- Professor Gill leads the secret, evil organization Dark, which is building savage androids in a scheme for world domination. Doctor Komyoji and his daughter Mitsuko have been taken prisoner by Dark and are forced to develop androids for them. In defiance of Dark’s ambitions, Doctor Komyoji secretly builds a robot for justice, the android Jiro. To fight against the androids of Dark, who might even be called his brothers, the artificial humanoid Jiro can transform into Kikaider. Though his “conscience circuit” is incomplete, he resists the controlling sound waves of Gill’s flute, and fights a harsh battle for justice.
I grew up in Hawaii, we watched the Checkers & Pogo show and Kikaida! Great Memories. Best Childhood in Hawaii.

First time I watch this show Kikaider, and it's AMAZING!! Shotaro Ishinomori really did improve to the Tokusatsu and Anime-Manga world, I wish he was still alive to bring more stuff and see how bigger he turned.
Tbh I never saw this version I saw the adult swim anime version as a kid and it’s been one of my favorite series since then so ever since I found it , it was based off a different kikaida series I been trying to track it down to watch and thank god it’s here

Jiro and his sidecar is my favorite. I recall dressed up just like him and wear a badminton racket on my back "riding" on a luggage and pretend I am Jiro. That was so long ago....
Forever my first superhero, you can do all that wire works now, the cgi, the remake movies, but its no comparison to watching this as a kid...nothing beats the real action and drama of Kikaida (#02 since he is Jiro "second son"). Final note: Sad that there is no SCARLET DOG episode despite it was mentioned in the lineup of the early episodic monsters (Grey Rhino King through Pink Tiger)
I liked the ending where the monster explodes, and machine scraps fell to the ground. To save cost, they recycled that scene for different episodes, but it was still cool!

My favorite show of all time. Jiro/Kikaider was my first superhero.
My best friend and I watched the anime together when it aired on Adult Swim. Always wanted to watch the real thing, and now I can! Thanks Toei!

My restrictive parents had never allowed me to watch shows like this when I was little; looks like all of the other guys and gals here didn't have such problem.
I think most kids in Hawaii in the 1970's remember this show. If I remember it was on KGMB in the afternoon kids slot.

10 years later, Kikaider's suit actor became the main character of Space Sheriff Gavan
And he also played as Battle Kenya and Denzi Blue in between those 10 years.

I've wanted to watch this ever since watching the anime.
I live in Hawaii and Kikaida was quite possibly the most popular Tokusatsu character here prior to when the Power Rangers came to America.
Kamen Rider V3 was also famous over there, I heard.

@@kamenraider1175 V3 was the only Kamen Rider series aired in Hawai'i in the early '70s, and so was the only exposure most Americans had to the Kamen Rider series at the time. V3 is still my favorite, and not just because he was my first. =^[.]^=

It was the biggest thing on tv for our generation. I remember going to Shirokiya and seeing all the kids going nuts over the Japanese superhero stuff. My parents would tell me the doll is just a piece of plastic! I would correct them and say action figure! To me it made it worth the 7 bucks which was big money those days. Lol!
Please don't forget Genshi Shonen Ryu and Mechanical Violator Hakaider (movie).

1- Ative a legenda e coloca em inglês - Ligando a legenda (primeiro ícone legendas/legendas ocultas)-
2- Depois vai na engrenagem e ativa traduzir automaticamente (Clica na engrenagem > inglês > legendas/cc > traduzir automaticamente > português)
3- Em seguida escolha o idioma português, pronto! temos a legenda traduzida do inglês para o português. A tradução não é 100%, mas ajuda bastante e da para entender direito.

I was lucky enuff to be exposed to Go Rangers, Kikaider, Lionmaru, Raideen, and Candy, Candy. Terrific shows.
What about Ikkyu-san, Ganbare Robocon. Getta Robo G and Denjin Zaboga?
@@russellwhitesell6050 The only two others I can recall are Getta Robo and UFO Diapolon. On a different channel my fav is Giant Robot. The english dub and script is amazingly well done and hilarious. The movie is - Journey into Space, still amazing today.

Been hoping to watch this one for years had to make do with the anime and reboot movie
I can still remember when Jiro changed to Kikaida: “CHANGE! SWITCH ON! 1, 2, 3!” Then the magic happens as you see a man change into a martial arts spinning action pack half-raised headed blinking light headed robot donned in a multitude of colors and glowing eye. The 70’s in Hawaii were magical times tuning into “KIKU, nihongo, tibedides 13.”
