This was one of my daughter's favorite movies as a child. She took her life at age 26. She saw the beauty in what life should have been as a child. She paid it forward every chance she had. She realized as an adult life doesn't always work that way.
Sorry for your loss. We all have so many hopes and dreams growing up and life can be so overwhelming and disappointing we just don’t know how to deal with it sometimes. May your daughters soul rest in peace.

"Pay It Forward" showed that one person, no matter how old or young, big or small, can make a HUGE difference for a better world. At the age of 12, Trevor became a martyr for something far bigger than himself and those around him. If only the real world did as he did, the terrible things that we experience now: the corruption, the terrorism, the war, the intolerance, and every other evil could at least be controlled. If humans do good things, big or small, for other humans, we can learn to tolerate their differences and faults, accepting that no human is perfect. It's just like what Professor Charles Xavier said in "X-Men: Days of Future Past:" "Just because someone stumbles, loses their way, it doesn't mean they're lost forever. Sometimes we all need a little help... It's the greatest gift we have to bear their pain without breaking. And it's born from the most human power, hope." Working together, humans can do more than they ever dreamed possible.
It was very foolish and obvious something bad was gonna happen. He should've got help first. Never interject yourself in an unsafe situation unless it is actually safe to do so. In fact, if it's not your job, you can't be held liable if you do nothing anyway. Especially in an unsafe scenario.
@@RYMAN1321 he acted instinctively he didn't have time to think like when people run into a burning building to save a child. He could have stood by like earlier in the movie and his friend would likely have been stabbed himself then Kevin would have his death on his conscience for the rest of his life and might well have been called into court to testify as an eye witness to murder.

I always get choked-up when I see this scene, no matter how many times I see it. I think the emotion on Helen Hunt's face brings out the sentimental aspect of it so much more. Not just the heartwrenching loss, but at the same time the gratitude towards those who came in honor of Trevor.
+Jose Chavez I know. Hundreds of people's lives were touched by him given how many people showed up in this scene and were still coming at the end. According to Wikipedia even the bullies that killed him were there which bothers me a bit. Not that they'd pay their respects, its the LEAST they could do but that they apparently didn't get in trouble for his death.
+Jose Chavez I found this video by accident. I haven't seen the movie in years but what brought me to the song was Charmed. Another heart-wrenching scene. This cop sacrificed himself to save the woman he loved even knowing he was going to die doing it and the song played during his funeral scene. They played some good music during the first season of that show: during another funeral they used Sand and Water and I really loved that song as a result.
This was the song that played at my daughters funeral when we carried her coffin out. She was diagnosed with a brain tumour at age 8, and 8 months later, she was gone. When choosing the songs for the funeral, something told me to pick this song. Then just the day before the funeral, I remembered this scene and how moving it was. My daughters funeral was attended by 400 people; family, friends and community members. We had candles for all the kids to hold. It's amazing how a scene from a movie I had seen twenty years before would resonate with me so deeply. Watching this reminds me of my Lucy, and I know she's flying high above with her angel wings. I've been so moved by the outpouring of love and support, but I would give anything to have my little girl back.
This I can honestly say with hand on my heart, is the most emotional part of any movie I have ever seen in my life. There has not been a time that I havent had tears rolling down my cheeks & goosebumps from start to finish. I love how Miss Catherine Ryan Hyde wrote a book of fiction that was turned into one of the most beautiful heart wrenching movies that I'm not ashamed to say makes me cry every time I watch it, but I really love how this book/movies has become a real life movement all around the world. The truly sad part is while this movement is so inspirational it will not obliterate all the EVIL that the world faces. P.S. the director of this movie could not of found another song more beautiful for the closing scene of the movie.
This was one of them movies where I didn't see the ending coming god I was in tears when this happened and I never cry at movies but this one after what this kid had done and how many lives he had changed and he fucking dies

This scene really effected me for some reason. I wasnt a huge fan of the movie but this scene in particular made me feel an extreme sense of nostalgia and heartache at the same time. Not that type of romantic heartache but more of that feeling when you lose someone close to you.

I pay it forward, and always be kind like Trevor , no matter how many bullies I have against me ! I am someone , and all I need is one person to listen 👂! And look 👀 Trevor you touched everyone all over 😢 I cry everytime I see this part . Now I have kids ! I will watch this movie with them once they become a teenager ❤❤ 2 more years
This scene never fails to bring tears to the eyes. The song is very moving and I am not ashamed to admit this Vietnam veteran has watery eyes as this scene plays out. A lesson can be learned from what the character in the film played. An act of kindness to one can effect a lot of others down the line. So when you see someone in need or is in dire straits, stop to lend a hand whenever you can.
But you don’t endanger your well being when you have no legal obligation to do so. You can’t be held liable anyway. When you see a violent confrontation taking place, NEVER ever put your own safety in jeopardy. Always call for help. It’s no different than trying to save someone drowning in deep water. You then risk yourself being pulled under in their panic. Call for help as well.
@@RYMAN1321 That all depends on the circumstances. For those of us who've served, it comes instinctively, you don't give it a second thought. But again, if running, hiding, or looking the other way never solves anything. Sometimes one has to stand up for what is right. Plus, if you just think that calling for help will solve the issue at hand, that's the same as not doing anything at all for it takes time for help to arrive and by that time, the worst could happen. Again it depends on the circumstances. But again, I think you fail to see the point of the movie.
I remember watching this movie in a theater on a biz trip that got me overnight in southern Rhode Island. Me, at that time a 350 lbs male at 6’7”, went afterwards to grab a coffee. I could not get a word out when it was my time to order. It still touches deep when I am watching this now.
So sad, some girls and I were in tears when we saw this in my theology class, but it was nice to see everyone come to show their support in the end. It was a happy/sad ending to me.
Start this day knowing that you are not alone, especially during the difficult times we may be going through. Our Guardian Angels are watching over us.
Came here to try to stop sinning... Even as grown man, listening to heavy metal, acting sorta like I got no soul, this movie still makes fresh cut onions squeeze through my eyes into my gut 😞 Feeling guilty not paying it forward..
This song really punctuated the moment, it was a tear-jerker, and anyone that didn't find it that way is missing an important component of living because sadness must come at some point so that we may know joy when it visits on us. They go together. Ephesians 3:19
Living right here in Vegas. It has been years since I've seen this movie. Now, as a teacher, I am using this clip today in my class to introduce The Ripple Effect. I'm crying already.
The strongest part for me is when the overhead shows all the cars on their way still. The scene leading up already had my eyes glassy, that wide view. So perfect…..
This is his legacy. In his short time he achieved so much. Touched so many lives. He will never truly be forgotten. And his belief will, hopefully, carry on to help more lives.
One of the most glorious concepts portrayed by an elementary school teacher, who was deeply scarred from burns of a fire. He made a huge contribution to his class but especially to one boy who had been DEEPLY HURT and made it his goal to share it with many other. If you have not viewed this in its entirety, I would suggest that you buy it, making it part of your library and view it frequently. It has a message for you as it has for me.
I watched this after I graduated high school in 2000 I cried because it reminded me one of my best friends who passed away on July 9,2000 and I graduated high school June 2, 2000
I vividly remember watching this at summer camp. At the time, I was within a group of counselors in training. This was such a powerful moment and truly changed how I approached my relationships, both professionally and personally. “Paying It Forward” is a truly simple thing everyone can do. It’s things like this that make the world a better place. Sending love to you and everyone that needs it, we are here for each other.
My class watched it in high school to teach us about bullying but I already saw it way before that and everytime I see the ending I get goosebumps we all can make a difference in this world and Trevor started that process for everyone to make a difference we can all learn from this movie
I can't wait to see heaven a place where dreams come true. Eye has not seen, ear has not heard, neither has it entered into your heart what heaven has in store for people who love.
Trevor was literally sooooo sweet and didn't deserved to die. This movie inspired me to do good in the world and I just watched this movie in school just before we finished it. If someone does you a favour you don't pay it back...you pay it forward. :)
This is such a beautiful movie. I can't watch it without crying. The world is broken, mankind is destroying themselves through hate and violence. The world needs more love, kindness, understanding and empathy.
Jesus paid it forward and more on the Cross , John, 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. This real not a movie .
My dad always enjoyed showing me new movies by having family movie nights, when I was growing up. When we sat down as a family to watch this one soon after it came out I didn't think much of it. Wow was I in for a suprise.. I haven't been moved like that from a movie ever again. Not even Shawshank redemption.
Pay it forward is great, but a lot of people pay it forward on video, maybe with their business in plane view, that's not paying it forward, that's trying to advertise your business, or if they are well known doing it on video to show the world how good they are. That's an investment in something, not paying it forward. If you really want to pay it forward, don't tell anyone, do it because it's right not because you want to show the world.
I came here after I saw a UA-cam video featuring movies that make men cry. This one should have been the #1 example. When I saw it in the theatre, I bawled my eyes out - it was not just a tear or two shed, it was full waterworks. It is still my favorite movie of all time.
I have been doing the pay it forward movement for 12 years. I hope I'm making a difference too. God bless all of the cast and crew. Chris Canfield, Captain Howdy, Pay it forward.
Very powerful. My most loved movie I have watched dozens of times. Bless you Trevor. If only all humans were like you. There is too much unkindness in this cruel world. 2020 has been one of the worst years of my 63 years. I am constantly paying it forward, but my family never notice. They believe I am not worthy of being loved. 😢
You are truly loved. The word love is tossed around so easily, as much as hate it seems. Few know what spiritual love is and are not capable of giving it. Just know that He keeps a full account of all our actions, especially how we treat each other. Keep sharing. You are doing the right thing.
@@sacredcowmusicjukebox Thank you. But you haven't walked a mile in my shoes over the past 63 years. My true family is and has always been my dogs. They have kept me living , unlike so called family members. God bless you x
I'm just going to put it out there, if you cried, why are you ashamed? And If you didn't, well then you are a monster. I remember watching this when I was around six(About 5 years ago) And I cried even then. Things really do get to you, so cry, cry all you want, and feel good about it! It means you have empathy. And bring the title to honor, pay it forward, even to those you hate. if the bully is nice, pay it forward. This makes me realize how thankful I should be to live life today, and every day. You only get one shot at life, and Trevor didn't waste it, he saved someone else's. Think now about who has been nice too you, and "Pay it Forward."
Pretty sure this is when all my emotional damage poured out, after years of repression and foster care conditioning... this movie broke my heart for the first time in my life, and when my heart broke, it was as if a dam had just collapsed after holding back so much pressure
Tabitha Di Diego This movie is based on the facts of real life. The ones with the biggest heart are the ones who die young. Rather it's family or other people on the outside. It sucks
I just realized that the two bullies were there paying their respects. But he never deserved to die. It's crazy how he lost his life, trying to save someone else's
This movie was a very touching moment for all of what came with the 90's among children and pre adults among the ways of the world who give their whole hearts for the their own and all love and tears and undetstandment that they have for others, even among the heavens. With love to all with so many hearts and tears with no understanding when they don't through the tears of their own.. With kindness, From your heart to mine
Oh my god. I don't know how old this movie is but I just watched it last night. It has the saddest ending I have ever seen. I havn't cried in 19 years but this brought me to tears.

To this day ! I pay it forward, and always be kind like Trevor , no matter how many bullies I have against me !
I am someone , and all I need is one person to listen 👂!
And look 👀 Trevor you touched everyone all over 😢 I cry everytime I see this part .
Now I have kids !
I will watch this movie with them once they become a teenager ❤❤

All these years later and people are still paying it forward all because of this wonderful movie
I hate this movie with a passion lol I cry every single time including the ending scene with the song calling all angels. It's so beautiful.
Morgan4746 There are some sad parts to it, but it is an amazing movie. It's one of my favorites
Same lol I haven’t seen this movie in years and I mean to keep it that way
amazing movie with a amazing message
I remember watching this movie in a theater on a biz trip that got me overnight in southern Rhode Island.
Me, at that time a 350 lbs male at 6’7”, went afterwards to grab a coffee.
I could not get a word out when it was my time to order.
It still touches deep when I am watching this now.
I am currently in RI crying over this video. Maybe it’s a RI thing. 😊
So sad, some girls and I were in tears when we saw this in my theology class, but it was nice to see everyone come to show their support in the end. It was a happy/sad ending to me.
Absolutely beautiful in every way! I want this song played when I leave this planet! ❤️❤️
Start this day knowing that you are not alone, especially during the difficult times we may be going through. Our Guardian Angels are watching over us.
It touches your soul and makes you feel there is a light in your darkest hours - Amen.
This bit made me cry and I'm 13 and I'm middle school😭😂 We watched this today in english😭
Kaci Louise I'm 17. We're watching this in English. Second time seeing Trevor die and it's still not sad
Michael Budden no I'm just not saddened when someone who I know is just a character and I don't actually know dies in a movie
Michael Budden same thing with games it's not real
Kaci Louise I will give you a 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Kaci Louise omg same there were 4 girls (counting me with) that cried. 😭😢😢😢😢
Just brilliant….I wish humanity would just Pay it Forward!
Came here to try to stop sinning... Even as grown man, listening to heavy metal, acting sorta like I got no soul, this movie still makes fresh cut onions squeeze through my eyes into my gut 😞 Feeling guilty not paying it forward..
Probably the most powerful ending of any movie, period! We own the video and watch it at least every 6 months or so.
I cried so hard in the end and when he got stabbed 😭😭😭
Literally I just finished watching this today in school and oh my god I cried and then I made my teacher cry, actually everyone cried
Unfortunately we know the right values only when they are gone..... so sad...
This is one of my all time favorite movies. Taught me something I still do today and always will. About to bawl haven’t heard song in ages
This is one of my all time favorite movies. I've seen it 100 times, ans cry every time!
This is so sad, every time I watch this I bawl like a baby. But I learned a lesson from this movie to always pay it forward, no matter what.
The strongest part for me is when the overhead shows all the cars on their way still. The scene leading up already had my eyes glassy, that wide view. So perfect…..
I was just about to post the same thing! The stream of headlights approaching gets me every time. Magical.
This is his legacy. In his short time he achieved so much. Touched so many lives. He will never truly be forgotten. And his belief will, hopefully, carry on to help more lives.
Absolutely superb 📽️
2:00 at this moment, the audience in the cinema I was watching this went into spontaneous applause. Very rare in my country.
Sometimes it takes a child to show us the way.
I watched this after I graduated high school in 2000 I cried because it reminded me one of my best friends who passed away on July 9,2000 and I graduated high school June 2, 2000
A simple yet amazing concept, how great would this world be if we all adopted it
I vividly remember watching this at summer camp.
No matter how many times I watch this movie or listen to this song. It brings tears to my eyes.
I love that song, and I'm crying and crying everytime I see the end of "Pay it Forward" and I hear this beautiful song 😭😢☺❤
BACK AGAIN IN 2022 MY SON IS 5 SOON AND I KEEP WATCHING THIS MOVIE AND CRY EVERYTIME THANKYOU FOR MAKING THIS MOVIE ....
This has always been one of my favorite movies
Do you need to cry a little bit but you can't? Watch this final scene and cry like a baby...
And just when I thought the ending of Braveheart was sad, this had me crying so hard, I gave my mom and dad a hug when the movie was over.
Me toooo
My class watched it in high school to teach us about bullying but I already saw it way before that and everytime I see the ending I get goosebumps we all can make a difference in this world and Trevor started that process for everyone to make a difference we can all learn from this movie
I can't wait to see heaven a place where dreams come true. Eye has not seen, ear has not heard, neither has it entered into your heart what heaven has in store for people who love.
Joel Osment's leading film roles are the definitive examples of strong child actor performances.
This real not a movie .
you know you have empathy if you cry every time you watch something like this
My dad always enjoyed showing me new movies by having family movie nights, when I was growing up. When we sat down as a family to watch this one soon after it came out I didn't think much of it. Wow was I in for a suprise.. I haven't been moved like that from a movie ever again. Not even Shawshank redemption.
I /sobbed/ over this ending. I had no idea what was going to happen and it was literary anything but that... I couldn't believe it, broke my heart.
No. NO. NOT CRYING. FUCK YOU TEARS I AM NOT CRYING
-- 2 minutes later --
Dang.. sniff.
What's don't feel anything clearly you don't understand what life is
I love helen hunt in this movie ! :)
her acting was superb, especially in this ending scene
It is 2019 and I still cry rivers
Pay it forward is great, but a lot of people pay it forward on video, maybe with their business in plane view, that's not paying it forward, that's trying to advertise your business, or if they are well known doing it on video to show the world how good they are. That's an investment in something, not paying it forward. If you really want to pay it forward, don't tell anyone, do it because it's right not because you want to show the world.
This was my mates favourite movie he died of cancer last year 😢
Sorry for your loss. 🙏
I came here after I saw a UA-cam video featuring movies that make men cry. This one should have been the #1 example. When I saw it in the theatre, I bawled my eyes out - it was not just a tear or two shed, it was full waterworks.
It is still my favorite movie of all time.
Just got my first cry in for the day. A beautiful movie with such a sad ending.
I have been doing the pay it forward movement for 12 years. I hope I'm making a difference too. God bless all of the cast and crew. Chris Canfield, Captain Howdy, Pay it forward.
And think that this film was based in real facts. Rest in peace trevor
Heart wrenching what a fabulous young guy.
Absolute sweetheart and beautiful song
Anyone who has seen this film and doesn't shed a tear at the end, has no heart or soul and in my opinion doesn't deserve to be part of the human race!
Have seen this a few times now one of the most memorable movies ever & definitely one of the most heartwrenching endings of all time for me
I'm just going to put it out there, if you cried, why are you ashamed? And If you didn't, well then you are a monster. I remember watching this when I was around six(About 5 years ago) And I cried even then. Things really do get to you, so cry, cry all you want, and feel good about it! It means you have empathy. And bring the title to honor, pay it forward, even to those you hate. if the bully is nice, pay it forward. This makes me realize how thankful I should be to live life today, and every day. You only get one shot at life, and Trevor didn't waste it, he saved someone else's. Think now about who has been nice too you, and "Pay it Forward."
MY fave movie of all times -the way humans should be
Best scene in the whole move, and it never fails to bring on the tears.
Pretty sure this is when all my emotional damage poured out, after years of repression and foster care conditioning... this movie broke my heart for the first time in my life, and when my heart broke, it was as if a dam had just collapsed after holding back so much pressure
This song is underrated.
This was a powerful movie definitely my top 3
If you don't cry at the end of this movie, you have no soul.
I had to watch this in school today and I really did not expect this ending. But still it's really sad that Trevor died.
Tabitha Di Diego This movie is based on the facts of real life. The ones with the biggest heart are the ones who die young. Rather it's family or other people on the outside. It sucks
i was shocked like there was no way this kid suddenly got stabbed and died
a great message.
Not want to be seen by others, but to be felt by others. do not expect a reply to its own, give the needy.
Understand this.
Tragic ending to a great movie. Very sad.
What a WONDERFUL WORLD this would be if we all PAY IT FORWARD. (Just by helping someone who is in need of a HELPING HAND)
I just realized that the two bullies were there paying their respects. But he never deserved to die. It's crazy how he lost his life, trying to save someone else's
Quite the y2k movie. It was so powerful. I remember watching my dad trying not to cry. My eyes were waterfalls that night I first saw it.
