By the.way, I have had some reports on DentalTown that people have had a better (i.e. brighter) experience with the unilux battery than I had; perhaps the battery I was provided with wasn't representative of their standard performance. So please take that part of the review with a grain of salt! Thank you, that is all.
Hello Doc!! Thankyou for the detailed Video. I have a question, what in your opinion is the best light for dental implantology having the best value for money and how would you compare Dr. Kim shadow less head light with Lumadent HL360?
Thank you so much. Actually it is very hard to find "real" review about dental headlights online, which makes it challening to choose decent one. This video quite helped me to buy a good headlight.
You're so welcome!! I know what you mean - It took me FOREVER to find the right surgical headlight to fit my needs... My intention with the video was to save others the time that I spent (or wasted lol). I'm so glad you found it useful!
Hi Michael, Yes you didn't get the full experience from the Unilux battery. It has 4 intensities, which are changed via the built in control cable connecting wire to light, goes to 50,000 Lux. You would be impressed. The wire is short and attaches to your collar or lapel with a magnet. Making this feel like a cordless battery
Hello Michael, I am a veterinary surgeon and I wanted to ask you, do you use glasses with LED protection built on the lenses? Thank you and great video.
I have the older version of the Lumadent. I actually prefer to new batter design because the old battery toggle switch would accidentally switch on in my backpack and drain the battery overnight. Also, the turn knob for brightness comes loose.
Great video. What about power on/off function in the prolux version. I'm thinking about the hygienic perspective using your fingers to turn it on/off during treatment. Dont you think ie touch control would add further benefits to the product?
Ideally you're turning it on prior to putting your gloves on, and turning it off after you've taken everything off and sanitized. If you do need to turn it off during a procedure, the advantage with the new prolux battery is that it is a very smooth battery with less nooks and crannies for bugs to hide in; the surface of the power button is actually continuous with the surface of the rest of the battery, so it should be easier to disinfect than the old V3, for example. Perhaps this is one of the reasons why they changed their design up.
I have laziness in the left eye due to the deviation of the cornea and my eyesight in it is 1/10, while the right one is intact...Do the lenses fit me?
Great Review, and I appreciated the perspective. Can you go into detail/make a video about your choice of loupes and telescopes, and the reasoning behind your selections? Thanks!

Have you tried the Bilumix? Is BFW similar? I'm glad to see that you can use this surgical light between the loupes, strongly considering it, but as you mentioned might be a problem if it cures your composite too fast lol
Haven’t tried Bilumix. With the light on the lowest setting I find I have a decent amount of working time with composite. Working on Anterior resins where cosmetic requirements necessitate more working time, I’d be more concerned. I typically use my Global A6 scope for everything except surgery, and then this light with loupes for extractions and other surgical procedures.
Hi Dr. Michael, Im just wondering if you could tell me the best working distance for lumadent and approximately what’s the size of the illuminated area. Is the size for working distance betwwen lumadent and design for vision are the same? Thank you so much and more power!
@@tubbs1380 Airlux is good, Prolux is better, and BFW daymark is best for endo. BFW is very expensive, but amazing because of the co-axial positioning of the light (more light gets into the pulp chamber to allow you to see). If BFW isn't in your budget, I would go Prolux HL360 headlight from lumadent over the airlux, because it is a bit brighter.
Do you have any comparison or thoughts orascoptic’s spark or endeavour (I used those in past but think they way overpriced now) and what’s your thoughts on Lumadent wavelux? Thanks
Is it better than Univet pro led headlights Bc i am thinking of buying new light and idk which one should i go tried the univet one and its white but don’t have any idea about lumadent
I didn't add anything to the cord that they didn't send me - it was included with the package they sent me. However, I don't recall if the rings were on my original light cord from the previous version of the light.
Do you have any thoughts on the Eye Mag Pro S from Zeiss??? It sounded like one that may be very useful for both dentistry and OMFS. Im a gen dentist that does a lot of surgery in office (implant and full arch ext cases)
I don't think the eye mag pro s has an integrated light. The design makes it seem very difficult to include a headlight, too. Even with the best surgical overhead lighting, you still won't get that nice even co-axial lighting afforded by a really good headlamp.
@@MichaeltheDentist I think they have a new light system that gets pretty close to the arrangement you have with your headset. maybe not quite as close, and not as bright as an enova light (although that's not necessary for restorative dentistry). but better than many other set ups i've seen. i'd prob have to send you a picture to better explain. that whole set up is coming out to around 4K USD before tax right now unfortunately.
@@mhb3003 since i last posted i got the Eye Mag Pro S and the newest light they have. I enjoy both. And the light and loupes are coaxial I'd imagine enova is much more effective in terms of light quality, maybe much more so than many would need. The newer eye mag light has a 3 hour life and two batteries. If your team can't switch out your battery for you it may not be a great option (would suck to scrub out to change battery every 3 hours) I just wish enova could combine their tech with zeiss

Great presentation. Question for you please. Design for Vision Rep mentioned to me about their light being corrected for Blue Light which overtime can damage your retina. Does Lumadent mention anything about this in their light?? Thanks
The little switch on the cord also changes the intensity of the light. No need to worry about doing it from the battery itself. If you’re good, you can use your shoulder to do it. 👍🏻
I’m currently looking for a new light system for my lumadent loupes. I have the unilux corded battery option that clips the the nape if your shirt but the cords after let about 5 years have crapped out. Thinking about the airlux. I am a hygienist! Would love your opinion!
Have you tried the Heine ML4? It has the brightness of 60,000 lux as well, perfect fit between the loops and the wireless version costs around 2000 USD (in Poland). Also it looks smaller and more aesthetically pleasing in comparison to BFW. So I can't see your point.
@michael Bailey can’t grasp how it’s comedic to you but as a facial plastic surgeon I’ve tried them all and Heine is way pricier and lower tech than Enova or Univet. Used Heine for years when I was a resident but nowadays they’ve fallen back.
@@marceloovg1873 Heine are high quality and generally for professionals. They require correct setup. Maybe something out of the box would better suit you. Possibly readers.
