1 What is the aim of the practice? 2 Teacher's or student's role? 3 How are Student''s reactions? 4 What can we learn from this as a teacher candidate? I know a bit but i wanna hear some of you guys
1. The aim of the practice is to keep student's hooked onto the lesson, to make it a more memorable experience for students to look forward to. When students are motivated in learning in play/theatrics/musical it truly becomes a learning experience for all students and embraces all students that are dominant in different learning styles. 2. This is a cooperative environment that includes both the teacher and the students. While play is in action and is actively teaching students on a subject (seeing as active play can be applied to all kinds of content area) teachers are able to evaluate themselves on the effectiveness of the lesson and whether to apply it for the next lessons or to make appropriate adjustments for the future classes to come. 3. Students love the fact that they are able to move freely and manage around the class as they are also interacting with other students. You loose student's interest when you continuously apply pencil and paper and nothing more. This also enables developing fine motor skills and encourages creative thinking which is a lost art in the Education world. 4. As a teacher candidate (fixing to graduate in a year), we can learn not only from other teachers but from our students as well. For the same reason that creativity has been a lost art for many years, it has become a challenging task for many current and future teachers as we have brought the concept of pure standardized testing. Standardized testing has completely eliminated the concept of creativity and the Education world has forgotten the importance of critical thinking. We have created an environment of dependency and rule following robots which I find disgraceful and absolutely saddening that the concept of critical thinking and creativity is no longer a priority or at the top of the list in the classroom.
