I have been a mechanic for over 40 years, and have built every thing on the road to include race cars and race bikes. Nitro engines are in fact two stroke, and when run to lean will heat up and if allowed to get very hot, will destroy themselves. and eventually lock up. When they lean out the first thing to do is richen up the mixture. You can use the blue smoke method which helps them to stay cool. You need to richen the needle up to see smoke all the time, but two strokes produce more power when they are close to lean. Some people tune them for racing and run the ragged edge to being to lean. That is where a temp gun can help!

For a beginner, I would recommend it, but so long as they aren't looking to drastically change carb settings or make a big change in plugs, not needed. I started in nitro with one but found myself not using it on factory tuned motors.

Great video. Ive never used a glow powered buggy, but i do with my air planes. Usually four stroke glow engine's. But everything you said applies the same. Sound, smell, colour of the smoke, and touch. If I've tuned to lean you can tell once shit off, you'll see the leaked oil smoldering off as a slight heat wave. Extrnal temp will change from day to day with day temperature, due to the heat sink size. Our plane motors have much, Much smaller cooling heads due to usually being in the prop wash. 👍 Again, great video

We used to drip a drop of water on the head to judge the engine temperature. We quickly learned to leave the shell off on a hot summers day to increase the airflow.

If you get joy out of monitoring temperatures then go for it. I just send it until something doesn't seem right.

As a basher dont rearly need one as only running rtr mainly but as a racer with a decent £400 plus engine you want a temp reader as better to be safe than sorry

Would like to have a follow up on the nova b3. Did you manage to fix it? Would be interested in knowing why you were having thes issues.

HaG in the last 4 or 5 videos you've se almost perfect video's. But if you would concentrate on you and the beginner's Only.it would have been greatness.beginners don't need to know what everyone else is saying. This your channel your teaching course your not opinion everyone else's opinion.all That other stuff doesn't.theyll go watch other ppl for another opinions.i wouldn't try to change their minds about how to or not Too before they try to themselves, you spent more explaining what other ppl does or say they do than you do do Yeah i said do do 🤣🤣 take away all about other and video couldn't have been Better. I had to give you Hard Time I've been slacking on that part.but ive watch every video never missed 1 on both channel.yiu remind of Titts on a boar hog jk laterr Bro 👊👊

Well I work on the basis they’ve been doing research and watching many videos, not just mine. There are loads out there. So, I like to point out the differences between those
And mine. I think most people have the common sense to put the best of each video together and come up with their own good ways. And the irony of talking about thing that are unnecessary while talking about unnecessary things myself, that’s my humour and without that you wouldn’t have anything to give me a hard time about 😉
