I know we're all snake-people... but the 2 maps and the flattened musk took the cake for me! Always love to see dad on the show! Cheers!
Well, most of us are "snake-people", but I think there are a few undercover birder spies among us.
I grew up in rural North Alabama. I always thought it was beautiful there; I'm glad that someone who knows and appreciates nature as much as you also thinks so.
Cool story
Why is it that most people who grow up in those very beautiful places don’t appreciate them? Very beautiful place with a nice bio diversity.
I live in South Carolina. Western Alabama reminds me a ton of the Pee Dee region of SC I stay in. Great people in a beautiful state.
Same, although I never realized the bit he mentioned about the ecological diversity of turtles throughout the state.
Omg, ive never even heard of a flattened musk turtle. What a beautiful species. The 2 maps were excellent. And the snakes were just amazing. Those timbers were all amazing specimens. Noah, ylur herping skills are cream of the crop. Its mind blowing how you never fail to make a dope ass video that is educational at that. Catch you on the flip-side big dog.
Richard from Arkansas
I can just imagine that little map turtle yelling, “M-O-M! this strange human just held me up out the water!” As he swam away. His little legs were going at turbo speed to get away from Noah.🤣
Best UA-camr
I believe Noah might be the most prolific herper in the United States. Granted, there's a lot of qualified competition but Noah earned his status. His knowledge is advanced and his field time is absolutely insane.
People should look up to him. And he should be proud of himself 😊
Alabama nature is truly amazing.
Oh man I could’ve shown you all the snake spots haha!
WOW!!! Alabama Map Turtle is 100% my favorite turtle ever shown on this channel!! And that institu on Copperhead #2 was awsome!!!
Interesting how regional color variations can differ so much. The Timbers are much more colorful there in AL whereas the Eastern Box are probably the most spectacularly colored in their North Eastern range (NY, NJ, CT). I’ve never seen such a beautiful Timber or such drab Boxies up here.
Shredder helmet from TMNT. That little turtle is cool.
That N. Alabama scenery was incredible!!
I love watching the creek walking, mainly because I’m not mobile enough to be able to do it myself. Scenery was AMAZING.
Stunning habitats and beautiful animals. Best part of all no other people !
Love your videos guy! This was my life as a kid, but we didn't have cameras and camera phones so the memories only live I my head- some of my favorite times.
Best herp was the rare ham cheese sammich
Excellent video Noah! Always nice to see new species of anything. Those turtles were so cool looking! I am so glad you had a good trip and I can’t wait for the next adventure! I hope you had a great 4th of July!!! 😄💙🐬🐍🐊🫶🏼🎇🎆
I’m enjoying your content so far. Keep up the great work and hello from Minnesota to you
No WAY! That dinosaur-looking turtle was SO COOL!
I'm still not recovered from rattlesnakes in the trees...
Nah that was sooo cool. Would kill to go out there. Withhhhhh huge sun hats of course.
3:48 the rattler is busy
6:25 love seeing dad.
Map turtles are among my favorite turtles, really nice to see them in their natural range.
Incredible habitat
And finds
Freakin' awesome video. I like it when Noah goes outside of his home turf and knocks it out of the park.
Piney creek in limestone county al would be wonderful to herp. I heard a wood thrush singing in this video.(8.20) It's my favorite bird song. Anyway,it's such fun to see such a diversity of interesting wildlife that this beautiful video portrayed. I'd give this a 10.10 as one of the best videos you have ever made. Just wonderful!!!🦎🐍🪱🐲
I used to play in the woods in Clayton Co south of Atlanta...I've never seen a map turtle in GA. I've found a salamander that was black with yellow spots and I saw a brown skink that seemed like a foot long climb up a tree in Henry County. The yellow black skinks and anoles were always common.
Thank you for the shout-out for AL's biodiversity! 👍
Nice flattened musk turtle. That was my 1st project in the summer of 91. 👍🙂
One of your best videos 🎉
I live in North Bama, Cullman to be precise. Some Gorgeous timbers here as well as other venomous species.
Cool story
Deathcon666 you're story is cool too
That was awesome!
The Mobile River delta is one of the most biologically diverse areas in the US. I remember reading a report a few years ago that it also has the highest rate of species extinctions in the states. The oblong rocksnail thought to be extinct was discovered in one small section of creek. I believe it has made a decent comeback, but is still threatened.
The Colorado river area and Salton Sea floodplain river area in SE Cali has some high rates as well. I’m
Not sure about other animals, but leopard frogs, mud turtles, and Sonoran desert toads have all been extirpated. Although I plan on double checking all 3 species some day :)
So really cool spots today! and some really cool finds and incredible scenery too!
As a kid growing up in Alabama, we camped at Lake Chinabee a lot. It’s in the Talladega National Forest just outside Cheaha State Park.
At night, we had to be cautious walking to the bathroom on the asphalt because the copperheads LOVED the asphalt paths.
A lot of awesome finds
Spectacular video Noah and company 👍🏻🇺🇸
Worm and king snake buddies 😂 too good
They were out to dinner, well at least the King snake was.
Nice vipers and turtles. Very beautiful new turtle species. Also, this river environment was very beautiful, green and full of life. It isn’t only Georgia that has beautiful ecosystems. This might be even better. The first rattlesnake had a clearly juvenile sounding rattle. I didn’t expect a kingsnake to be active at night.
Black Kingsnakes seem more nocturnal than Easterns
Nice. You were in my neck of the woods!!
Where is this at in North Alabama? I live in Central Alabama but would love to visit and see all the pretty nature shown in this video
Loved that second baby Map Turtle; the markings made him/her look like a Mexican wrestler!
Beautiful Pandorus Sphinx!
The way those moths fly just like hummingbirds always freaks me out. You don’t expect to see hummingbirds darting around at dusk.
Thanks again 👍
Awesome video one of the best ones. So many venomous snakes
❤all animals!! 🦥🐢🐸my favorite
Lived in 'Bama all my life. Never seen so many snakes.
As always, great video!!
Great herping video, really enjoyed it 👍
Cool Spiny Softshell Leech!
Had the same thought
Never heard of the Flattened Musk, incredible areas.
you should go to blackwell swamp next time you’re in north alabama. also what county was this. I have seen one timber ever in morgan county but on the northern side of tennessee river they’re way easier to find and would like to see more only ever seen two
The N Bama Flat turtle was the Bomb and my first visual!
That snorkel mask looks like what I need. Where did you get it, and what brand is it??
Love your herping better than anyone else!! Thanks for sharing!
You should come up to Indianapolis Sept 27-29 for ColubridFest. You would be a great guest.
Underwater video of turtles is my faviorite parts.
Man some of those caves and rock formations were incredible almost looked prehistoric
The Map Turtle aka the "You Shall Not Pass" turtle!
The camera quality is excellent
That ham and cheese sandwich looks legit.
That turtle has a mohawk !
I bet the Laowa macro probe lens would be awesome for some of those snake pics.
Great video ! Can I ask what temperature it is in the day around those creeks
When you come to Mississippi, I would love to tag along.
A+
Noah what part of Alabama is that? I’d love to see that scenery- minus the fresh water leech lol
Found my first dor. 😢 Sucks man. Had just been hit too. Beautiful black snake
You jinked ur self saying you were going to see many copperheads at the end lol - absolutely awesome video man -
Can I ask why you didn’t pick up the flattened mud turtle? Are they protected- just curious
I do believe they were recently federally protected so yeah, hands off without permits.
@@NKFherping thanks
NKFherping, is the rock outgrows in mossy rock preserve? Near birmingham alabama
Hey Sir would you ever consider a contest where the winner could go herping with you?
Warming on the road.States should have 🐍 lil area's away from the roads made 4 Warming them up😳 😊
Wow, that Alabama map turtle is really interesting. He's got a little Sonic thing going on.
What county is this? I saw at the end you were driving in Birmingham.
Is the Alabama Map turtle also called the Razorback Map turtle or is a different sub-species? I’ve never seen a Flattened Mud turtle before, a very interesting video!
That’s probably another common name for the same turtle.
Boy you have gotten me used to snakes, BUT NOT LEECHES, 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱
Where y’all at in north Alabama I live in north Alabama and been out looking for snakes
As kids in the 60’s we gather
Those little turtles and took
Them to school in a jar sold
Them for a dime
Viperidae representing early
Copper head are aggressive surprised they laid around that long they will come after you but it’s night time day time there hard to to spot.
More reptile radness
Your my lil worm snake.
Fuck yeah
DOES NORTH ALA HAVE DBR?
Where in North Alabama was this?
Since the last part of the video showed them driving into Huntsville AL. on Hwy 72 West, I would deduct that they likely were in Jackson County. But, this type of wildlife and scenery can be found in multiple counties in Northeast Alabama. Jackson County, Marshall County, Dekalb County and Etowah County. I live in Marshall County. So, this terrain and wildlife is very familiar to me. If I were a betting man, I'd say this was somewhere close to the borders of Jackson County, Marshall County and Dekalb County.
@@shane8915 Thank you , the reason I asked I'm originally from Etowah County.
@@williamblack4097 Nice! I spent a lot of my youth hanging out at the strip in Gadsden. Before the cops shut it down. It was a pretty nice little city. The last time I was there, it had really went downhill. But, I think that can be said about any town or city in this country now.
@@shane8915 Absolutely , Goodyear closing was the end of an era. Yes it really sad how deindustrialization has affected so much of the US. Gadsden was probably at its in the 1970's.
Hello
Can you tell me if Jefferson county has dbr
Nope
What town?
Russell Cave
Where in Alabama?

God Bless Alabama Governor George Wallace!!!
