Thank you for sharing this video.
I have the same problem with the muffler on my Yale forklift.
I didn't even consider using a car hoist for the counterweight. Great idea!

Just make sure you lift ONLY the counterweight with all four lift arms...Do not try and lift the forklift like a car or else you will asymmetrically load your carriages and damage your lift! It's definitely sketchy lifting it off without another forklift so watch your fingers and toes! Thanks for watching

      Thanks for the advice!
I haven't installed lifts in my new shop yet but I am already committed to an asymmetrical post design due to the position of the tubes in my heated floors. I am glad you said something because I wasn't considering the twist from only using 2 pads even though I would keep the weight centered between the posts. I will take your advice and use all 4 pads!

Curious how you rigged the straps and arm position on your 2 post to lift the counterwight off. About the do the same to mine.

I used ALL FOUR arms directly CENTERED on the 2 post lift with some 6k slings through the sky hook areas on the counterweight. Definitely sketchy but doable as long as nothing is front/rear loaded on the lift arms.

I have the exact same truck, except mine is propane. Do have any info for replacement parts? Tia

It depends on what you need. Replacement parts for the engine the hydraulics or the actual fork truck?

Good job! So if I have to replace the muffler on my 5500lb capacity Hyster forklift I need to lift the counterweight with crane or forklift which can hold 5500lb weight? This is how much the counterweight weight is.

most of the time the counterweight weighs as much as the capacity of the forklift so yea you'd need something that can lift 5500lbs safely. Look on the data plate and see what the unit itself weighs as well. I'm guessing the whole forklift is in the 9000-11000lb range.

@@hcr-motorworks You right, data plates says 6300 lb counterweight. Now I am buying another forklift to fix my current forklift muffler))) Thanks

Lol, there is other ways to get it off without buying a whole other forklift...ahhh who am i kidding, more machinery is always a good choice!
