t believe a cult minion wouldn’t do this, a fat kid from alien hominid became the literal commander of the fbi in alien hominid invasion. And alien hominid was made by the same creators as castle crashers.
Hi Reckerless this video is amazingly organized! I didn't watch the full interview but did you guys ever talk about the pink night and/or the blacksmith?
Makes me wonder why the Wizard was in charge when the Necromancer seems to be the real powerhouse of that team. The fact he is able to bring literally anything back at least once is crazy. On a lighter note that makes me wonder if the reason why Necromancer is a playable character was always a hint that he never died. I think he's the only boss that is playable granted most of them aren't player sized.
Theory, insane mode is just castle crashers two let me explain, so the necromancer has to life’s and when he revives enemy’s they come back stronger, so the necromancer came back stronger during insane mode reviving the enemy’s and making them stronger, this would also explain why the shops have different weapons and pets and why some enemies/bosses are now stronger with new attacks and drops, this also explains why we still don’t have a castle crashers 2 is this a valid theory?
What about the enemies in the necromancer fight? That means they would have been revived 3 or 4 times breaking the rule of only being able to be revived twice.
This reminds me of a theory i had about the potential origins of the main four knights. My idea is that each of the characters that you unlock by playing each knight is a piece of their backstory. For example, the orange knights unlockable characters are fire demon, and ninja. So you reverse the order of the characters and we get maybe a potential story? My idea is that the Orange knight was once a Pirate ninja who got lost and ended up in lava world, was maybe learned some fire stuff from the demons? And was later made into the orange knight via the white crystal. Due to his connection with the demons. You could change the story around and apply this idea to the other to three knights but in the end it probably is not canon but its a cool idea.
The crystal also proves how all the enemies got their magic, most notably characters like the industrialist, icekimo, or even the bears. They got their magic from the evil crystal.
I agree but there were some factors which made it not as obvious, one being the sock puppet (during the fight in lava world) would retreat after the dragon died, suggesting the puppet could be a different dragon (I talk about it more in the iceberg video)

Here's a mystery I always had: What are the food's theming in Lava World? We have a hard boiled egg, A hamburger, a box of fries, and a blueberry. Other places that have unique food like snow world or the church make sense: Sweets for a wedding. Spearmint and peppermint for the snow world typical for holidays. The only theming I have is most of the foods are associated with America, blueberries from America, Fries and Burgers are common and so on. But it just seems random otherwise.
It's nice having a game dev that gives satisfying answers instead of the bog standard leaving it up to player interpretation or just giving coy non answers like sometimes people just want to know.
I somehow already knew that the necromancer was still alive cause he just flied away up instead of dying, so i was supposing that he could be inmortal, but not the dying twice him, i love how the necromancer's character is developed xd, and about the crystal, i love the fact that the knights where gray knights before, if it wasnt for the crystal, it was going to be hard to being a veteran knight like the castle crashers, idk how to explain that but its just impressive xD

Castle Crashers is the only game I own, but didn't buy, a good friend actually bought the game, and gave it to me as a gift on Steam, we spent an entire summer playing the game, great times😀😀😀
I think we kill necromancer for both the first and second time. It's not a requirement, but after you complete the game on normal, you play insane mode and unlock the necromancer as a playable character. Then when YOU die while playing the necromancer character, that's his second death. Don't you think if his whole thing was dying twice, then you would have two lives while playing him? This means he's on his second life while you play him.

My own mystery: Where and who is the leader of the thieves? For literally every other enemy, we find their leader, who ends up being a boss fight.

As somebody who played through as a grey knight im disappointed the king didnt see my service as worthy of being upgraded

with number 2 it’s kinda obvious it’s the same dragon because there’s a sock on the floor in one of the final rooms too which is the sock puppet guy

I think we kill necromancer for both the first and second time. It's not a requirement, but after you complete the game on normal, you play insane mode and unlock the necromancer as a playable character. Then when YOU die while playing the necromancer character, that's his second death. Don't you think if his whole thing was dying twice, then you would have two lives while playing him? This means he's on his second life while you play him.
