my dad has a 58 gibson les Paul custom. with the original case. His uncle bought it died on a motorcycle and left it to him a year after getting it in 58. All original. Its beautiful.
I don’t always think that these old Gibsons sound as great they are hyped up to be. 9 times out of 10 I feel like you can get a better sounding guitar for 1/10 the cost, BUT this one lives up to the hype. Great guitar Great amp Great player ❤
The children need to know the errors of their way when it’s concerning those soul eroding amp modelers. We need to save them from themselves before it’s too late.
One thing on my Mind by Montrose on a very cool "Gibson Black Beauty" through a Fender Bassman which inspired the Marshall amps we know and love today.
Sound is always excellent. I think the amps are often running beyond their sweet spot though, going into fizzy overdrive, which personally I only want when I switch a fuzz pedal on, which isn’t often. Dial the amp back, so it’s not collapsing at full guitar volume and nice and clean at 4 or 5.
Phil!! Miss ya, brother. I would love to hear YOU jam on this beast! These demos are so much harder to do than I could have ever anticipated, but it sure is an honor to blast away on rare gems like this LP.
@@karlvandervelden3373 You did such a great job of letting the guitar really ring and show its voice. Always great to hear you. Hope to get back up there sometime soon!
Well the original Bluesbreakers were 59 Bassman circuits built with the British military electronics and valves that Jim Marshall had available to him so this was the closest fender amp to a Marshall. Though I do get what your saying, but this amp broken in a little would be one of the best amps to pair this guitar with and is one of the reasons I had to click on this video. I would like to hear this thing plugged into an ODS
You can hear the frets plinking out a bit But a professional fret job wouldn't ruin the price would it Really needs it if your going to play it So what does that do for the collectability of a piece like that
gibsondrummer Got that backwards. He lost the Gretsch pickup in the early 70s and replaced it with a Firebird pickup in the bridge position. He’s got a P90 in the neck, but he rarely ever uses it.
playing a bone dry tweed amp.. i mean i get it, they are trying to show off the guitar and amp setup but still....throw in a non-obtrusive delay or something
It’s adjustable but believe me there’s two very good reasons to keep the gap. One, it allows heat to vent from the chassis which gets quite hot, and two when that back panel is in contact with the chassis you get some loud and annoying buzzes as the cab vibrates and rattles against it.
I felt the same after trying out a new ‘59 LTD Bassman. It was loud and spikey and much too trebly in person. Ridiculous. I could not understand the appeal one bit. But! That changed after my first experience with a Victoria 45410. The most heavenly gorgeous cleans and a full blooming midrange and a deep killer low end. Also, amazing overdrive that’s not splattery like the reissue LTD.
I think part of people not liking these amps is that they have an unusual eq curve. You need to dime the mids, bass off and treble on 2 or 3. If you set everything on 5-6 like a blackface or typical fender type amp, it sounds awful.
Too bad the les paul custom has an outrageous price tag. People don't care about music or the instrument it seems like. Only to make a quick buck. So sad.
The videography is the best I’ve seen for guitar stuff on UA-cam.
My dream guitar.
Same. One day, my friend...
Yep
From 5:08 onwards is easily the best electric guitar tone I have ever heard. Full fucking stop.
When the dude heard it with distortion he was so pumped. God that sounded great.
Nothing like the 3 pup black beauty with a bigsby. Best sounding les paul ever made

Great amp
Great player
❤
That face he makes when hitting that G chord into a cranked tube amp; that's a feeling every guitar player should experience. Real amps forever.

Always wanted one of those bassman reissues, i have so many damn amps though. Maybe someday I will pick one up!
Fantastic demo

stunning
Black beauty always seems to me like strike fear to the man's heart.pure black raw mucel.stuning guitar!
My dream amp ever since I heard Buudy Guy play one
Well. This is it. This is the dream that will never die until its fulfilled.
6:40 I can totally see how this was the basis for the original jtm45. It's kinda got that sound here just for a second
Oh, that Touch my Heart.

It’s those dang Jensens. I’m a fan of greenback type speakers in a Bassman and turned up to 7. They stay together so much better.
I love your videos. One day i will fly to your shop to visit you all!!!
Thank you Carl for the montrose, put a smile on My face
Thanks...I couldn't quite place the riff!
what montrose song is that from? can’t seem to find it

I’ll take two
This is the guitar.
Without the origin screwdriver I wouldn' t buy the guitar.
Nice video
Play it with a Marshall please!
Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn.
I'd love to see Aaron play that through a Marshall.
Yeah, me too! The force is strong with young Aaron :)

I don’t think professional fret jobs affect the value of top tier vintage guitars. The word though is PROFESSIONAL.
Way cool Know Carl from school days gone by.
Rock And Roll ? for me more grand piano or Cadillac ;)
Pagey liked his.
"Pecker Marks" , Stop, you're killing me.
Yeah you'd think he'd flip it over to the back to show the pecker marks. You have to be rockin hard to get pecker marks. I mean rock hard
Wasn’t this dude the bartender in Cheers?
Lol
DAMN 👊🏼
Gibson did not put Grover machine heads on 1958 Les Paul Customs. That reduces the price by $10k
I think Mr. Neil Young would lose his mind seeing this Gem!
Neil plays thru P-90’s and a grtesch pickup in his 54 , the firebird 4 pickup was stolen out of blackie when it was in for service
gibsondrummer Got that backwards. He lost the Gretsch pickup in the early 70s and replaced it with a Firebird pickup in the bridge position. He’s got a P90 in the neck, but he rarely ever uses it.
@@darwinsaye Thank you for your insight. Very interesting.
Frank Sampedro was playing through a bassman when they went on tour in 1978.
Slick
The crème de la crème
Those Fender LTDs don't come close to the original. I had some regrets I sold mine but after hearing this now I know why I did.
I start the bid at $1,958.....
That black case - at least mine from ‘82 is a hazard. Peg head can end up in contact. 😵
😳 drool worthy
🤙❤️🤙
Give it to the poor
Hell ! why don't you just show us the price !
Probably you dont have to ask for the price if you can afford it.
It's probably a matter of sales competition, so they can't be undercut by a competitor with a black beauty just like it
Montrose!
Triple binding? No. They’re like 7-ply on the top and 5-ply on the back. Unless you mean triple as in top, back and headstock
Beano album anybody?

Does anyone else Bassman LTD have a gap between the back panel and controls? It’s annoying as hell! Lol beautiful guitar.

@@Slammintone thanks for the info. That makes sense, and I hate amp rattle!
Duuuude
Can't stand the bigsby or the dreaded Floyd Rose.... love the guitar though.
Too much for this hone player...had to sell off my 59RI
Man, I really dislike the fender bassman amps. I will never understand the appeal, personally.

Pecker marks 🤭
Wouldn’t “pecker marks” be on the back? 🤔
