To quote Sir Alex Younger (newly retired Head of MI6 who was actually the longest serving Head of MI6)- France has eclipsed us and Brexit has marginalised us!!!
EU intransigence is the big problem here, not Brexit. Same reason customs checks are inexorably long entering the EU at La Linea, mindless EU rules and regulations
Coming from a former colony in africa, I am proud of our freedom fighters. Lookin at Gibraltar, Northern Ireland and Scotland among others, you see willing subjugation (or perhaps lost/non-existent indigenous identity).
Gibraltar is not in the UK, technically or otherwise. It is an British Overseas Territory. It is largely self-governing, and has no representation in the UK parliament.
Been many years since I was there, was always long queue to enter due to arguments with Spanish Government, from what I remember La Linea was a dump - but I believe Spain has invested quite a bit on that town.
La Linea is still a dump. Massive unemployment and under employment (getting a job in Gib is your best bet, unless you can get in on the drugs trade), black market economy, just awful schools, it's the typical failed EU dystopia typical of the southern Mediterranean.
Thanks for that. The Britishness of Gibraltar is more or less the same as Guernsey. Not surprising really. EU in Brussels is turning out to be a lumbering non accountable bureaucracy.
Correct, but there are a couple of technical differences. Gibraltar is a British Overseas Territory, formely a colony but largely self-governing. Guernsey is a Crown Dependency - the link is through the same head of state. If anything, Britain is Guensey's colony (via William Duke of Normandy aka William I of England)
"To get across to Gibraltar you need a passport, if you are a non EU citizen" You need a passport if you are an EU citizen! Where are you getting your info from?
that isn't true, EU citizens are waved through within seconds if they show their national identity cards, something we don't have in the UK. Information is all available on the internet! :)
4:48 That is a passport that has been to quite a few places! 😂
it's been on quite a few trips haha!

Good video dude we live here. Subscribed.
Gibraltar hotels are pricey. Better to stay in a la linea hotel 5 mins walk from the border and walk in each day.
Excellent quick guide to Gibraltar and not too much denigration of Brexit, so I enjoyed it. Many thanks!
Denigration of brexit!!! The majority of the uk population now agree that it was an act of self harm and should never have happened.

Taking back control is no one way street. How surprising.

i do mention that in the video a few times hehe!
Worth noting that they get fuel, water and electricity from Spain and Spain sorts their waste water out for them to EU standards.

La Linea isn't the most glamorous, but it seemed like everything there was cheaper!
@@SomeoneExplores - yes, as I said, I am sure quite a bit has been invested in the town.

The EU survives while the UK rots.

@@SomeoneExplores apologies, you are correct.
it is those who have residency in the EU, and an accompanying resident's card, that are turned away.
Yeah, about that...when are you going to give the stolen land back to Spain?
Come and get it jajajaja 😉
@@Evemeister12 Eventually Spain will, do not worry about that.
