  • I recently bought a new manual lens from TTartisan, the newly released 23mm f1.4, took it out with my Fujifilm X-T4 #fujixt4 for a walk around. I also have the 7artisans 25mm f1.8, so I put it on my #fujixt3 and made a little comparison for you guys, enjoy the video.
    The video was shot in DCI 4k 60fps on the #fujixt4 with the classic chrome film simulation, all photos were shot with the #fujixt4 with the classic chrome film simulation.

    I'm mixed. Some shots I preferred the 25mm on others the 23mm. My eye does prefer a more shadowy image and some of the 23mm shots seemed too bright for me. But, it had good sharpness. However, for the price, you really can't complain about either lens.

    Thanks for the video. It helped me make a decision. My 23mm arrived today. I tend to prefer low contrast and a warmer tone so the pick was a no brainier..

    They are both great, but the 7Artisans images seem a bit more crispy with sharpness and contrast. TTArtisan has slightly better colors though. In the end I ordered the 25mm because its cheaper, lol.

    i liked the contrast and colors of the 7artisans better. but somehow it had almost never any data in the sky. washed out and no color. the sky always looked better on the ttartisan. i would have thought that they are from different sensors. amazing how just the lens can change the apparent dynamic range.

    Hi, did you use the 23mm 1.4 for video? How is this lens, does it have focus breathing issues?

    I am really upset how you people all judge which one is better based on the images from this video as they are so pure... I know UA-cam compress the quality a lot but on the other hand on some videos one can clearly see if there is any difference. The images are so much crisper... In a case like this without the clarification by the youtuber himself it is pretty impossible to say anything and all our commenting here is totally pointless... Correct me if I am wrong please...

    For me it is a no brainer. The shadows and the highlights on the 7artisans are just horrible. The sky is always blown out and the shadows don't retain a lot of details. The ttartisan is definitely the winner for me.

    I own the 7 artisans and really like the tonal balance and contrast of the image. And the focal length and minimum focus distance are just right for my street + portrait photo.
    After getting use to the manual focusing, I am so pleased with what I got that I don't want to go back to the XF auto lens even I have to sacrifice the image sharpness. ( which 7Artisans is not bad at all by itself)
    NOW come the question, what should I buy for the upgrade from this lovely little one??
    by keeping the same film like contrast, but improving the image quality ??
    I have compare with reviews and sample photo from TT artisan and decide it is not much an upgrade for me.
    Not saying it is worse than 7Artisans, just saying it has different contrast so the character.
    What is you guys' opinion?? thanks in advance.
    I try to do the manual focus on XF27, and it is totally a mess. The lens is not decided for manual focus. The focus ring is not directly and linearly response to my adjusting, it is way like an electronic feedback to the motor.

    • @kenyudoit
      @kenyudoit  10 місяців тому +1

      I totally agree with you, once you get used to manual focusing, it is really hard to go back to the XF lens, it seems less fun to me. For the upgrade... I think for budget lenses around the $100 usd, there won't be a huge difference in image quality, they might have different colour and contrast but you pretty much get what you paid for. the reason I keep going back to my 7artisans is the size and weight for the lens, the ttartisan is double the weight and you can definitely feel it on a small body. So for a true upgrade I guess the m mount voigtlander lenses might be the sweet spot, I am always looking for a good deal but haven't made any purchase yet.

      @@kenyudoit thanks. yes, I never realize the manual focus is this fun.
      I traveled to UK for 2 weeks, and force myself to take only 7Artisans 25/1.8 and XF27. XF27 is much sharper, but very boring image.

    It would be better if you compare 1.8 and 1.4 images that are at close range ( a foot or so) to see the differences in bokeh quality. Farther images don't make much difference.

    i own the 7artisans 25mm before. sold and bought the ttartisans. mainly because i want the fast f1.4. after using both lenses. i prefer the ttartisans one beter because of the clicky aperture ring and faster stop. the 7arts 25mm 1.8 is abit too slow for my liking though it is way lighter. it is more suit as a quick go to street and some potrait shots. however the sharpness on ttartisans 23 1.4 is very sharp at center while giving more depth of field. even my friend asking why my lens has more bokeh than his viltrox 23mm f1.4 (both at f1.4). i not sure why but the ttartisans is now my main lens and go to lens with my xt3. i would only pair the 7arts 25mm on lighter bodies like xt30 or xe3

    • @kenyudoit
      @kenyudoit  2 роки тому +1

      Good to know you are enjoying the ttartisan, i found there is one thing the 7artisans does better is the close focusing distance is really close, thats why I still use it from time to time.

      @@kenyudoit 1 of the weakness 7arts 25 have is the aperture ring being too smooth. ended up always shooting with wrong aperture

  • @nfswift

    Is it just me or do colors look slightly more saturated on the 7art? And it might just be my eyes tricking me, but the 7art seems to be sharper toward the center especially on distant objects. Where as the ttart seems to compromise some center sharpness but maintains it better out to the corners? Both very nice lenses!

    • @kenyudoit
      @kenyudoit  Рік тому

      They are both nice lenses, because in this video, one lens is on an xt3 and one is on an xt4, I think I might do another video about these two lenses on the same camera so I can be more certain about which lens is doing what.

    currently having the 35mm/f1.2 7artisan

      I think I use the 7artisan more than the ttartisan, it have noting to do with image quality, i just prefer the way the 7artisans look on camera and the weight, with smaller camera, the ttartisan can be front heavy and its not the best feeling when shooting.
