    Just got this camera... very complicated unit and it can be a little overwhelming so having videos like this are very helpful.

    This camera is absolutely fantastic. I use it as my main shooter and I can't believe how versatile and customization it is for the price of the body. I shoot portraits on a 70-200 f2.8 and I absolutely love it.

    G'day CR T, I've just bought a D7100, my first DSLR and so far I'm a little overwhelmed. Thanks for your informative vid., it'l help a lot.

    D7100 is lovely. I am blown away by the low light capabilities. I'd get the 35 for sure and then the 85 if you will be doing lots of people pictures, if not I might consider the 70-200 or the 70-300 from Nikon. There is also a Tamron 28-75 that is excellent.

    It is possible. The D700 has a built in intervalometer that lets you shoot images you can then combine (on your computer) into a timelapse.

    What is your budget? The Nikon 17-55 is excellent. I really like the Tamron 28-75 for the money but it starts a little narrow which isn't so helpful with landscape shots.

    The 70-200 is more versatile for nature photos. If just people I'd say 85 but with nature photos you will be much happier with the 70-200.

    Thank you very much. I am waiting delivery of my D7100 and your video has increased my anticipation and, explained some of the new Nikon features. I am upgradeing from a D5000 so this camera looks like a Star Wars version by comparison...;-)

    Thank you, that was very helpful. I feel a little overwhelmed with the whole camera. I've been shooting with my D80 for the last 4 years, really love it, but wanted to "move up." I'm just finding it hard to learn all these bazillions of functions.

    I watched this last year when you first put if up. I found it very informative. I happened to be going through your channel and it randomly played this selection again. Part way thru the video, I thought I heard a cat. My dog definitely heard a cat and took off into the backyard to look for it. I ran after her to avoid a massacre and after finding no cat we came back inside and watched the rest of the video. I then thought back to the first time I watched the video and remembered there had been a cat defcon 1 situation back then too. Could it be? I went back and watched the video again and sure enough right around 6:25 into the video you can hear a furry feline in the video. Touché good sir, that is twice you have made my dog and I spend half an hour looking in the backyard for a non-exsistent cat.

    Thank you for making this video, but I think you had forgotten that the people who would sit and watch this type of video are amateurs, and do not have the knowledge and understanding that you do. You assumed a lot, took a lot for granted, blew past some items I was looking forward to hearing explained and you failed to describe some aspects of some of the settings that I would have appreciated. But, appreciate your time in doing this

    i am thinking on buying myself a nikon d7100 and 2 lenses, an 85mm and an 35mm, do you think that is enugh or should i take an zoom-lens instead of one of them? i were sorely tempted of buying an d600 but i think maybe the d7100 is enugh of an uppgrade from my old slugish olympus e-500 ;)

    Date information is not printed on the photos -it is embedded in the photos EXIF. And all decent photo viewing programs will show you that information. There are ways to get the date to show on the photo after you download them to the computer but it will take a separate program.

    Hi Toby, i'm a newbie in photography, i have this d7100, and why i can't change my exposure when i dial it when im in manual mode? but it does do change when i dial it in aperture mode... it kept me thinking.. or do i really have to control my exposure in manual mode manually by bumping up or down my shutter speed, f-stop or iso? Does the exposure button is really useless in manual mode? Thanks and more power

    I am a pro with Nikons for 25 years. Recently my D7000 was used and an assistant set the buttons for U1 and U2 - now my auto-focus doesn't work at all except in that mode. Must I reset that so the camera will work in manual etc.

    I have a D90, a D500 and now a second hand D7100 is coming and I haven´t arrived to understand how the heck File Naming works on these cameras. I find so absurd and confusing using only 4 digits for numbers. Why? Why can´t they go on and jump up to 5 and or 6 digits? File numbers can be the same in time. So if you reach 9999 then it goes to 0000. What the heck?! Why not 10000???!!! Very interesting video. I´m learning many things. Thanks!

    On my previous Nikon D5300, I could browse images using the wheel, rather than the navipad, in the playback view. However, on my Nikon 7100 this option does not seem to be the default setting. How can I change this ?

    So is that 1.3x crop area any different than me just cropping the image in Lightroom afterwards? Other than saving space I'm not sure why I would use that.

    • @2dL
      @2dL 10 років тому

      You could take 7fps photos. That would be useful for sports and if you don't have a very long lens.

    • @MylesJP
      @MylesJP 10 років тому

      2dL So the file sizes and faster shutter are the only advantages then. The crop factor sounds to me like it's just cropping off the edges which you could do in Lightroom anyways and get the exact same result.

    • @2dL
      @2dL 10 років тому

      Aunt Jemima Yep, I guess that's the advantage! I'm still learning about the camera, though. I'm searching everywhere to see what is best for me, the 7100 or the 5300. Cheers.
