@@VortexRadar Just bought the VIOFO A129 Pro Duo after watching some of your other videos, including the video that showed you hardwiring the cam in your girlfriend's car. Thanks again.
I rarely see dashcams reviews without any mistake (but maybe that zoom to show difference between QuadHD and QuadHD+, but that was okay to understand the idea), congratulations! You made it like you invented this camera, you understood very well its functions and features, you talked exactly what I expected to hear and this is very very rare! Also you positioned very well the dashcams for comparisons and this isn't not so simple, not many people can do this. Recording night video under clear sky and stars showed why the Sony chosen the Starvis name: just stars or moon are needed for a Starvis sensor to see something in the dark. Keep the good work! Maybe in a future video you will show us also the playback mode and the feature which is locking and unlocking videos.
Thank you! Yeah I've made mistakes in the past and it's really bothered me. I didn't want to have to release a followup corrections video after this, haha, so I spent a ton of time making sure I did lots of research and everything to hopefully make things as accurate as possible. :)
What an incredibly well-done and very detailed video. Thank you so much. I've been considering buying the Viofo A119 as a Christmas present for my life partner and you sold me on it. Thanks a whole bunch!
Wow. I watch this video straight through. Your integrity has never floundered. This dashcam is definitely on my shopping list from you. Don’t forget not to lecture Luna this long.🕊
I just tested it, with the last firmware V1.03(update 0924) of Feb. 2020. Incredible good dashcam, small so discreet, with the GPS option, CL filter, views are amazing. And all that for a moderate price ! If you need a single dashcam, don't waste your time in searches, buy this one !! I bought a Viofo micro-SD card, you must format it, the easiest is to do it directly on the camera (5 seconds). But no Wifi, some people can regret it, I don't. Jacques, from France.
Thank you very much for your review. It was the BEST review I have ever watched. You are a very talented reviewer who knows what he's talking about. You don't lose time with unnecessary details, and stick to the subject. Beautifully done, to put it mildly. Greetings from Verona-Italy.
If you take a small blob of blu-tack or sticky-tack or whatever you call it and stick it on the emergency record button then you have an easily located tactile marker. I have one on my TV lamp timer which has eight buttons. Since I added the blu-tack I have no trouble finding the button in the dark. You may even find this trick handy to mark a particular button on your TV remote that you otherwise often miss.
Since parking mode is useless in rear collisions it's best to back into a space where no one can park behind you. Thank you for your very thorough review.
Both I and my son has been using the Mini 805 for years but decided to buy one of these to replace my son's non-functioning 805, (base upon your review of this unit). Been a big fan of our videos, so keep up with the good work.
Me: "I wonder how the night recor..." Vortex: "Moving on to nighttime video.." Me: "Man, it gets so hot here in the Summer. I wonder how it holds up in high h..." Vortex: "14F to 149F" This may be the best review of anything I've ever seen.
Vortex Radar I am about to install a v3 with a hardwire kit. My question for you is do I have to turn the parking mode off when I start my vehicle and drive? Thank you!
@@TheJackieOsvaldo Well, I didn't use any clips yet and haven't had massive patience. I just stuck it behind the rear view mirror and folded the long wire, kept most of it in between the sun visor and the roof. That aside it's doing GREAT. 23:10 You convinced me.. I can double cam it lol.. I have to figure out how to wire it, should not be a problem. Now I just have to save up for the V3 lol
@Vortex Radar At 0:20 in the video, you show mounting the camera to that dark stippling in the windshield. Doesn't that interfere with the lens view, or is the lens below that point? I have the same area in my windshield and figured that may be a bad place to mount the cam. Of course, there is a several inch wide band of dark tint across the entire windshield to deal with as well, which may impair the night vision of the lens.
They're great while they work. I've had the Viofo A119S and the version two. I wished that they would build a more reliable product. They both stopped working after about 3-4 months and started resetting every few minutes.
Just bought one based on this review and praise elsewhere like LTT. The clip on CPL filter was a must buy for me to get rid of the windscreen reflections.
Really awesome review. Extremely transparent, informative, and well created. I didn't even know how to start researching for a dash cam, but I will be purchasing this one. Not my favorite that it isn't wifi compatible, but its not a deal breaker. I will be watching your video on how to hardwire my dash cam once it gets in the mail. I gave you a sub and a like for this one, sir.
Your review is second to no one! I have been using a dash cam in my commercial truck for over 10 years. I purchased this camera and right out of the box it will not save an event. Having a hard time getting ahold of customer service.
That’s strange. It should save the clip to a separate read only folder. Hopefully Viofo or your seller can provide you with the support that you need. 👍
IMHO, 60fps makes no sense for this kind of use, it just significantly increases the filesizes. Even if you wanted to use the camera to record some amazing scenic route, there is near zero benefit to have such footage "super-smooth" (60fps)... For the typical dashcam this applies even more. 30fps is perfectly sufficient to capture any crazy shit ppl around you happen to do, including the bypassing registration plates if the resolution/light are good enough. (If the resolution/light sucks higher fps won't help.)
Super detailed video! I purchased one for myself and another for my brother as a birthday gift. I’m thinking of purchasing others for Xmas gifts 🎁 You’ve made me a new subscriber!

@@VortexRadar ok. thanks a lot. I just ordered one called "2019 V3 version" on this site www.dashcamdeal.com/viofo-a119-v3-quad-hd-gps-dashcam.html#section-specifications so I thought there was an 2020 evolution for it (parking mode working with GPS mount plugged in)
Great review. I like the comments about the buttons and ease of getting to the memory card. Also the info on the mounting. I just bought one, but haven't mounted, but now I know about the GPS mount power tip. Also great comparison video shots!
Great review. With the A119 V3, if your driving for a long time the screen will turn off....do you know if it's still recording? When I touch the button to turn the screen back on it shows a recording time of between 1min to 3 min, even if I've been driving for hours. Thanks
Yep, it records continuously. It records files in a series of small chunks (like every dashcam) so you’re not left with huge massive files. Just save the clips you need.
Excellent review, thanks! I recently bought the A119 v3 and was browsing for some setup videos, I'm midway watching and don't know if there'll be something like this included, but it'd be really helpful if you could share your recommended settings for the dashcam. Again thanks for great in depth review. Very helpful so far!
As the parent of a new driver one feature I'd like to have is the ability to see, on a map, where my car has gone along with speeds. Would the GPS option handle that for me? On a side note, I really appreciate the effort you put into all of the information you put out to us. Thank you!
In PARKING MODE, can you turn OFF the MOTION DETECTION option and turn ON the IMPACT DETECTION? I don't want the camera to turn on and record and save files from motion alone. I park on a busy street so it would be constantly on. So can you configure the settings so that it only records when there are impacts?
I'm a Tradie with a Ute (Truck in the USA) and Trailer with tools and machinery in both the back of the Ute tray and on my trailer, I need something that can be attached to the rear window with great parking mode that can record anyone who tries to steel tools of machinery when it is parked on the road side outside of jobs etc. This sounds like a great option BUT the rear window it would be attached to is flat not angled like the windscreen. Lots of Tradies trying to protect their tools in the tray and their trailer might be a good review for you.
Great review. Have you looked at the potential interaction (shading) of the dashcam when mounted near a radar detector? It which positions will the dash cam block the field of view of the detector? Thanks!
I have multiple A119v1's from 2016/2017 hardwired in the cars 24/7 in a climate that is not very forgiving, it gets humid and hot in the summer and extremely damp and cold in the winter and they have gone through multiple SD cards over the years and still record amazing footage day or night at 1440p30. Paid $70 for each of them back then and I've never had to use them in an insurance claim but have been in some very close calls over the years.
Great video and so detailed. Just one question though, for the HK3 parking adapter cable that connects to your car battery, do i have to be worried that it could my battery?
EXCELLENT VIDEO WITH EXCELLENT DETAILS ; HOWEVER, I AM A SIMPLE MAN AND AC/DC, I'M OVERWHELMED AND BEGAN TO GET CONFUSED WITH ALL THE COMPARISONS. THIS IS MEANT TO BE ALL POSITIVE SO FOR ME JUST GET TO THE POINT THE V3 IS THE ONE TO BUY. PERHAPS I AM RUSHING HERE BUT DID NOT HEAR ABOUT CAPABILITY OF REAR CAMERA MOUNT. I CAN'T LISTEN TO ENTIRE VIDEO SO ANY COMMENTERS ARE WELCOME TO SCHOOL ME. SIMPLE MAN
This is a front only camera which is why you didn’t hear anything about a rear camera. If you want that, look at the A129 Duo bit.ly/2AMrmCe or A129 Pro Duo. amzn.to/2IYgK80
Excellent informative review presented impeccably. Really helpful with excellent technical content. This helped make my mind up in terms of my first Dashcam purchase. Many thanks.👌
23:59 why not discuss that stick on padding you have on the mount interface? It would be nice to know exactly what you used to eliminate the vibration noise in the audio from the mount.
Incredible presentation ..Great job - Best video! one question please, is there any rear dashcam for Viofo A119 v3 like the other models of Viofo have (e.g A 129 etc )? or i have to buy something else in order to cover the back side ?
2:30 how do you zoom in license plates? I've got bunch of footages in my computer of traffic violators but the plate thing discourages me from reporting it.
I do it manually in my video editor while making the UA-cam vid. Some software lets you pause, zoom in, and pan around the clip so you can see things better. I don't have recommendations on which software is best for that or how to do it.
Got in a wreck today no footage my last dash camera would loop over old footage when full this one hasn’t been recording for months. Screen was normal too, also showed it was recording
Wow, Great review, all important aspects covered. Best Dash Cam review I have seen. I have a couple of Questions. 1) If I already have an older dash cam. Can I use it for the Rear wind screen (Have a USB point there). I also do not want to run a cable from the back to the front. 2) If I prefer wifi transfer of files, which Dash cam do you recommend (Quality and price closer to the reviewed or cheaper) Thanks
Hello ! I just recieved this camera, with the GPS mount and the suction cup mount, but this last one cannot be fixed on the GPS mount : you can fix the one OR the other one on the camera body, not the both. I did not think about that when I bought the suction. Not important. Jacques, from France.
I was so close to purchasing this, until you said it was not wifi enabled. I want to be able to leave the card in the camera, and do all my viewing on my phone. I just subscribed, so I will keep watching to find my camera. Thanks for your reviews
Any opinion on 1080p 60fps vs 1440p 30fps? I figure with 1080p it can retain ~90% of the image fidelity but get much less blurriness, but alas I havent actually tested this myself.
I have earlier version. The sticky pads fall off the windshield when it gets warm. You really need the gps module as the camera otherwise is to close to the screen for adjustment. I ended up attaching to a small block of wood and screwing the unit to the underside of the car rear mirror.
Which version did you have specifically? I know there were some mount changes from the original design and I'm curious if they changed tape suppliers as well. I often times use my own double stick tape for mounts, but that's also partially because I regularly swap dashcams for testing and the tape usually only lasts once. :)
Support is not what you've described in 2019. It's horrible today, 2020. Simple things like changing time date settings from military time format are difficult. Also, is there an up function on menu selections instead of going through the whole menu again. Overall, your review is the best and I have not regretted buying the camera. It's just not as intuitive and hoped.
You can get it out of 24H time? How do you do that?? In the menu if I push the Mic button it goes down, pushing Rec and it goes up. Is that what you mean?
Nice review. I finally bought one as my first dashcam today. I noticed you didn't use the double-sided sticky sheets that are included. The stock photos from the Viofo website show them being used this way (between the window and the permanent sticky tape). I guess it's supposed to make it less permanent on your windshield? I wonder if anyone has used it and found that it doesn't stick as well using them. Anyway it's nice to see the FW support is still current 3 years after your review, and that the Sony Starvis is still best sensor in this price range.
Thank you for the great video review. I just purchased one after watching your video. It is very informative and helpful. I also watch your other video on the blackvue dr900s in which I also purchased for my Lexus 450 rx, and I am looking for a wifi hot spot for this vechicle. After reading numerous reviews and comparing to the one you are using, what would you think of this mobile wifi hotspot device that I see on Amazon with lots of good review, MOFI4500-4GXeLTE-SIM4-COMBO 4G/LTE Router AT&T T-Mobile Verizon Embedded SIM with Band 12 ?
Also is there a way to download the videos to my iPad Pro by removing camera from the car and plugging directly to the iPad via usb c, instead of removing the micro SD card and using USB reader?
Great work with all the videos! Would you help me to figure out why I can’t pair up my viofo 119mini with CarPlay on my 2021 Silverado using iPhone 13. I know the CarPlay needs to be disabled in wifi setting for this to work, which I did by “forget” this network. Then viofo camera will confirm successful pair up with wifi but I still can’t get my live feed on the viofo app, instead the app will send me to iPhone app to change the settings. I heard the permissions needs to be enabled in the iPhone setting but in the iPhone/viofo app setting there’s no such option I have only: language, Siri search, Network (enabled), location (always). Thanks in advance for any clues,
You are the best. Thanks for all the great content. I just got the 119. Does not say v2 or v3 Question...when I get in car it comes on I can see video...then it goes black. Is it still recording? Also....will it run until the memory is out and loop back to new trips. Kinda like out CCTV dvr.
It should say v3. In the settings, one of the last options should tell you the model and firmware version. You can also see if you have a 2560x1600 option in the resolution settings which means it’s the v3. The screen goes black as part of the configurable screen saver menu option. Check out all the settings. As for the memory card, it will loop and overwrote old footage when it gets full. Anything protected due to an impact or because you hit the manual record button, for example, goes in a separate read only folder and won’t get overwritten.
Is using two A119v3's a better option for front and rear recording if I want to use both GPS and parking mode? The A129 Pro Duo has to have the power plugged into the camera in order to use parking mode, but the GPS doesn't work. If the power is plugged into the GPS so it will work the parking mode will not work. This information came from Blackboxmycar and I do not own the A129 so I do not know from personal experience. Blackboxmycar claimed that the GPS info is not important but I beg to differ.
Can you recommend me the best 2 channel dash camera for long time parking mode. Like 24 hours of parking mode. I only drive my car for an hour a day. And rest of the times it's stay in parking. I have multiple hit and run, and I had to expense lots of money just to fix it. Can't afford anymore 😭 fixing cost. So this time I really need dash camera. Thanks.
This has to be one of the most well-made videos I've ever seen on UA-cam. Gigantic thumbs up.

I recently bought the A119 v3 and was browsing for some setup videos, I'm midway watching and don't know if there'll be something like this included, but it'd be really helpful if you could share your recommended settings for the dashcam. Again thanks for great in depth review. Very helpful so far!
Great review, I have been looking around but this is truly the best. Thanks a bunch!
As the parent of a new driver one feature I'd like to have is the ability to see, on a map, where my car has gone along with speeds. Would the GPS option handle that for me? On a side note, I really appreciate the effort you put into all of the information you put out to us. Thank you!
I didn't cover it in the video, but yeah, you can use third party software to view the GPS logs and see where people went. :)
@@VortexRadar could you recommend any 3rd party map apps for Android or Windows that would work well? Thanks!
@@andyh9420 Try this one : dashcamviewer.com/ free version is fine to watch one clip, paid for can watch multple clips auto joined
@@cbartley100 Thank you very much!
Have you looked at the Blackvue truck series dashcams like this? www.blackboxmycar.com/pages/best-dash-cams-trucks?aff=18
It comes with the dashcam
@@VortexRadar my A119v3 did not come with it
Very good review, thank you very much! Definitely will going to buy one after this video.
What does the GPS mount actually do? Allow GPS? How? Or just a better mounting option?
Got in a wreck today no footage my last dash camera would loop over old footage when full this one hasn’t been recording for months. Screen was normal too, also showed it was recording
Wow, Great review, all important aspects covered. Best Dash Cam review I have seen.
I have a couple of Questions.
1) If I already have an older dash cam. Can I use it for the Rear wind screen (Have a USB point there). I also do not want to run a cable from the back to the front.
2) If I prefer wifi transfer of files, which Dash cam do you recommend (Quality and price closer to the reviewed or cheaper)
Thanks
Really thorough review, excellent explanations, gr8 job! Thank youuuu!!
This video was very long, but I didn't even notice because it was just so chock-full of information. Very well made video. Loved it :)
What kind of recording time can I expect on a lower quality setting? Very rough idea is all I’m looking for.
A very informative and thorough review, thanks.
Excellent job / You Rock! Very Informative video.I have made my decision. Soon to be 1st time dash cam purchaser. Thank you.
Thanks vortex, very good video test 👍
Hello ! I just recieved this camera, with the GPS mount and the suction cup mount, but this last one cannot be fixed on the GPS mount : you can fix the one OR the other one on the camera body, not the both. I did not think about that when I bought the suction. Not important. Jacques, from France.
Does a dome camera see around or just focused one place.
What is wdr ..wide dynamic range of those cameras?
Thanks

@@VortexRadar Not sure, didn't realise there were different variants, had mine about two years now.
Thank You for your response. Keep up the great reviews.
Thanks in advance for any clues,
Is thinkware dashcams dont need to hardwire to increase battary life. Thsnk you.
WOW, such a good review, thank you.
Thanks for the review, very informative will buy 1 tomorrow.
Great video review. First time to your channel. Subbed. 👍
You are the best. Thanks for all the great content. I just got the 119. Does not say v2 or v3
Question...when I get in car it comes on I can see video...then it goes black.
In 2.0 firmware update, the a119 v3 cam can record in 2k at 60fps. But is the quality as good as the a129 plus which can also record at 2k 60fps?
Terrific video, thank you!
Ur review convinced me to buy 3 of these. Thanks. Question, are u using the CPL filter in this review? Just wondering.
Question: What car camera would you recommend for side recording?
Can you recommend me the best 2 channel dash camera for long time parking mode. Like 24 hours of parking mode. I only drive my car for an hour a day. And rest of the times it's stay in parking. I have multiple hit and run, and I had to expense lots of money just to fix it. Can't afford anymore 😭 fixing cost. So this time I really need dash camera. Thanks.
