- I will show you how to use an inexpensive clear mat bought from Temu for €2.88 with very little effort and it works like magic. Not sure how long it will last as I have only just tried this out in this video so will have to come back to you on this.
PLEASE DO NOT use this method on a brand new machine as it could invalidate your warranty, my machine is well past that so I feel confident in using this method. Besides, with a new machine your mats should still be sticky!

I have been using thIs hack for a year. !'m happy to see that you are the second brave person teaching this hack. I tried this hack with the first brave person to show it and it works all the time. With the clear mat that you are using you don't have to cut anything at the top because the scanner will pick up on the black square codes. You have to cut just a smidge if the mat used is a solid color because the square codes don't show through. I use both type of mats depending on the Amazon sale at any given time. I hope many see and try this hack. You will save a ton of money on the costly original mats by saving their longevity with the more affordable hack mats on top. Happy crafting!!!
Not only is this mat😮 issue extremely annoying and time consuming but the replacement mats are ridiculously expensive. I love my DX but I’m furious with Brother over this issue. Hello from Tasmania Australia 😊
I couldn't agree more, we shouldn't have to look for workarounds for replacements for expensive mats. I have been using this one since I first did the video and it's still going strong! I have found one annomaly and that is it won't work with the for some reason
Hi Anne, i did it with the clear mat on a scan mat i was'nt using - you just need the 3 sqaures at the top of the mat for it to load and now i have another cutting mat, thank you for brilliant video

The scan n cut is a great machine but it's let down by it's mats. Why oh why don't Brother bring out a decent mat. Thank you for your video.
