Pretending that hard problem of consciousness doesn't exist doesn't solve the problem. Whether you are a dualist or not, the hard problem is still waiting to be solved.

25:02 the documentary shown, i have actually seen the docu series when it actually aired. This presentation is the exact thing we need to show people, a constructive, detailed breakdown on what 'people' call possession. The problem that bugs me the most is that depression is associated with 'attached' spirit and that's just wrong. As i suffer from bipolar n depression, im most certainly not spiritually 'attached' to any malevolent spirit. It's just my life sucks.

I would say that the conference is a good explanation of how known psicological syndromes were confused in the pass as possession. Today, possession is not taked so easy. The person have to show signs not easy to fake and all psicological syndromes been descarted before classified as possession. Speak in multiple languages not previously known by the person. Show superpowers as moving things around, read minds, etc.

    How he can explain levitation?

how do you know reality when you base yours off movies?

If you can't understand or provide an answer without getting personal, better go with your sarcasm elsewhere.

TheWhiteBlindLight have you witnessed levitation before? something that isn't based off science cannot have a rational answer to. Don't get butt-hurt when a dumb question gets a tad bit of sarcasm as a response.

What's dumb is your arrogance thinking you have all truth grabbed by it tail. Did you ever been in a so called possession case, or made your own homework to get your own conclusions? So don't tell me about rationalism or reality. I was there, you weren't. Science can change conclusions as easy as human perception of what truth, reality or rational can be trough experiences able to me measure and observed. Made questions, research, analyze it and get into conclusions without prejudging people just because they experienced something different and are looking for answers for something they can't explain. That's why I came to watch the video. Yes I did. I went to that house for curiosity because o the rumors of what was going on. I'm an educated person, mentally stable, mature enough and I'm not into religious crap. That young woman was not levitating; "literally" was climbing the wall o her bedroom. The impression on me was so strong that cause me nausea, kind of shock. There were nothing on the walls or around for her to hold or step on. Her parents, are also educated people and business owners. She was observed and treated previously by psychologists and psychiatrists when she started having an erratic behavior. They're not able to find any psychosis or mental illness. I personally know one o them. I used levitation, because I still not able to emotionally digest what I saw with other 8 witnesses how she was able to do that.
Two men grabbed her and put her back in the bed. She was growling, but was not her voice. Her eyes were in blank. If I made a question, is because I'm expecting a "based on science rational explanation" and answer to my question. If impossible is all you can give me, fine. So "possible" will still my conclusions until someone else can proof me that what I saw, was not real.

      TheWhiteBlindLight Sorry if I offended.
The reason why your question about levitation was a bit humorous was because you were asking for a scientific explanation for levitation. I am aware that science changes drastically at times but you are asking science: the institution that holds gravity and evolution as almost facts. The whole point of science is to disprove ideas and concepts and gravity is the most highly held concept in science and if someone could disprove it that would instantly make he or she the most famous scientist in the world. Physics is practically the science of gravity, and for them to have never had a tad bit disbelief in gravity then neither should anyone else - considering you believe unequivocally in science and also considering that every physicist would love to have the award as the most famous scientist of all time.
Hope this ultimately answers your questions, and once again sorry for the offence.

I have a friend who says she was throwing up a lot during an exorcism, she says she vomited 3 buckets of water and she "predicted" stuff that happened miles away and she said names of people she didn't know and they later found who these people were on the internet. Wondering if these phenomena are known in modern psychology?

lol I assume you live in a first world country and I'm sure someone had to have documented this occasion - I really want to know where I can get the information.

Maffew Maffew I asked her the exact same thing. She said she had video evidence of this going on, but it was inadvertently erased from the phone by her father.
I don't live in a first world country btw

I have posted above about the study of parapsychology and the problems associated with trying to duplicate or even capture experiences that based on anecdotal evidence tend to be fleeting and irregular. The story you tell is obviously very problematic since it claims that all sorts of very significant paranormal events took place yet the only objective evidence, the video recording, was "inadvertently" erased. As I also mention above there is a lot of hoaxing that goes on with the paranormal, and this also discourages scientists from studying these phenomena. So the incident can accomplish nothing other than reinforcing the beliefs of people who are already convinced that demons, exorcisms, whatever are real.

What do you mean "known" to modern psychology? Of course the idea of ESP or telepathy or precognition are known concepts; however, these fields of science do not support belief in them as valued scientific explanations of psychological phenomena. Also, modern psychology/psychiatry does NOT support any paranormal beliefs or abilities such as ESP or precognition or channeling or any other conventional ability associated with the paranormal and mediumship in particular (the "possessed" are often thought to be channeling some sort of supernatural force such as a demon). Until such experiences are documented, well, and can be duplicated in experiments, science will continue to view such claims as dubious at best.

+Matthew Maffew Isn't it funny as in odd
that people who have claims of very significant paranormal events NEVER have documentary evidence as it always is eaten by the dog or accidentally erased or mysteriously didn't record correctly -- and on and on and on. Sigh.

I believe our consciousness is created out of nothing. Once any type of life begins there is a level of consciousness. So if an infinite number of life can be created, then so too can an infinite number of consciousness exist.
Solved it. Now...Where's my Nobel prize? 🎩

    • @AleisterCrowleyMagus
      @AleisterCrowleyMagus 7 років тому +2

Certainly you understand that "all forms of life" do NOT have consciousness in the way that is scientifically defined. Bacteria are alive but they are not "conscious;" they lack the basic biological structures that must be present for consciousness to exist. Single-celled organisms are alive but not conscious.

@@AleisterCrowleyMagus that's true however consciousness is similar to awareness of yourself and thoughts and surroundings but that is not so apparent with babies so consciousness must develop maybe hormones activate it?

What Chris French is giving us here is best described as a solution. For instance, I could say to you that I'm thinking of two numbers which, when multiplied together, give me the number 12. Then I could ask you, what are the two numbers I am thinking of? Someone may say, 3 and 4, and this of course is a valid solution, but, it 's by no means the only solution to the problem, other valid solutions include: 0.12 x 100 and 0.6 x 20. In fact, there are an infinite number of solutions to that problem. Consequently, just because Chris French has found what he thinks is a solution that appears to, "fit the facts" and helps explain away the problem of interest, does not necessarily mean that it is the correct one. To quote a popular line from a song with a George Gershwin musical accompaniment, "It Ain't Necessarily So!" If I could give two words that for me sum up Chris French's approach to his presentation it would be: cherry picking! if you are going to quote words of Jesus then you can't , "cherry pIck" his words and only run with half of the what was said. If you don't believe that Jesus existed or don't believe as Christ French does that Jesus did any miracles then why on earth can you quote from a source which you yourself do not trust. Trying to apply the rules of checkers to a more complex game such as chess simply can't be done. Likewise, you can't apply the rules of science to the spiritual realm. Science has rules, and it has been successful because of those rules, it allows for experimentation that should be repeatable if done by others in another lab. Chris French seems to make his case giving the impression he knows all the answers or science will soon know those answers given enough time. Mixing truth with untruths will only lead to confusion. Yes we know that there are schizophrenics, and epileptics and others with one sort of malady or another, but just because Chris feels that he can explain away those things does not mean that the real deal does not exist.
