I used to have this dryer, and for 2.5 years it held me down. You have to hold the base, and pull it up to adjust the height. However, I still never felt like it sat at a good height, It does dry pretty well, but I love the one I have now! It’s not loud, It has an MP3 player for me to watch a movie, listen to music, and even take a phone call! I only paid $160 for it, and it’s my baby!!!
Ahhhh yes the white hooded dryer, brings back so many memories! I've had a soft bonnet dryer for about 7 years and I think it's the best for comfort (as long as you buy one with a long tube, you can sit in bed and use it or at a desk or wherever) and compact size.
I decided to go in between the $400 and the $50 hairdryer and went with the one from Sally's for $99. I think it's a little more now, but it is a stand-up rolling one that is smaller and takes up less space than the one you got rid of. The hood size is large, but it fits in my closet when not in use.

A tip about adjusting the height (from an Amazon user who left a review): “Put your hand on the base while pressing down on its button in the middle while also holding onto the neck of the dryer. Pull the neck up hard and it extends.” Great video
I was struggling with the right dryer height too, then a friend suggested putting it on an ironing board. It was a great idea, and as long as you can keep it steady, just adjust the board to the right height 😉 . Hope it helps, happy drying! Thx for the review
I purchased this dryer about 2 months ago from Amazon. I had a coupon and got it $37.00. It replaced a similar one that the cord melted on. Not the same brand though. I like it but I also have to position my head throughout the process in order to attempt to dry my whole head. I always end up using my diffuser to get my roots because I don’t want to lie down in wet hair. I don’t use rollers but I like to sit under the dryer for at least 30-45 minutes after I do my wash and go. It works. By the way I used my Melanin Mirror for the first time and Love it. I altered it a bit in that I added led lights because my tub doesn’t have as much light as I want to do my hair in the shower. I used a motion sensor under cabinet light that’s magnetic. It comes with the strip that you tape to the surface and the light attaches with the magnet. It can stay on or you can put it on the motion sensor. I had a small mirror you know cause they mostly make them for men for shaving but yours is the perfect size. I have really been trying to find a larger one with no luck. Thanks sis.
I’ve had one of these since as far as I can remember. Sit it on a desktop and adjust. The height adjustment is right by the base. If there were instructions it should show it. Love my dryer, use her weekly
I love this dryer. Not sure if this will help, but I have a standing desk with a motor to adjust the desk height. So, when I use this hooded dryer, I just put it on my standing desk so I can ultimately adjust the dryer to be the perfect height while I’m sitting.
I had this dryer for a good year or more. It's definetely worth the money, it gets really hot. The heat all comes from the top so I noticed it wasn't the best at fully drying wash and go's. I ended up buying a Pibbs knock-off a few months ago. If you're on a budget, this is still a good one.
This brings back memories. I'm older. I loved my hooded dryer. Then my sister discovered I had one. It disappeared with her one day. Sally's always comes through.
I purchased this dryer about 6 months ago and it's gets the job done. I like it! I had trouble figuring out how to lock the hood in place also....to adjust the height hold the down the base with one hand and pull upward on the neck (the first couple times you'll need to use slight force). It will click for each level. Hope that helps! 😊

I have the same dryer and love it! To adjust the height hold the base down VERY firmly and pull hard on the neck. It will adjust 2-4 inches. Gets easier after you do it a few times. Also, I put it on a TV tray and use a computer desk chair that you can raise up and down - so you can just adjust the height of the chair, instead of the dryer. You can also swivel left or right to help dry the hair.
I have that same eye pallet by Pat McGrath and my friends said i was crazy for spending that much for for eye shadow. Love this video but i love my Pibs hair dryer. That 400 was well spent. I bought it years ago when you recommended it and i am still in love with it. It does take up space but i cannot part with it. Since i now have locs i can never go to bed with my hair wet. I bought this same hooded dryer and took it right back. The heat gets really hot and blows out fine but it only drys the top portion of your hair only. I noticed that the holes on the inside of it are several inches above the rim therefore causing it to dry my hair unevenly. They really don't make quality hooded dryers like they used to unfortunately. I had to end up getting the same brand RED by KISS but an older used model #BOD02N KCNLJ12. The holes are only 2 1/4" (inches) from the rim on this model. Much more even drying. It's wonderful!

I recently purchased the Collins Temptura & yes it's expensive but oh is it worth it, my drying time is so short & the hood is big enough to cover my entire head ahhhhmazing

I just bought this dryer today on sale at my local beauty supply. It was only $39. I roller set my hair, and it only took an hour and ten minutes on medium to dry. I have high porosity hair, so it usually dries fast. I used 1 1/2" rollers. The height is fine for me because I have an adjustable stool in my bathroom. No book stacking necessary. I cannot complain. I also have a RevAir so I did not want to buy another expensive hair dryer since I air dry my curly hair most weeks. This is an affordable option and it does when it is intended to do.

Yeah I've had hooded dryers from hair supply stores. It's hard to place it. Always end up stacking books. Its great for the top of your hair. Hard to get the neck area

Girl! I am sorry you had issues adjusting the dryer, but I am happy to hear that I am not the only one that had issues figuring out how to set up this dryer. It was worth the struggle. Using it takes me back to my childhood because it reminds me of the hooded dryer my mother used to use after she washed our hair. I am back to natural and this dryer takes me back to the basics. The only thing missing is some royal crown hair grease and a hot comb heating on the stove.

you have to hold the base and lift at the neck to release the adjustable height. I bought it last month and had to watch a youtube video on how to adjust it.

I have that dryer & the neck portion of it adjusts. It's hard @ first, but if u hold the base & pull up the neck portion @ the same time it'll raise up.
After a decade of using a cheap Revlon hand dryer (nothing against Revlon and I recently got a flat iron from them that I LOVE), I got an "infrared" hand dryer by Red and wow, I feel the difference. The air feels...softer. If you've never used one, you'd think all blow dryers are the same, like I initially did, but there is a very obvious difference in the airflow. For example, while I have a diffuser, I got the eame result with the Red dryer without using it. Based off of that, I think I could become a fan of theirs and a product like this would be great for being able to be hands free. Been wanting a hooded dryer, but didn't have a place to set one up. Now that I'm moving out on my own with no roommate, I can use something like this in the living room or kitchen without looking weird 😂
yeah, the height issue was the reason why i got rid of my old one similar to this one (so, so long ago...when we still had phone books). i just decided to air dry from that point on and decided: my hair is gone do what its gone do.

I was hoping to find a "VS" comparison on youtube, but to no avail. So I poked my head in on this video and then read the comments only to find people commending your hair care products. @Star It's the Modern Elements Ionic Dryer. I've had it for about 5yrs so it costs a bit more now. Sally's always has sales though. lol

I just bought this dryer today on sale at my local beauty supply. It was only $39. I roller set my hair, and it only took an hour and ten minutes on medium to dry. I have high porosity hair, so it usually dries fast. I used 1 1/2" rollers. The height is fine for me because I have an adjustable stool in my bathroom. No book stacking necessary. I cannot complain. I also have a RevAir so I did not want to buy another expensive hair dryer since I air dry my curly hair most weeks. This is an affordable option and it does when it is intended to do.

Yeah I've had hooded dryers from hair supply stores. It's hard to place it. Always end up stacking books. Its great for the top of your hair. Hard to get the neck area

Girl! I am sorry you had issues adjusting the dryer, but I am happy to hear that I am not the only one that had issues figuring out how to set up this dryer. It was worth the struggle. Using it takes me back to my childhood because it reminds me of the hooded dryer my mother used to use after she washed our hair. I am back to natural and this dryer takes me back to the basics. The only thing missing is some royal crown hair grease and a hot comb heating on the stove.

you have to hold the base and lift at the neck to release the adjustable height. I bought it last month and had to watch a youtube video on how to adjust it.

I went ahead last year and bought a DIR Capsule II free standing dryer and it was worth every damn penny!! Best purchase for my natural hair. It is a professional dryer.

I have that dryer & the neck portion of it adjusts. It's hard @ first, but if u hold the base & pull up the neck portion @ the same time it'll raise up.
After a decade of using a cheap Revlon hand dryer (nothing against Revlon and I recently got a flat iron from them that I LOVE), I got an "infrared" hand dryer by Red and wow, I feel the difference. The air feels...softer. If you've never used one, you'd think all blow dryers are the same, like I initially did, but there is a very obvious difference in the airflow. For example, while I have a diffuser, I got the eame result with the Red dryer without using it.
Based off of that, I think I could become a fan of theirs and a product like this would be great for being able to be hands free. Been wanting a hooded dryer, but didn't have a place to set one up. Now that I'm moving out on my own with no roommate, I can use something like this in the living room or kitchen without looking weird 😂
yeah, the height issue was the reason why i got rid of my old one similar to this one (so, so long ago...when we still had phone books). i just decided to air dry from that point on and decided: my hair is gone do what its gone do.

I have the same dryer and I hate it. It’s too late to return. Its certainly useable just awkward adjusting. I had a sit under dryer from JC Penney that I loved. I had it for years until it fell over one day and broke in half. Oh well.

Stumbled upon your video looking for a review on two different table top hair dryers. The red by kiss 1875 w, which you reviewed here, and the Hot & Hotter Super Large Turbo Pro Hood Dryer 3000 . I was hoping to find a "VS" comparison on youtube, but to no avail. So I poked my head in on this video and then read the comments only to find people commending your hair care products. I went to your website only to find that the conditioners are sold out. Would like to know when they might be back in stock. Think I'd like to give them a try. Ive been in search of a new dryer for weeks! The universe has granted me answers lol is it much louder than your previous one?
Already cracked and superglued mine back together 🤣 I like it but it does topples over a lot. I tried using it on my daughter and it toppled and bumped her head. Now I strictly use the soft bonnet attachment for her.
