Where does the box like fuse hook up to? On passenger side",fuel injector wire? It was just hanging and looked as if it was grounded someplace?.

You can use a big screw driver to amplify the noise. Just put the screwdriver on the alternator and put your ear to the handle.
As far as the volt meter, you can use a multimeter as well.
