First time I have watched this clip. Seeing Raul Rekow in the back there..... Seen him live three times. Such a brilliant conga player and such a sad loss. :(

Those bluesy rock and roll guys like Clapton and Santana are all about fast runs and bent notes, and the slide players are about the sound (after all, they've only got one 'finger' on the neck. It really makes for a great combination. Trucks has taken the slide way beyond Duane Allman, and Joe Bonamassa is doing the same with the Clapton style.
C'mon Hugo...give the man the credit he deserves. He is not overrated. He is an awesome talent who has earned and deserves every bit of the respect he gets as a musician. Alot of times, when playing live, musicians will stray from their recorded versions of songs. That's normal and is a practice exhibited by many great musicians. BTW, you keep going back to watch him live so he apparently has some kind of draw where you're concerned. Don't hate the player...hate the game dude.
alot of the sound CARLOS is putting out now ,is the damn guitar he is playing,i think it is one of damn paul reed smiths, he started out on a gibson,his sound changed,drastically ,listen to that tinny sound,hate it,started in about 1998,DERRICK IS STILL EVOLVING,HE'S YOUNG,and driven,he is spurred by DUANNE ALLMAN INFLUENCE,he burns with it, it hear it,DO NOT SAY ANYTHING ABOUT CARLOS SANTANA,HE HAS PAID HIS DUES,when you're at woodstock,you're on the right track even if you're high-respect
seriously man !!! Carlos santana as great so many classic song because of this I respect him, because there is not a lot of people who can say this. But unfortunattely Carlos Santana his sooo Overated because when he's playing on CD He always sound ok for me but every times I watch him live I always get angry because he always makes mistake and his bend sound false and his trying too play faster but he is not that kind of guitarist so he is always making mistake and for there is no groove at all
