    Love your review! Very honest and straight to the point. I'm a junior DHS. And I just purchased Design for Vision. So this is definitely good feedback to know.
    Next week, I'll be speaking to a Lumadent Rep. So we'll see if I'll switch up.

    Hey man love your videos!
    I'm a hygienist practicing in FL and have been using the ErgoPrism Loupes 3.3x mag with the AirLux wireless light since December 2020 and have found them to be the best purchase I've ever made. Your positive points are spot on and I do my best to promote these as it's probably the best way to avoid musculoskeletal disorders of the head/neck/shoulders/spine as a dental provider.
    I have not had any issues with hygiene procedures like perio charting and I it may be because I have a lower magnification and therefore a wider field of view. I'd always assumed that dentists would need higher magnification as you tend to work in more focused areas during treatment so you're probably going to be well off with your 5x mags once you graduate.
    I have the wireless light and have never had any electrical so that may be a long term fix for what you mentioned in the video. The AirLux light does not add too much weight on your face even after extended periods. I've had plenty of days in which I worked pretty much non-stop for 9+ hours (assisted hygiene with a short staff) with few breaks and barely had any fatigue/eye strain that you would expect after seeing patients all day. Glad to see more providers using/promoting these, good luck in your studies Doc!

    Hey just a quick question, im a second year dental student. We have the option to go with ergo loupes or the orascoptic loupes that I would probably get in the same configuration that you have. Would you suggest I start off with the orascoptic and get the ergo loupes later on, after I finish dental school? Great video btw!

    @vladborisov2374 Рік тому

    Hello, I use oroscoptic XV1 and Dragonfly, so I am unaware if this could help you put or not. The reason why is because those units don't have a battery pack and the wiring is internal. I have adjusted the handles to hang around my neck instead of the string supporting my loupes. Just an evaluation, while your sitting and talking to camera, I see that while they are hanging there is some strain that the cable is going through which may be the problem of it getting louse. Please let me know if it helps

    I use Z shield additional to protect from underneath. But still many equipment hanging: light, Loupe, and z shield if you need to put them aside during treatment is time consuming in the middle of a procedures and a busy schedule.

      @@AM.000 hey! I got the Admetec Ergo Loupes 3.0x about 4 months ago. They are great, the learning curve was pretty fast for me and their wireless light is incredible. I had never used loupes before and for what I do (Ortho) I can say I prefer not using magnification, but had to adapt for the ergonomics, my neck was hurting. So now I use them for everything except bonding lingual retainers, I find I need to over extend my neck to directly see the inferior incisors.

    Hi Stephen, goodluck in your clinical years and i just have few questions that i'm curious about.
    1) i just wondering do you feel some kind of eye strain or headache after using your loupe for long hours since your view is magnified with the loupe and your eye may take time to adjust to the normal magnification after not using the loupe?
    2) Does this loupe is lightweight ?
    3) What do you do to overcome the worry of something might get into your eye since there is some space between the loupe and your eyes?

    Wanted to ask about the lumadent prolux headlight. The 40 hr battery life, is that on the lowest intensity?
    Do you know what the battery life is like on the highest intensity?
    Cheers

    • @stephenraydentist

      thanks for the question!! that 40 hours is almost certainly at the lowest setting. I have never actually tested the battery life but I would imagine it is at around 24 hours of use at the highest setting. Certainly enough to get you through a lot of dentistry!

    hey nice review video!
    do you think your Ergo prism 5.0x is significantly more magnified than your orascoptic 3.5x?
    I only ask because i'm hearing that since your head is more tilted up for Ergo loupe, 5.0x in ergo is more like 4.0x for traditional loupe.

    Just bought a pair at the Midwinter meeting - ErgoPrism TTL 4.5x with the ProLUX headlight.
    You didn't mention the variable working distance - from what I understand my loupes will come fit the an adjustable lens, allowing me to focus at multiple working lengths.

    • @stephenraydentist
      @stephenraydentist  4 місяці тому

      This is very true! Working length has never been an issue for me so since they’re already properly set at my working length, I never mess with that variable feature. It does exist and work however and it’s really a good one to have!

    Great video! Incoming 1st year--were you required to first get non-ergo loupes? If it's allowed, would you recommend starting out with a set of ergo loupes as a first year?

    • @stephenraydentist
      @stephenraydentist  4 місяці тому +1

      At my school, we were only able to pick from the Options Orascoptic had at the time and none of them were Ergo loupes. Now Orascoptic offers an Ergo loupe setup that our D1s can pick if they'd like. Other schools do it differently and give their D1s multiple companies to choose their loupes from. It just depends on where you go and how they do it. I would definitely recommend Ergo loupes from Day 1. Start early with them. Maybe someday, you'll want a pair of high mag regular loupes for certain applications but your daily driver can absolutely be a pair of Ergos!

    • @stephenraydentist
      @stephenraydentist  Рік тому

      Thanks for the question! I could but I dont prefer to wear a faceshield for obvious reasons. They tend to be bulky and are just an extra layer to account for. I do have a great faceshield that I wear for Perio procedures, however, and I really like that one. But this is a good point!

  • @MrGW2fanboy
    @MrGW2fanboy Рік тому

    Do they plan to do higher than 5x mag? Because you already lose some mag from the working distance so 5x ends up being more like 4.2x so it would be nice to get a 5.8x or higher version.

      Thanks for the comment, Marna!! I completely understand why you feel this way! I promise you, however, that dental treatments tend to be very routine for the practitioner, and they will help you greatly! Start by working with a dentist that makes you feel comfortable. If you meet them and they do not seem to make an effort to comfort and care for you, consider seeing a different dentist. Another thing you can do is politely ask for nitrous oxide. Nitrous makes you feel very relaxed. I have had nitrous multiple times in school, and it makes a dental procedure that may seem scary turn into a pleasant experience. Make sure you explain to your dentist that you are nervous and also explain why. Did you have a bad experience with the dentist? Are you nervous because of the way the instruments look? Are you nervous because you think something will go wrong? These are the questions you need to ask yourself and explain to the dentist. If they're any good, they'll care for you properly! If all else fails, come see me in Ashland City, TN in 2024!
