I've been a professional photographer for 15 years as well as graphic artist and mechanic... lol oh and home repair/fine woodworking... (mental health issues have me seek out new things to focus my mind away from it so I learn alot lol) but yea... all of that was heavily learned on either UA-cam or just free internet resources in general. Magazines and books can help also depending on how you learn easier. I always tell people the internet is an amazing place to learn anything and everything. You just have to actually use it lol
People just do not realize until they have watched you what goes into creating the miraculous eyes that we have. To watch you add the different layers including the many times you go over the eye lashes is truly amazing to capture that very real look. You have done a perfect job! Thank you once again!
Wow! This is one of the best ever tutorials on graphite drawing of an eye! I learned so much. I wasn't layering before but now I understand the importance of doing this. I shall save it and review it again before I start sketching another eye on a portraits Thanks!
Kyle the potato You still need talent. Someone with no eye hand coordination can practice all they want and will never be quite this good. What's the saying? 5% inspiration 95% perspiration?😃 Either way he meant to pay her a compliment and she took it as one😉
To the creator of this video, thanks for bringing hope to a beginner who always thought he would never be able to do this. This is the best tutorial ever. You gained a new sub Thanks
Drawing isn't hard, it just requires a little technique. Most of the things that block you from drawing well, are in your head rather than in your hands. This is a great video for showing technique such as keeping your drawing clean using tracing paper, working from white to dark in layers, using tortillions or blending sticks to smooth out strokes and blend shades, and working with small adjustments. Make something too dark, or too white, its easy to fix by blending around it so it matches. The hard part is that initial sketch where you map out where to put what, and where you are going to make dark parts, and where you are going to make highlights. A very good book to help you figure out how to un-twist your mind so you can draw what you see is "Drawing on the right side of the brain" by Betty Edwards. She teaches you how to deal with the cognitive dissonance as your right and left hemispheres battle to see shades with no meaning, and labels and meaning with no shades.
My brain : let's draw a circle My heart :ok let's draw My heart : beating so fast My hand : draw a egg My brain : What the hell!? . . . . . Thanks you for too many likesss
Hi guys, I get many questions about the materials. Under every video I have a list of all of the materials in the description box. The white 'smudger' is a blending stump it's for blending graphite to create a smooth effect. If you don't have one you can use a q-tip or maybe a small make-up applicator. For the bigger areas I use a soft tissue. The pencil eraser is from Faber-Castell perfection 7056, if you don't have one you can cut off a small piece of your eraser and use the sharp edges or corner to erase fine details. For the brightest highlights I use a white Uni Posca, this is an acrylic marker with a 0.7mm tip. If you don't have one you could use a white gel pen or some acrylic paint with a small brush. I hope this helps! Thanks for watching :)
I just drew this and it turned out amazing, i struggled though with the parts you use the pencil eraser though. so I used the side of a normal eraser. great tutorial, keep up the good work, and continue making these wonderfull videos, - myles

It's so fascinating to see how one minute the eye looks fairly flat, then with layering I can actually see how bright and shiny the iris is! It's like I'm looking directly into her face. Can't wait to try this one myself. :)
wow you are really talented and I'm writing a book of make up and i would love to use a eye open with double lid to use to teach how to make up the eyes. You are simply amazing
