  • The average skier or snowboarder is going about 25 miles per hour! That makes these sports extremely dangerous especially when you have thousands of people on the same ski run! So here are a lot of tips to keep your ski family safe!

    Wear brighter colors on cloudy days and busy days. 1. More visible to others 2. Find your kids or crew more easily. 3. Easier to find if you crash off an edge or in the trees

    It always bothers me when people start skiing from a stop and don’t look uphill first.

    Just found your channel. Great content. These were the things drilled into us by our parents. Seems like many people shelve common sense when there is snow on the ground and all of the sudden anything goes. I even saw people letting their kids sled on the highway when traffic was stopped for 5-10min due to an accident. 🤦🏻

    Yes!!! Mr Buckhouse is spot-on with his assessment of when to bring beginner kids to the slopes!!!! Skip the big resorts until February or March! Loveland Valley, Granby, Sunlight, Cooper, non-weekend Eldora, are all great places for learners. My fave is Loveland Valley. Dedicated learners' area. Essentially zero chance of more advanced skiers/riders buzzing through.

    Ski Cooper is my goto for busy weekends and holidays. Even with a packed parking lot, there is no lift line.

    I agree!! And another tip dont sit in the middle of the slope. 😅

  • @owenpohl7841
    @owenpohl7841 6 місяців тому

    my biggest thing is people stopping and sitting down at the top of slopes or in the slow areas or people going on runs that are beyond their skill level. those are the most dangerous scenarios where they could be at fault for getting injured

    AZ Snowbowl Has figured out it’s not a good idea to just open the gondola all the way to the top, and mix in every level of rider like they did last year. They have managed to blow enough snow to open the heart Prairie area, to keep the beginners happy. ( and separated from the advanced riders ) Kudos to them.

      We used to go to Eldora early season. Less travel time commitment (Front Range peep) given the amount of open terrain. Stopped doing that a few years back. FAR too many college kids zipping through and around everyone, when there's not much open and you have a WIDE mix of abilities using the same areas. Extremely unsafe.

    Another tip is to ride behind your child. If someone is coming in hot, they hit you instead of your kid.

    • @szaret1
      @szaret1 6 місяців тому +4

      Idk about that, I feel it makes more sense for the kid to hit. Their bodies are way more resilient than adults. Also the adult has to take care of the kid. With the adult seriously hurt, some may have no one to turn to take care of the kid. All logical signs point to letting the kid taking one for the team.

    Can’t stand when a mtn will open up main trails but leave the bunny hill closed when they have plenty of snow so we gotta deal with all the newbies and fetuses in our way

    • @asajayunknown6290

      Or just wait for more terrain to open while you go slower for a few runs? The season is months, year-round if you have the $$$ and time. Patience.
