Correction. The pronunciation of Nux is "NEW X". I'm going to continue calling it Nux though because it's cute sounding. Sorry Nux! 😻
I've never actually heard any other reviewer/demoer call it "new-ex" haha
Really? been calling them Nux for years too.
nux make baby bottles, no?
That's just nux.
There is a very easy mod for the nux time core that turns it into something craymazing! Check out ”seppuku fx digital water”. Very easy mod to diy!
Please file all "dog hair stuck to head" comments here.
don't forget dog hair stuck to black t-shirt and dog hair stuck to beard. Both are a thing. Soon, you shall see....
There's long gray hair stuck to your head 😛
when someone takes a hangover cure literally
The second you pointed it out it instantly became the only thing I could focus on hahaha
I was entranced with it for a while before I even realized what was going on there LOL Seriously though, can we see your dog?
WHAT WHAT WHAT! The _Benn and Gear_ jingle is back? Rejoice! 🤗
its always the quick little things you throw into a vid ever so briefly that end up changing my experiences for the better. I had no idea about the fakespot extension. A+
it’s amazing how much your IR improved the sound
For a band as heavy as DEP telling you to use less distortion (which I learned through the course of recording and layering guitars over years and wish someone had told me like that), I’d love to have been a fly on the wall to see your reaction.
Putting "Nux Cerberus" in the title, or even in your text, might help people find this great review and drive folk to your channel.
NuX puts out some pretty great stuff for the price, as does Joyo. A great multi-effects unit is a valuable tool for newer guitarists in that it gives you tons of options to explore what tones you do and don't like. Then when you want to really invest in a sound you like, you can pick up some of the more expensive pedals (but to be honest even the cheaper multi effects units often have a handful of effects/amp sims that far outperform what their price would suggest). I still have my Zoom MS-50G around just for the sheer amount of effects it has - and many of them sound excellent.
this is the strategy i went with & it surprises me that it isn’t recommended more often. A $50 distortion shouldn’t be considered a beginner pedal IMO.
HOLY SHIT! You're the guy from The Flashbulb?! I randomly stumbled upon Opus At The End Of Everything a year or 4 or 5 ago when The Trees In Juarez popped up in some mix. Been listening to it from time to time. Awesome man!
Several times I’ve heard you say show me a multi effects pedal with good reverb. And every time I just think “Helix”. They’re great.
Hey Brother!! Great site !
I use this for gigs ! Great piece of Gear for the buck ! I wish I could change the ir on the fly
I can just use the ir preset loaded in slot 1
Keep up the good work !
Regards from 🇨🇭
“Less is more,” so true for so many things, and something you only learn with age and experience. Sometimes I think the main point of owning more gear is to use more of it all less (e.g. using 10% of 5 things typically leads to much better results than 50% of 2 things). Much like cooking. My fav reverb is still Vermona Dual Spring Reverb. Don’t really need much beyond that aside from some fab filter sometimes.
Love my Cerberus! I plug it into a Princeton reverb amp and have everything I need to do everything from ballads to all out Rock 🤘
I never knew you played with TDEP. They are one of my 5 favorite bands of all time. Between your YT, your background, and your views on Twitter, you're one of my favorite humans. Hope to meet you one day.
Same. Now I’m trying to find the heavy flashbulb stuff.
@@almightytreegod They're mostly one-off tracks unless there's a whole album of them I'm unaware of. See "Stabmyself," "The Trees In Juarez," and "Kirlian Voyager."
@@almightytreegod Acidwolf my dude.
It would be great if NUX put some of the functionality of the MG300 into a small metal stage worthy platform like the Cerberus. But sometimes it's nice to have limitations without option overload.
This✓
Super happy to hear you decide to do the patreon! I was wondering what your plan was for the pricing though, Will there be a set minimum like $10 or will it basically be like pay what you want starting at $1 like I know they used to do?
Benn I suggest you pick up the NUX Tape Core pedal, excellent RE-201 space echo simuation I love love love it more than my Boss RE-20. There are extra parameters for wow/flutter that you can mess with via MIDI over the USB interface! The MIDI control is undocumented, but they have a software editor for the extra parameters & just use a MIDI monitor software to get the values. I use touchOSC to tweak it on the fly from my phone, so rad.
Disassembling people is one of the greatest purposes and joys of life.
The NUX MG300 is awesome for someone starting out and practicing for $150.
I take everything I buy apart, its the best way to learn about it and become familiar with it and it's quality (or lack thereof) and I've found some genuinely found some fantastic "home grown chinese" products that were completely original and that I could tell were a labor of love and I'm super happy to see that kind of thing. Just like with my IEMS and dac/amp. All chinese, all fantastic quality and affordable. Oh and who said you can't take people apart? I never got the memo. Fantastic JOKE.
Nux roctary is an amazing rotary speaker pedal. The octave feature is a little iffy but overall it's an amazing Jhina made pedal.
Hello. thanx for the review! could you please make a review from a synth prespective for this pedal-mfx?
also can i plug a synyth in delay jack-plug and a drum machine in dist-plug? wil it mix them? work as a 2 chennel mixer?
The most trustworthy youtuber i've ever watch
Shout out to Mod Devices for making the coolest, affordable multi effects unit around, the Mod Dwarf!!
No idea why, but I read that as "Chinese guitar effect" and my first thought was "what does a chinese guitar sound like?" then "why would I want my guitar to sound like a chinese guitar?"
That Nux sounds more than just usable, would be a nice single unit for anyone that doesn't want the clutter of a giant pedalboard with still having some very good functionality and sound.
I wonder how it does with synths?
Some years back when I wanted to pick up my guitars some more I bought a Nux Drive Force to have a nice selection of typical overdrive/distortion effects. Been getting some very good use out of it.
Lately actually using it as a Send on the mixer to put drums and acid-lines through. They really manage to put a lot of bang for bucks. For a company from "Tjaina" that is.
They seem to distinguish themselves pretty well in terms of quality and functionality and I don't really feel that they compromise a lot on either.
A lot of products say there made in the USA, UK etc but they don't mention a majority of their components come from China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Russia etc., in my country very little is made locally so I focus on if the product is worth the expense and if it works properly.
NUX, MOSKY and JOYO are amazing companies.
Thier Mighty Mite little amp is great for what it is.
Got 2 Nux pedals, amp academy and Masumune...gonna trade in the Masamune in for a JHS Pulp and Peel V4 it's ok I just want the JHS for the rat, boost and the XLR extras and it sounds better.
Great playing man. You really hate using that pinky, huh? ; - )
I have a pretty even balance of Premium vs Cheapo pedals.
Some of the Premiums are themselves clones in one way or another so that aspect doesn't bother me.
I've had two Donner Morphers which sounded great but one just broke and the other I broke trying to mod it.
After that I bought a real Suhr Riot wich the Morpher circuit was a clone of.
Those tiny SM components are a bugger to solder ...
👍on the NU-X .
I have a Mod Core sitting on my board next to pedals x3 it's cost.
Caline I have found to be an excellent Chinese brand. Mooer also.
Not saying that there aren't clones amongst it's offerings but they'll be good clones when there are.
Love my Mod Core Deluxe and my Calines & Mooers.
I have not tried this; however, watching demo videos of this unit make me think that the OD and distortion are dark. How are they at volume?
Sorry if this was said, I've been on a mission looking for the answer elsewhere.
Will the Cerberus support line level from a synth without needing a reamp?
Anyone know how to sync the delay to a DAW? I tried hitting up NuX and they deemed it a silly question and quit communicating with me… I may sell it out of spite ;)
Shimmer sounds like Titanic scrapping iceberg as heard inside the engine room
Nux pedals are pretty good, my friend swears by his delay, it's the smaller one called timecore or something
Good day Benn! Here's a toast from a fellow lefty who's too poor to buy proper left handed guitar 🍻
Did you notice that he also plays upside-down? (Fat strings on bottom) I saw a band years ago and the guitarist played like that. I asked him why. He said it was because almost everyone plays righty and before he had his own guitar he would borrow them from friends. Right-handers, of course. And so he just learned that way.
@@vprice509 i do. I play that way for years before properly switching the string and changing the nut of the guitar, but still using guitars designed for right handed usage. It gives me advantage of being capable of using other people guitars but they can't use mine unless they're left handed too lol.
I don't care what side of politics you're on either Benn, the way Trump says CHY-NAH is fucking highlarious and the 3min compilation of him saying CHY-NAH has had me doubled over crying laughing more than once :-)
Just curious, why do you playing guitar upside down, is there benefits?
...or you can save money and get a Boss GT-1, with many more features. A few years ago I downsized from my GT-100 to the GT-1 and added the SY-300 and it's about the same size as the GT-100.
So... presumably the guitar being held upside down thing was explained some time before? Would love to hear what's with that regardless.
He is left handed
@@valley_robot Yeah, but there are left-handed guitars for that. He is holding a RIGHT-handed guitar in a left-handed orientation. He has a video about that, apparently, which I forgot that I watched even before posting, so never mind.
Check out the Nux Atlantic. I'd like to hear you do a short review.
I could be wrong but I think the Atlantic is the left side of this pedal.
Hey hey. What would be a good beginner synth for someone who wants something polyphonic types.
Arturia MicroFreak or Korg Minilogue
killing people to examine their insides is frowned upon, but
disassembly reveals useful pathways, I've been told...
I hear that Dimebag Darrel riff! RIP Dime
Flood by Pantera
GOKKO AUDIO MX300 on amazon looks exactly the same but for $119. does anyone know for sure?
Probably the same rebranded device
You can keep the "piece of popcorn". I have 3 bags worth. I'm good thanks! :P
8:56... PANTERA!!!!!!!!!!!! The Greeeeeeeat.... Southeeeeeern.... Treeeend-KIIIIIIIILLLL!!!
Is that what it was? Whatever it was, I liked it.
@@overand Yes. It's the outro of the song "Floods", from The Great Southern Trendkill album (1996). Amazing album, amazing song, amazing riff.
8:57 Please, I need name of this song!! :o
The Flashbulb - Sun Rise Jul (Backmasked)
pantera floods
You dont seem like the kind of guy who would pull a cheecky Floods riff out.
It did sound rather like the record tho. 👍
Hi Flashbulb. Would you recommend this amplifier for metal music?
You can probably do better with effects boxes for making metal, I think this unit is better served for beginning players or people with very little pedal board space
Would be curious how easily those cheap clones are ported to eurorack
Easy, but you need level adjustment circuit, that's all.
Most of the smaller pedals can be mounted in the case once you make a face plate.
What do you think Uli is doing right now? -> www.gearnews.com/behringers-latest-crazy-idea-is-to-port-guitar-pedals-to-eurorack/
Agreeing with Dillinger on the low gain is more gain hahah volume>gain. Air moving, is heavier than distortion. Compare the fizzing of your soda, to the girth of your soda burps.
My bad ha hah I thought this was about Chinese string instruments in a multi pedal box.
So did I
If "You" are producer from US or UE who do not produce at your place.
Rhen you just figure head ... with out infrastructure.
... ill tell you whats distracting ... that stray grey hair , twanging out on the right hand side of his head :-s
Question: .....NO COMPRESSOR, or....?....:-)
In the hands of Benn and the axe will play.. (joke)
4 minute crew
Re Distortion: try 1%. But like, not all the time.
9:26... damn
Hi there all, I'm doing some research on this pedal. I just watched this video which says the headphone output doesn't utilise the cab sim --> ua-cam.com/video/prib5WNfBr4/v-deo.html is this accurate? If so, how do you use this pedal at home while everyone is at sleep and do the tones and volumes sound representative of when you use it playing live?
Headphones output does utilise cab sim.
That's my exact guitar! Haha
CHINA!
I will do a drinking game on how many you said china tho
nux is history , checkout mooer
Idk, judging by this video this Nux sounds massively better than my Mooer multifx. Sadface
@ Oh Really , well debatable . To me NUX sounds more like a tin can 'shrill' . May be Benn will have funtime comparing these 2 , ;)
malviviendo music buff neno
if i sign up to patreon the first thing i'm asking is for you to prove that your not the brilliant producer, bonobo. ill accept that your his removed at birth twin, but thats it
