    Thanks so much! Really useful information. I just got a really good deal on a new 59 Bassman LTD so this is really helpful and you got some great sounds. A really versatile amp!

      Thanks! I hope you enjoy the amp! It really is a great amp and is still my preferred amp for a lot of situations. Been actually meaning to do a more in-depth demo of amp to help illustrate how versatile it is and how well it takes different guitars and pedals.

    Really nice to see another (rare) Bassman video on UA-cam. I've gigged my Bassman reissue for around 22 years, It's very, very, distinct in it's tone with those four ten's. and it will also take pedals very well. I mostly use single coil Strats and Tele's and sometimes a 335. I find using just input one, and the Bass on 5, Treble on 7, Presence on 5 and the Mid varying between 9 and 12 depending on which guitar I use, gives me the perfect base setting. It's a reliable amp that always sounds nice and meaty. Because its pretty loud getting those saturated tones on most gigs I did, I lower the volume control and use pedals for those overdrive tones. I've tried other combo amps that are lighter and less in volume but always come back to my Bassman which I'd never part with. For reverb I have a Fender reissue valve reverb tank, perfect for the surf guitar stuff I do. I bought a Boss Waza Tube Amp Expander so I can use the amp at home, due to gigs evaporating thanks to Covid. The Bassman's 2 Ohm speaker output connects fine with the 4 Ohm setting on the Boss TAE, and I can record to my DAW with the Bassman or just play at home volume without upsetting the neighbors.
    One last comment. If you own a Fender Bassman...Don't part with it. You don't see many for sale second hand.

      Thanks! I've owned a lot of fender amps and this is definitely my favorite. I was always looking for an amp that gets a nice fender clean tone but doesn't get thin or harsh with overdrive pedals. I find this amp takes different guitars and pedals extremely well. I don't run it that loud either so I get all of my drive out of pedals. I've never tried the Boss Waza Tube Expander but sounds cool. Will have to check it out!

    It’s incredible how much different this amp sounds with small tweaks of the knobs and different inputs, different guitars. I have to adjust every pedal I have a ridiculous amount when I switch my pedal board from my twin reverb to the bassman or change guitars. Such a cool sounding amp. I picked one up for 800 the other day at a music shop.

      This amp is my favorite "pedal platform" amp. The flexible EQ and being able to plug into either the normal or bright channel makes it very diverse, certainly much more diverse than people give it credit for! I've owned several blackface style fender amps with great cleans but could never quite dial in my OD the way I want. Being able to boost the mids, tweak the presence, and plug-in to normal channel (no bright cap) allows me to get nice cleans but thick and creamy overdrive.

      @@sheifiproductions this is the same person in this comment - I loaned this to my bass player in a little band project we had for the past like 6 months or so and I just got it back. Holy crap I forgot how awesome it is. I love the mids cranked. I also have a fender deluxe that I’ve been playing as my main amp and I have a 1978 twin reverb but the bassman is probably my favorite.

      @@dustinadair7893 Totally agree! I love that this amp has a middle control as well as presence. So many gender amps don’t and it’s always challenging dialing in good overdrive tones. With the bassman I find I can get all the versatility I want with a nice full clean but enough mids to make all my overdrive pedals sound great as well!

      Thanks! Yea, I love this amp. Maybe because it doesn’t come with options like reverb and tremolo people tend to overlook it but I definitely think it’s underrated. It’s my favorite pedal platform amp. I can get just about any tone I want out of it and it sounds good at low and higher volumes!

    The Tweed Bassman is simply the best guitar amp ever made....as just a straight-ahead guitar sound and voicing.

      I don't disagree! Love this thing. I had a gig this past weekend where my pedalboard was having issues so I just went straight into the bassman and is still kicked ass!

      @@SgtThump Awesome! I love mine. Everyone is different, but I like using the normal channel with the mids most of the way up and treble and bass rolled back a bit. Makes it real versatile with distortion and pedals and still gives you great clean without getting too harsh or ice picket.

    Thanks for your thoughts - nice and inspiring demo and great that you brought in the hollowbody - really a useful jazzy sound. Did you still usethe same settings i.e. vol 3, bass 0, treble 10, middle ??? and presence ???. And do you have any thoughts on jumping the channels?

    • @sheifiproductions
      @sheifiproductions  3 роки тому +1

      Depends on the guitar, but generally I like the normal channel with treble around 10 o’clock, mids around 2 o’clock, and bass mostly turned down. I find the Norma channel is nice and diverse as far as taking a range of guitars and pedals (particularly distortion). Jumping the channels definitely can get some cool sounds, but I need to experiment more with it. I would probably lean towards the normal channel and then mixing in a little bit of the bright channel just to get a little more edge on blues/rock stuff. Don’t think I would use it for jazz.

    does this amp offer the option to switch from clean to bright or distorted channel? Like if I have a footswitch

    • @sheifiproductions
      @sheifiproductions  4 роки тому +2

      You could switch channels using a A/B box. The amp doesn't offer a standard foot switch. Keep in mind the amp is quite loud, so although it does sound really good when distorted it's rare that you would have the amp that loud in a gig situation. It's more commonly used as a "pedal platform" kind of amp. I find the different channels useful more by the different EQ. I didn't get to it in this video, but you can also jump the two channels so both the bright channel and normal channel are going at same time. You have a master volume for both normal and bright channel so you can blend the two to get some pretty cool sounds!

    If one were to find a used reissue, and had an amp expert put in an effects loop, would that be the ultimate sacrilege?
    Asking for a friend.....

    • @sheifiproductions
      @sheifiproductions  3 роки тому

      Ha, wouldn't offend me! I don't exactly what it would take to add one to a bassman reissue but would be cool addition for someone who uses effect loops. Personally I run my amp clean and get all my sounds out of pedals, so the bassman without effects loop just does fine for me. It would be nice if they made it the effects loop an option though.
