When I grieve The Holy Spirit with my sin I also get very sad because He lives inside my heart. I can still sin but I can't ever be happy living that lifestyle. When I sin I know it. Sin is horrible and, though there is temporary fake pleasure in sin, it's end leads to death. Jesus was raised from the dead and thus I also need to be raised to new life as a born again Christian. People are "dead in tressasses and sin" prior to salvation, so I also see the resurection as symbolic of being born again....even though Jesus literally rose from the dead. We need to be raised to new life. Prior to salvation we are walking dead people in a spiritual sense. So when a person is born again we come alive spiritually as well. Jesus said to raise the dead which happens when a person gets saved which means to share the Gospel with people. When a person becomes saved a dead person was raised from the dead in a spiritual sense even though sometimes in the Bible a dead person was raised literally. God is so good and my Theology is under construction and every time I read through The Bible I learn somethig new that gives me a new understanding and/or insight. We can read through The Bible our whole lives and God will always give us a new understanding of something we didn't see before. My Mom and I read The Bible out loud every night, from cover to cover, at 7:00 in our living room and tonight we finished the New American Standard Translation. We have now read through The Message.....New King James (multiple times)....King James (multiple times)....and New American Standard. We plan to do this until we are with Jesus literally even though Jesus is with us spiritually now "Always until the end of the age." Tommorow we start all over in Genesis! I can't wait to see Him face to face. I don't want to miss that for the world! We have a very exciting eternity to look forward to beyond anything we can ever imagine. Thank You Jesus! It’s not works based even if you just have the desire to not sin you have true faith the man who died on the cross next to Jesus was saved and he didn’t have the time to do any works but we know he would of if he could have. There’s people on the internet who will try to make a paradox out of it and hide works based salvation in a faith based salvation. You cannot lose your salvation if you are truly saved you will desire to live a Christlike life and if they fall God will pick them back up. There’s a different between willful sin that comes from our souls desires and sin that comes from the reality of the flesh but our souls desire to be Christlike as Christians. I hope this made sense read Romans 5-6.

Can you point me to scripture that talks about the difference between “willful sin that comes from our souls” and “sin that comes from the reality of our flesh”? This is a totally new idea to me. I am struggling a lot with sin and would appreciate some scripture to help discern what I am struggling with. Thank you once again for your reply. And thank you also for posting in the first place

To repent is to „turn away“ from the sin.. If your not willing to avoid a certain sin, that‘s not repentance.
