- Native Instruments Maschine MK3 | Using Shift & Secondary Functions.
In this video you will see how using shift and the secondary functions on the 16 pads and streamline your workflow, speed up your recording and get you used to using the MK3 as a standalone piece of kit and keep away from the mouse as much as possible.
Happy creating :-)

very very very useful and nice and easy explanation ... i am sure every maschine owner should know everything that what maschine can do as you said instead of using the PC
Thank you so much for your time putting these videos together. I just got a MK3 and your guides are ESSENTIAL! Thank you again!
Thanks for taking the time to write such a lovely comment. I’m glad they are helping. Thank you and happy NYE
I too am a fan of your videos DAVE Digital and Vinyl Expert. You do a great job and you’re easy to listen to. Thank you my brother.
Thanks 830 that’s lovely to hear. Means a lot 😊
Thanks so much for these videos! Making this equipment a lot more enjoyable to use when I actually know how to recreate the musical ideas I'm having!
You are more than welcome Eli. Glad they are useful and more to come.
Great tutorial. For a few hours I have selected all events and clear it with mouse and keyboard. Now with the clear function its much more easier. Thanks a lot!
Great Martin really glad you enjoy them and have found them useful 😊
Dave- I just got the MK3 last weekend. Just got into making music using machines. I love your channel. It has been extremely helpful. I love how you are doing things step by step for absolute beginners. I had no idea about the "patterns" until your vid. It has made things so much better for me. I'm looking forward to the sampling / chopping, etc. When you do cover that, please include how to take itunes music and import into Maschine. Again, you are doing great things. Thank you so much.
+Brian hi Brian thanks for the kind words and glad this is helping you. I’ll be covering all the buttons and functions first so will be a few weeks yet but if you have subscribed then you’ll get to see it. If there are any questions then feel free to shoot them over.
Just subscribed! Great tutorials for Maschine MK3 users like myself! Thank you!!
Thanks for subscribing and glad they are useful. There will be more coming soon.
Thanks for doing these!

Thank you so much, you really helped me out! 😊

Hi Dave. My quantize command does not seem to work. I have it on to quantize during play and record but is there sometime I'm doing wrong as I only have the mk3 less than a week and I don't know if there is a set up to be done for it to work. Thanks.
Hi Brian
Please can you send me an email to dave@digitalandvinylexpert.com with screenshots and what you want and hopefully I can help ☺️
@@DAVEDigitalandVinylExpert I have sent a screen shot to you dave on your email. Let me know if you have any ideas when you get a chance to look at it. Thanks. 👍
Thanks Brian
I’ll get back asap
Hi Dave, is there a part 5 allready? Only find 4 now thanks!
Hi Jens, thanks for the comment. Part 5 is in process and should be with you in the next few days 🤞🏼
Hi Dave! Great tutorial. Haven't bought a maschine yet but I think I need one. When you did the quantization of the tambourine I think you wanted a triplet feel but the outcome became strait 16th-notes. Is there a way of decide which feel you want for the rytm when you quantisize?
Hi Fredrik, thanks for the comment and glad to like the tutorials. Everyone needs a mk3 in their lives lol.
I always want triplets and yes there is a way. I’ll be doing some quick tips soon so thanks for the question.
Hi Fredrik, as promised. At the end is how to change grids. Basic Maschine mk3 skills | part 6 | D.A.V.E.ua-cam.com/video/IaP4pa9PCaA/v-deo.html
Bro!
Help me out.. I've been watching your videos on the mk3 and how everything works. I made a track.. it's okay for a 1st beat. But I came across a problem. Now all my sounds has a static, a fuzzing sound to them.. what did I do wrong? Is tgere anyway I can reset the MK3 back to its factory settings? Help!
Hey. Fee free to send me a video demoing it to dave@digitalandvinylexpert.com and I’ll see if I can help
Hi Dave love everything you're doing on the Maschine MK3, quick question, I can't seem to prehear my instruments..can you help? cheers Ray
Thanks Ray much appreciated. I have the same issue and trying to sort it out lol. I'll let you know.
Great tutorials, quick question, when working in scenes, you click on it to see the pattern in the DAW, can you highlight multiple patterns to see all the patterns in the DAW? thx :)
Hi Ray thanks for the kind words and your question. As far as I am aware unfortunately not. I’ve tried everything I can think of and I don’t think it’s made like that, but if I find anything I’ll let you know and vice verse. Thanks
Is there a way to select more than 1 note at a time? I'm new to Maschine and finding your vids very helpful so a big thumbs up from me.
Thanks for the kind message. Are you talking about having the same instrument on 2 different pads?
Sorry, I didn't explain the question very well. What I should have asked is when you select a note in the piano roll to move, copy, etc you only selected 1 midi note. I wanted to know if its possible to select more than 1 at a time if you wanted to move or copy and paste a phrase from 1 bar to another?
ahhhhhh I see. Not as far as I am aware but i will look into it and let you know.
TheMojophotos Yes, you can select multiple notes in the piano roll, copy, then place the Maschine cursor where you want the copied part to begin, then paste.
Hi dave great channel and and a great help you've been, once I have made a track and I'm happy with it, how do i then record it into a mp3? GP
+GilB ProjeKT hi GP thanks for the support and glad you are getting use out of them. All you have to do is select file then export, have the range as all and source as master output, name it and voila. Hope this helps :-)
DAVE Digital and Vinyl Expert arr cheers pal I will try that later on today. GP
+GilB ProjeKT more than welcome. Have a good day.
thx this helps so much.
Glad it helps Peter 😁
Sorry I cannot follow. Shift key not working at all. What is your setup before you start please? This is so frustrating!
I cant get the display screens show the software it just shows machine
Can anyone point me in the direction of linking a MK3 and a Komplete S49Mk2..Can't seem to get any sense out of NI and can't find a video on UA-cam.Cheers Ray :)
Hi Ray, when you say syncing how do you mean? I know what syncing is but they should be automatically. 🤔
Hi Dave, this is quite long winded! Logic, Maschine 2 and Komplete Kontrol open. All on a Mac,When recording in Logic everything is fine apart from when I record say a drum pattern on Mascine it records into Maschine and is showing its recording in Logic but there is no midi as everything is on Maschine. So if I turn the Mk3 off the midi is lost!! Any ideas as i'm an idiot! Ray :)
You’re not an idiot at all! What sound card are you using for logic. Do you know what would be easier. Email me at dave@digitalandvinylexpert.com I’ll try and help.
Are you using an audio interface? and if so what kind would you recommend? I just got my MK3 yesterday and your videos really helped me get going. I appreciate it!
Hi Rey, really glad you’re finding the videos useful and exciting that you now have a mk3. I am using an audio interface purely because I record my voice into a DAW for better quality and record live instruments. You actually have a sound card built in to the mk3 so can run directly from that into your speakers. However if you did want a separate interface, make sure you check compatibility as the new Apple Mac OS stopped me using my nice interface. I personally now have a focusrite Saffire Pro. Really like the quality. There are loads of different ones out there though. All depends on your budget and how many ins and out you need.
If you need more advice then feel free to email me at dave@digitalandvinylexpert.com
DAVE Digital and Vinyl Expert I appreciate your quick response. I saw it does have a built in one but was wondering if the latency reduction could be better with an external audio interface ?
Well as there are less leads and connections, I would say the latency would be better from the MK3 in my opinionn
Hey Dave, can you do a video on how to load Independent Sound kits into MK3
Hello again. I will add it to my list. Did you have any specific sound kits in mind? Feel free to send us a link.
DAVE Digital and Vinyl Expert Thanks Dave! Yea, the Aquatic Soul sound kit. maschinemasters.com/product/aquatic-soul-sound-collection/
Hey Regal, I haven't forgotten about you, I am just in talks with Maschine Masters at the moment to sort your video out :) Happy new year!
DAVE Digital and Vinyl Expert I appreciate that Dave. So far I have managed to get the sample loaded, and slice it. However, I cant figure out how to make my own track with what i had sliced. I wanted to apply everything u did in videos 2, 3 and 4 but just couldn't figure out how to start sequencing. Thanks again tho!!! I'll be on the lookout!
No worries. Glad the videos are helping. If you do need any 1-2-1 help I do offer lessons. If you go to www.digitalandvinylexpert.com
Thanks!
thank you so much for doing this!! NI customer support is effin useless!!
Thanks for the comment Richard and glad they are helpful 😊
i didnt know thats what step undo did
The important thing is no place for maschine cause notebook is in front of me.
Hi Jeremy thanks for your comment. I am not quite sure what you mean. Could you elaborate please?
