Ryan Murphy is a genius when it comes to coding his characters as gay. Santana (from Glee, another one of his shows) had one of the most drawn-out and comprehensive coming out stories in recent television history. He's coding both of these characters to end up with each other. Eddie says it straight out. He doesn't trust any other human being with his kid as much as he does Buck. Every scene of either of them that matters revolves around the other one. Not a single scene from either of them stands out unless it has to do with the other one. I promise you, by the finale, Ryan Murphy will give us Buddie.
Ok now I have a feeling that Eddie started to give some importance to that teacher and maybe he invited her home for dinner, this is where Buck starts to feel jealous of the teacher, maybe Eddie doesn't notice it yet, but there are feelings that he has deeply developed for Buck. Obviously Buck notices them and thinks it's better to walk away and avoid Eddie. Maddie and Chimey ask him the question of why he has not spent time with Eddie anymore, to which Buck responds, he is a bit busy (looking down with a sad face), Maddie notices him and then asks Eddie that maybe he needs to be a bit away from Buck. At station 118 Buck begins to evade Eddie and this is where everything else I hope and begins to develop ... I even have in my head a clear image of Buck crying for the absence of Christopher in his life and there is Eddie watching him in the distance. This sounds pretty cool 👌 and I think it goes to that way...

lots of innuendos back & forth more than just friends..(but after all it's just a show) it can go either way if the writers choose to.
