What life's all about for a Toy Man Television 'adventure'. The Grand Canyon is on my "bucket list" of re-do's. Was there in my wasted youth and hiked to the river and back up in one day. There is a sign as you start the head of the trail, "The trip back up the Canyon is much more exhausting the trip down." Dale and Karen's "Brilliant" clip brought that all back. The NMRA is just plain great to see. The fires out west have taken their toll on the vistas of the Canyon. Well Done!
+Jeanne Uzar Such a fun trip. And then on to Durango. And the next week Ely. Now the snow is coming so we are turning to playing with the trains!! GOOD TIMES
I don’t remember the year back in the 1980’s stopping at the south rim of The Grand Canyon. I remember the town at the time had some roads paved over the intact RR tracks. They didn’t have an operating railroad at that time.
+Werner Sievers Der Grand Canyon verdient den Namen . Was für ein Ort ! Und all die Nationalparks auf dem Colorado , Bryce , Zion , Canyonlands , Arches , Capitol Reef und mehr. Kleine Fläche , große Aussichten.
I was on the grand canyon train when I was younger. They used the steam engine going up there then on the way back that used diesel. I was ridding 3rd class and I fell getting up from my seat.
I that's awaome love steam I love ho scale trains me and my dad are thinking about starting a layout in my room my name is Matthew love your videos you post
HI. We will be putting up a fun vid on designing a small HO layout for a small room, that works like a huge layout!! Basically it's a "dog bone". A shelf down one wall about 12 to 18 inches wide. From one corner to another corner along the entire wall. As it's narrow, it's easy to have in any room. At the corners it widens to a minimum of 3 feet. 4 is better. But in a corner its not bad. In the corners you lay curves as wide at the shelf allows. 4 feet you can put down track at 22 inch radius, 3 feet down to only 15. SO 4 feet is way better, however a lot of things can get through a 15 inch, and 99% can make it around an 18. Which requires about 40 inches at the corner. Keep in mind the corners need not be square! A 4 foot corner can angle back to the narrow shelf only 2 feet from the corner, so it really fits the room well!!!! Now have a ball designing the track plan!! In even a small room you have perhaps 8 feet of shelf where you can really get creative.
I will film the Grand Canyon railway with the three films they are still operating two steam locomotives 4960 and 29 I am glad that you are playing the music and by the way they are still using the diesel trains and I will film them but I don't know if I am going to film the steam locomotives but it is fun to ride them.
Cool tourist class coaches, Did they have flush toilets, or a sign that says "DO NOT USE THE TOILETS IN THE STATION"? / Do you have be a member of the NMRA, to come to this convention? What is the entry fee? • Cheers from The Detroit & Mackinac Railway 🚂
I saw engine #29 on display at the Grand Canyon Depot on your vid. That engine is unique because it is a sister to our #33 that we used to own and operate at Hocking Valley Scenic Railway in Nelsonville, Ohio. #29 ran until 2008 when the railroad suspended steam for nearly a year. In September 2009, #4960 was brought back to life to run on biodiesel but #29 needs more attention. We would love to have it but we only have enough money to run our newly restored #3 0-6-0 switcher.
I like the old Floquil railroad paint. Can still find it in places, but it's a problem to get anymore. Not sure what to use when I can't get it any more.
Like your others, I enjoyed this video. The GC is a favorite destination of mine. If you haven't yet, visit the North Rim sometime. Coming from a pro motorsports background (IMSA, USAC) I couldn't help but notice that your ride in this video is outfitted with a roll bar. Some added safety or is there more to this?
+Art Griggs Hi! It's a BDX Mustang by Barber Driving. Road and track car. We have 2, BDX 9, and when the red one came on the market, BDX 5 we grabbed it. 5 is more of a track car, way more horsepower, wings, roll bar and such. 9 it more tame, only 400 Hp and auto trans. Love them both! (and we have a 67 GT 500)
If you aren't already familiar, my brother designs and builds components for the serious. Any of your cars would benefit but I was thinking of your '67. www.griggsracing.com/ Take a close look at what was done with John Vogler's 1970 GR350.
Yes, a bit more!! ua-cam.com/video/j8BSfINrmpw/v-deo.html and ua-cam.com/video/RRS3GdPzMLI/v-deo.html And ua-cam.com/video/Mc8JUjuNDzM/v-deo.html for all the car stuff. If you like this stuff, share it around! Having trouble connecting to the car people out there for some reason.
+Dominik Polska Big Boy is coming along. Should be out for 2019 for the 150 anniversary of the golden spike. 3985 is all but ruined. Will be back at some point, but some fool had an idea to make the boiler "safer", messed with it. May need a new one.

Want to get back when they are running steam.
Well I don't know if I will film on a steam train with 29, 4960, or on a diesel train but I will still film that railroad.
That looks pretty cool! How long are you on the train for?
+Ben Sommer Its about a 2 hour trip each way. About 3 hours at the canyon. So it's a full day!.

Love to get out and see your railroad. In time!! So much screwing around, so little time!
what paint do you use on model you build?

A new talent for the violin? As fun as the fools speech (but surely less informative).
Great to see such nice model layout.
+pbyfr Guess it's in my DNA. Or the fact he had control of the fiddle!
the steam engine that is in this video is back in service
Running 5 times this year. !!!!!
why is your steering wheel on the wrong side of car because you drive on wrong side of road
+Jimmy Walker Here in Utah we are lucky if people even pick one side.
She is on the centre of the road its too wide
by the way I like your videos good work and well done
