Thank you for the video showing the entire process of sketching and completing it. I learned a lot!!. QUESTION : 1) How do you get the exact proportions of the object w/o using any guidelines?. just the rough ballpark figures you feel?. I mean,, the exact location & size of the eyes, nose, lips ... width & height .... How?. 2) How often do you sharpen the pencil, and how many ??. not using auto-sharpening device??. How do you sharpen it that long & sharp not breaking it?. // Thank you.
Hello, first of all, thank you. Now to your questions: 1. These proportions are not 100% accurate. In this case - the tip of the nose is a little bit off even the eye and brow line should be better (go ahead and compare it :)). My secret is to draw one version for me, and a second or third version for UA-cam - you'll get it to hand on the next attempt. The next tip is to constantly check reference images from a distance. The video is a few times quicker than in real-time, so maybe it comes easy to you, but it is much slower in real. And last but not least 20 years of experience. 2. And here is my video how to sharpen a pecil: ua-cam.com/video/XqKSb-FJzUQ/v-deo.html Have great day, and don't stop drawing, patience is the key, you are improving with every single drawing.
@@petermahoney89 Wow,,, Thank you so much for the minute and prompt answer!!. Yeah, above anything,, I think the 20yrs. of experience is what makes these~ possible. And that is a good point I shouldn't overlook,, --- draw the object repeatedly until it comes to my hand. I really appreciate your kind help. ^^/
Another great tutorial, Peter! By the way, what's your favorite stage in the drawing process? I'm torn between initial shading and the fleshing out phase!
Thank you! I love the initial shading, the process where the image takes real contour, it's quick and sketchy. Most of my drawings end at this stage, I don't finish everything.
What is the best way to attach the paper? Should it be in an upright position or should it lie on the table? And how is better to draw standing or sitting?
Thanks for the question. For holding the paper on the board I use plastic clamps... And about position, it depends mostly on what you're drawing, if you're just doodling of course you can draw straight on the table, but if you want to do something serious, portrait for instance, it's definitely better to have paper vertically - observation is better, linework is better, there's much more accuracy. And standing or sitting, I honestly don't know, I think it depends on how big the format is that you're drawing on...
Thank you! I've been drawing since childhood, I learned a lot on my own, but I can say that I improved at university. But I think that practice and self-education is the key...
It's really amazing, but I have aquestion: is it necessary to place the paper on a vertical surface while drawing or can it be placed flat on the table? will the results be different depending on whether I'm placing the paper on an easel or flat on the table?
Great question! While you can absolutely draw on a flat surface, using a vertical easel can help with perspective and ease of movement. Experimenting with both methods will give you a feel for what works best for your style! The general rule is that you can draw small drawings horizontally, while larger drawings are better drawn in a vertical position. Happy drawing, and the best results!
The simplest way to learn drawing heads is to start with planar plaster heads. This will teach you how to set shading values in the simplest form. I would also like to make a tutorial for that in the future. Type to Google planar plaster cast and you'll find many references to draw... Stick to the basics and keep improving!
I was just wondering how i should learn to draw like this and what to buy as a begginer who has never really drawn or tried to in his life. Where to start?
I have already started making videos for beginners on the basics of shading, and I will add more. Stay tuned! But if you want to start now, I recommend beginning with drawing and shading basic shapes. Certainly, you can start with this: ua-cam.com/video/upssFiMz6Z4/v-deo.html
Thank you for your opinion. While some techniques in a drawing may seem common to you, to others they may be unknown and hidden till now. This video aims to shed light on the techniques, that provide you similar results as in the thumbnail...
Amazing! Thank you for sharing.🙏💓
