More family bonding time at that air speed. Just think of the time you saved by NOT driving in the family minivan or the drive to an airport and all the hassle that goes along with that. Yes 130 knots is considered slow but it is still worth it in the long run. When you find your next project plane and get it fixed up the way you want. The speed may be faster but so are the bills associated with it. I really like watching your videos even the subtitles. You are such a HOOT.
Awesome Video ! I was an Avionics Mechanic for rotary wing aircraft in the Army . I studied at Fort Eustice for 6 months before being released to my duty station. I like your work. I like your videos . You are such a great inspiration . Take care fly safe!
Good for you! I bought a '67 Cherokee 6 a generation ago for exactly the same reason - 4 kids and trips to take! Great load hauler and reasonably long flight legs! Kids are grown and gone now, but so comfortable in the '6, I don't plan to downsize. Never know when you will want to carry a load - or friends! Loved all the videos from beginning of this rebuild adventure to seeing your first family trip! Time to refurb my '6, especially avionics - what we replaced when we got it in 1992 need to be replaced again. You gave me lots of good ideas! Keep the videos coming!
Great video. I have taken my Six from Tucson Arizona as far as San Salvador, Bahamas, and the Cayman Islands with full scuba gear for two and a portable amateur radio set-up. The 130 knots is a bit slow, but the comfort factor and useful load, in my mind, make up for the speed. I also use oxygen above about 6000 feet and I feel refreshed even after 8 hours of flying in a day.
Looks like you had a good time with the fam and the six did it’s job. Congratulations on the plane and looking forward to future videos of upgrades to your Cherokee
Hey, great vid as always, so glad you got it fixed to quick - and just shows the value of the pre flight checks! - for your in cockpit audio try adding a 40db stereo audio attenuator into the line - the radio audio tends to overpower the recording device - it works a treat!
I have been watching your channel for a bit, i live right behind a private strip for 30 years. I've always wanted to fly but now i just retired and i think im going to go for it. Thanks for the vids!
This brings back memories piling into my dads Cessna 182 one thing my dad taught me about family trips. Quicker and the higher you get, the sooner they sleep
Captain Jimmy ,very lucky you guys manage to land without an issue,,and super lucky to have an spare part that happens to be the same exact part you was need it Awesome Flying
FANTASTIC!! CONGRATS ON THE FLIGHT! Great story too about seeing that preventatively yourself and getting the part cheap (or free?) and fixing it right then and there? AMAZING. Don't see the pilots doing that on 737s huh?
Hi Jimmy (if I'm allowed to address u like that). Saw one if your videos (the first I saw indeed) a couple of days ago and posted a nice comment (I think). It was the one about a V-tail u managed to start. Now I came across this one I i have to reinstate my comment. U are one of the funniest guy ('funny.. ?what u mean I'm funny?? funny how?? funny like a clown??do I amuse u??tell me funny how??😁) intelligent and interesting tube content producer I've seen on the net recently. And boy, are we fed up with u-tubers without interesting contents. So, my word for u is....god bless for the amazing quality and difference u produce. Keep up with the good work. Sorry for my poor English (portuguese people speak English like this 😁), and happy landings from Portugal.
Glad you discovered that oil leak! Showing yet again, flying and piloting is a game of diligence - checklists, inspections, etc. Would have been quite a shitty day if you ran that big six out of oil with a plane full of your family. You may grumble about the speed, but that Cherokee Six is the Suburban of the skies. Beautiful family, keep the fun content up.
Great video! I’m glad it worked out great. As a Type 1 Diabetic who’d literally give anything to be able to fly my family around as PIC at 130 knots instead of driving 55 mph in traffic I mentally just can’t understand the conundrum you are in. Your vacation for me would have been 15 hours driving each way (and I loath airlines) BUT I AM enjoying watching your journey. 😁
That's the kind of broken airplane and solution I want to have if I ever have to have one. Hope the good lord continues his blessings to you and your family!
GOD has Blessed you so much a beautiful Family and Nice aircraft you picked up. I would say I am Envious and I am but really I do Not deserve your Blessings. Boy GOD is Watching over you and Your Family. Praise GOD.
I notice you leave the altimeter set to QNH when in the circuit (pattern). Here in the U.K. we set the altimeter to QFE for take off and in the circuit so it reads height above the ground, not height above sea level.
Wow!! I know KDWU very well. Grew up in the area and lived on 6th directly across from airport entrance for several years. Small world. Been watching your vids for awhile. Didn't know you had any Tri-State roots...
Your videos are amazing...fun to watch...and you definitely made a great choice of airplane for what you want to do...a great load hauler. Hey...next time you're going on a trip, let me know and I'll follow you in my tow truck...at worst, I'll only be an hour or so behind you. :) (Please keep up the Fantastic and funny videos.)
@@therealjimmysworld Actually, I didn't mean to pick on the speed of your excellent airplane .. it's just that I have a very fast tow truck. I love your airplane.
Sometimes airplanes are a hole in the air you fill with money. In my case I had to make a decision. Should I fly this week or eat!!!!! I enjoy your loose in the shoes semi slapstick humor. I love flying and enjoy watching good pilots fly. Thanks for posting your videos…👍
Jimmy, I have got to tell you that I have become such a fan of yours. I You have such a great and pretty honest personality. Duide you dont have a mean bone in your body. Anyway, you have become my hero. I am musical artist. Im going to write and record a song about you. Let you know when its done. Rockin Ray Anderson Dallas Texas
Big hello from New Zealand. Just started watching your videos. Made me start investigating what it takes to get a nz pilots license. I'm sure my wife will be ok with that..great videos!
If you gotta have an oil leak return side is always better than pressure. My Dad blew the crankshaft seal in his Pitts S1T over those same mountains. The oil covered the canopy and all he had was a map and a compass. He got it down in one piece before it ran out of oil. Turned out the previous owner had extended the crankcase vent to the tail and it iced shut. He was bringing the airplane home to Ohio after buying it in Alabama.
We had a 1956 piper PA-22-150 (the flying milk stool) back in 1977, with a family of 4 and it was a blast. Very forgiving airplane with a climb prop, we lived in the mountains north of Spokane WA. Keep us informed on your adventures looking for a 200kt bird PLEASE 🤞
It's funny I'm planning a road trip around Central America with my family and you just take one of your planes 😅 I hope i can be in that position some day my friend, glad you guys had a safe trip!
LOVE your commercial pilot voice! Had to watch that bit a few times for a few more giggles.

Watson Aero is the best! Rebuilt the engine for my 182. Just “bumping” into James is never a bad thing!

Jimmy - I don't know why, but it seems like your "bad days" are better than my "good days"! Really, you found an oil line in the back of a truck?
hey, I'll take it when I can get it! lol and that was definitely a divine appointment!
