You make your time, respect yourself, work, on the relationship with yourself. You can't be strong for others if you can't be strong for yourself but don't down size your achievements, to be healthy, to be mentally coherent, have faith in God, that alone is good. You've maintained your gift, you have respect within you so respect yourself, every life is equal. You'll never be your ideal self and that's alright don't worry, just keep the hope, every life has made mistakes we're all dealt different cards, different choices, you have a great life to some and bad to others so it doesn't really matter. We do a lot of complaining in our minds, our thoughts are actually a net negative. I'm not saying be obedient but have respect for yourself and forgiveness, to be mindful and present isn't to think about the past, future, or what ifs, it means to be aware of the moment of what's happening now with no feelings or thought attached. Don't be numb just decide how you feel on things, we often don't know how we feel on certain things or we don't allow ourselves to change our minds. No one gets everything I say right, no one is always aware etc... ive cried multiple times to this song. Just lost my job today, this song really be hitting different. Just have to stick to the grind. Gonna have it one day
@@drehardin Appreciate you reaching out. I still don't have a full time job. I've been grinding resumes and cover letters the past two weeks. I got two phone screens this past week, and potentially interview set ups this week (waiting to hear back). The jobs are pretty promising (money wise) and align with my overarching values, characteristics, and skill sets that I would to hone in and master. I've been doing a lot of introspection the past three months, and it's really allowed me to think and I can finally say I feel somewhat at peace for myself. I've never felt happier.
Jobs come and go my friend learn from the lesson god only gave you limited time there to gain the experience and move on. The more you learn the more you earn.
the last time i heard this i was 20 years old homeless living in my work van my wife took off with her daughter and the dope dealer twicw her age and my live was falling even further apart then it already was. i was sitting in my van at 1am thinking about everyone who had fucked me over and everyone i had wronged and everyone who made an impact in my life. i grabbed the notebook next to me and started writing my suicide note listening to a playlist i had created awhile back. in my note i had a section for all the people mentioned above. it was 3 pages front and back. i was about 10 seconds from ending my life when this song came on. 'hear my words listen to my signal of distress' those were the words that caught my attention so i stared off into space and listened to it on repeat and my mind started going crazy with the details of my situation really kicking in looking back it made me realize that if i had never gone through what i went through i wouldnt be where i am now i wouldnt have learned the things ive learned and i realized that im better off then most because i know how to handle just about any situation thrown at me. this song is the reason my music is what it is today and its the reason i am where i am today no longer homeless no longer in the pit i was in 3 years ago. this song saved my life and changed it for the better. this is the goal i have in my music because of this song. is that i can pass on my experience through my own music and hope that one day someone will be writing this same comment about one of my songs you saved my life J Cole
"I grew up in the city and though sometimes we had less Compared to some of my n***** down the block, man, we were blessed" My favourite line, makes you appreciate everything

« So tell me, Momma please, why you be drinkin’ all the time? Does all the pain he brought you still linger in your mind? » This verse broke me in the bottom of my heart. I had this same question every day in my childhood. This bring me some painful memories that I always fear. My father cheated on my mom when I was 2 years old and she never managed to recover that. She never told me that until last year. When that happened, she told me that she wanted to be amnesic. She drink since that day to forget this painful memory. But, drink never help her to get out of this. This stituation made me cry so many times. This song help me trought hard time. J Cole is the one who care about that kind of situation. #coleworld

Still learning to love mine. It's so easy to compare what you have to somebody else who supposedly has more and wished that it was you, and I am still learning to love what I got and be thankful I got it. #lifelessons
Kobe's death brought me to this song. It reminded me of the speech he gave during his jersey retirement speech. "Those times when you get up early and you work hard, those times when you stay up late and you work hard, those times when don’t feel like working - you’re too tired, you don’t want to push yourself - but you do it anyway. That is actually the dream. That’s the dream. It’s not the destination, it’s the journey.” As J. Cole says to understand the beauty in the struggle, it connects exactly with what Kobe said during that speech.
When I said that last week I had no idea of the troubles to come. I needed this song more than ever now that I lost one of the most important people in my life and that person is my dad. Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers in the world and I hope you share the same love with your kids that my dad shared with me.
I pray J Cole keeps speaking the truth and doesn't let Hollywood sway his thinking or change who he is just to make a dollar he's a great rapper as long as people hear his message and keeps touching lives with songs like this money shouldn't even matter, it will come.
This song has been really helping me I was struggling with what I wanted to do in life, was not happy with myself, girl left me, and was at a point of just giving up on life. It’s the holiday season right now. Today is 11/21/2023. I just lost my job and found out I was pregnant. I have a 3 year old and a beautiful husband. Yes he listens to me and actually is EVERYTHING to me. He talks to me but I have a broken heart. Family hurt me. I was a foster child and it still lingers on my heart. So yes during the holidays I’m at my weakest. I always 2nd guess my happiness around the holidays. Overwork myself in the kitchen just for no family to come because in reality Im still that foster kid. Listening to this song builds me up. Nothing is better than YOURS! Love who’s in front of you. Don't fall, you can cry , you can be angry, but don't be weak. And as long as you do stay strong, you're a step closer to having a stronger faith with Jesus Christ and the Lord. For all those Christians that's going through hard times remember we shouldn't be trying to find happiness. Why? Happiness depends upon things happening for you but we should seek joy. ive cried multiple times to this song. Just lost my job today, this song really be hitting different. Just have to stick to the grind. Gonna have it one day
For sure, brother.
How is it going so far ?
3months later.....
We always thank God for opening doors, we never thank him for closing them. You will be good, God bless.

My father played this song for me....he's almost 70 years old....he loves j cole....j cole...you are reaching all ages...keep grinding!!! Much love!!
the last time i heard this i was 20 years old homeless living in my work van my wife took off with her daughter and the dope dealer twicw her age and my live was falling even further apart then it already was. i was sitting in my van at 1am thinking about everyone who had fucked me over and everyone i had wronged and everyone who made an impact in my life. i grabbed the notebook next to me and started writing my suicide note listening to a playlist i had created awhile back. in my note i had a section for all the people mentioned above. it was 3 pages front and back. i was about 10 seconds from ending my life when this song came on.
'hear my words listen to my signal of distress'
those were the words that caught my attention so i stared off into space and listened to it on repeat and my mind started going crazy with the details of my situation really kicking in
looking back it made me realize that if i had never gone through what i went through i wouldnt be where i am now i wouldnt have learned the things ive learned and i realized that im better off then most because i know how to handle just about any situation thrown at me.
this song is the reason my music is what it is today and its the reason i am where i am today no longer homeless no longer in the pit i was in 3 years ago. this song saved my life and changed it for the better. this is the goal i have in my music because of this song. is that i can pass on my experience through my own music and hope that one day someone will be writing this same comment about one of my songs
you saved my life J Cole
I wish he could read this. This is what music is for.

« So tell me, Momma please, why you be drinkin’ all the time?
Does all the pain he brought you still linger in your mind? »
This verse broke me in the bottom of my heart. #coleworld

Yeah bro I feel you. Too easy. Just have to keep grinding.

Hold the family you created close. Those that are for you will surround you. Thank you J COLE for creating a song that took away my pain even if it was temporary that moment of peace of mind was EVERYTHING🙏🏾❤️

but stay strong. Don't fall, you can cry , you can be angry, but don't be weak. And as long as you do stay strong, you're a step closer to having a stronger faith with Jesus Christ and the Lord. May God watch and protect you all, take care.
