Scotty and miss apples, a legendary duo
Miss Apples? Guess Dave got another dog to keep Peaches company.
lol
😆😆😆😆
@@rmarkley79 thats the joke.....
Too funny!!!
I had this pizza a few days before Pres went. I talked to the chef. They do a 2 day cold ferment for dough and cook it in an oven at 750F. It’s crispy and chewy, bright red sauce, great amount of sauce to cheese. Highly recommend it. It’s my second favorite pie in Connecticut, second only to Sally’s
Had it last week and thought it wasn't that great. Way to chewy. To each there own
$17.50 was for the cookie pal.
Damn!
😄 good one
I figured they gave the cookies for free and charged for the Pizza. But damn, cookies are going for $8 a piece in CT?
😹😹😹

It has been a part of my routine for a long time. Always make sure I put it on after work before I eat dinner since they always make me hungry
I hope you don’t work in combustion.
That pizza looks incredible, Scott doesn't grab that glorious bubble slice per usual, everyone knows the rules.
Over half the slices had bubbles to some degree but he grabs one of the only ones without. Edit: literally the only bubble-less slice.
The crust must have bubbles
@@turtlepowersfMiss Apples would be so disappointed
Bubble trouble bubble trouble!
Lol.... I know eh!? That's Scotty for ya... always with a curveball.
That's a rookie score Scott!
At least he has the adorable Mss Apples

😂😂😂
Apizza...
... is a thin-crust pizza that is traditionally baked in a coal-fired brick oven.
@@catseyes2334 which this was not. Lies.
@@Shrooms84 Yes, it was. It said so on the sign. I appreciate that Scott didn't think so but that's like, you know, his opinion.
One 7.6 that was definitely a 7.8 but Dave got offended by it being called Apizza.
I called it a 7.8, also
same@@joeblow5037
I called 7.7 I'm getting good at this
Me too said 7.8
I agree, I think he "punished" them because it didn't fit his definition of what "Apizza" is. That pie looked way better than a 7.6, definitely 7.8 or 7.9 territory no problem. It definitely has the apizza "DNA" based upon the appearance, I think if it was a bit "crunchier" and had the "black" on the bottom they could have eked out an 8.1.
Thank you Scott for your reviews.
Yes..!!
That pie looks incredible!
Hey, just wondering if you still think that pie looks incredible?
Dominos looking, wtf u on?
@@wizcorn9958 ?
7.3 at best
No it doesn't 😂
One bite everybody knows Dave is more baked than the cookie.
Scoring a chocolate chip cookie, 20 seconds after eating pizza is idiotic. It probably tastes like Chocolate pizza.
@@kidwave1😂
Scott
Ha
That looks like a legitimately perfect pizza
gimme a lil less flop, and im right there with ya
How exactly?
Shoulda been 7.8. It’s a good slice.
No it doesn’t lol it looks alright, mid 7s was what I guessed
@JonBonesJones84 not everyone likes cracker crunchy thin. Looks perfect for me.
Excellent review Scott.
Yes
I dont think I could have a cookie like that without a glass of ice cold milk.

Love the intro,,, did 12 years into pizzz, Keep it ON!
Yes
In this exact building was one of my favorite pizza places of all time called Eleni's Restaurant! it’s been gone for more than four years now and every time I drive by this new place I get sad.
Sounds like they didn't make it through the pLandemic.
Sad
Have you tried the new place?
Review?
Lol!
Nobody:
Dave: “Where are we?”
Never before has a pizza thumbnail picture looked more like the official archetypal one bite intro pizza picture.
😂 Now that you say it...
Immediately checked it. Immediately laughed. 9.9 for that observation.
Yes
Ironically the intro pizza looks like a 7.2
Gotta disagree. The intro pizza is loaded with mutz, which I've always wondered about because Scott doesn't like soupy pizza like that.
This is one of my favorite pizza joints in CT. There is a ton of good places in CT.
that pizza looked great to me

Moving back to CT soon. Can’t wait. Some of the best pizza I’ve come across is from that state. Whole tri-state area is great!

I almost died when he said Niantic was thirty minutes from New Haven 😂
The origin of the name "A pizza" is how Neapolitans / southern Italians call "La pizza" (they drop the "L"), meaning "the pizza". It isn't a specifica pizza style, it's how some old pizza makers from Italy called it there and used it as part of their store name, and it stuck. Never tire of your videos.
Bro, if you want to give a language lesson that's one thing, but where are you from? I'm from New Haven. Apizza IS a style and if you had a clue you would know that. Kick rocks. Everyone knows the rules. LMAO. Try giving that explanation on Wooster Street and see what kind of response you get. You're funny.

Madman doing an off-the-cuff instant 7.8 review of that drive-by "Aaay!" at 3:24
.
My father from Italy used the term “Apizza” he’s never been to New Haven Connecticut ! Apizza is a dialect of Southern Italian that means "the pizza". It's pronounced "ah-beetz" and comes from the Italian phrase la'pizza (the pizza). In spoken dialect, the "L" is often skipped or eaten, so the word for pizza is Pizza, not Apizza. In dialect, the word would be written " 'a pizza ", and the apostrophe would mean the "L" that is not pronounced. Neapolitans also tend to stay on the "a" for some time when they pronounce these words, so it could also be written in a more phonetic form, “ 'aa pizza
That clarified absolutely nothing for me.
Apizza 4 minute review, yah we knew where that was going
Didn't even get to see miss apples either 😢
Ha
That looks like a awesome pizza, right soft to crisp ratio, great char

Great idea Dave! “Apizza” is the new Michelin star for pizza. If you approve it they can use it in their sign 😊😊
Lately the scores are all over the place, we saw just in the last couple of weeks only conveyor belt trash pizza scoring 7.2 or 7.4 and pizza like this one, obviously a very good one (it does looks amazing) scoring 7.6
Glad you liked the pizza. It's a little better than Mystic pizza. I had Angie's pizza in Mystic, CT Off of Dennison and Rosevelt (intersection of 27 and 1) some years back (5? 10?). I thought it was the best in the area. Angie's and the Plum Tomato in East Lyme (might have changed names and owners from "Yummy Yummy" pizza?). It's near the intersection of rte 1 and 181 heading 200 feet? north at the intersection. Those 2 use to be the best pizza spots in the area, I thought. Had rooms comped at Foxwoods during the winter. Went to all the pizza places in the area. These are the ones I remember. Happy pizza hunting! (Nothing like local breakfast potatoes in the diners / breakfast restaurants in the area too. "The Shack" south of 1 and 181.))
Oh yeah! The plum Tomato (AKA Yummy Yummy?) Was really interesting in that it tasted different during it's different cool stages. It actually tasted better just above warm than it did hot! Never had a pizza change like that before. pizza would always just get worst the cooler it got from very warm to cold...

I wish we could cast our rating
🗳️ with a time stamp as we’re watching cus I swear I am nailing these numbers with deadly accuracy. It’s wild how we attune to his scale and ratings given all things considered.
Go to OCEAN PIZZA in New London. Also, VALENTINO'S in Ledyard. Ocean Pizza is Greek style that will bring tears to your eyes. Valentino's is a NY style Napolitano that will make you feel like you're back in NYC. You're welcome.
Nobody thanked you.
Being in CT I had to look these spots up. I do have an appreciation for Greek style when done right. Ocean pizza looks pretty good but I was really hoping to see an authentic gyro on the menu not that frozen pre formed meat. That’s one way I judge the Greeks beyond the pizza. They got the thick cut steak fries though I’ll give them that.
@@jrs4ex Ocean has been there for many generations. I do think that they cater to the local demographic, which is very Italian. Maybe it's a good sign that they are still so popular after all these years!
@@mikegee4922 Good observation! I bet you're really good at this
@@MattyK-USA Good to know, appreciate the heads up it looks excellent and they’ve got great Google reviews. It’s very rare to find places in this state that have the true fresh sliced gyro meat that’s all. I’m definitely gonna add it to the list for pizza and Italian fare. I’m just sour I’ve gotta drive 1hr for a gyro lol 😂
Looks fantastic
LMAO my dad is Italian and the only time he puts A front of his language is when He swears > A Fungu - A Fanapla! So Funny

Yes..!!
There's a apizza place on vashon Island in Washington State. All about it and he gave me a round about reason on why he has apizza part of his name. Something about working aside someone but it was more a traditional NY big pizza .... I was upset.
Pizza fraudsters everywhere

Dave! Have you ever been to South Dakota? Come to Brookings. Visit the home of Repeat FCS National Champ Jackrabbits to celebrate! And have some pizza!
Apizza basically means the crust has char.............that has char.............looks just like Domenics Apizza ( since hanged name/ hands to his daughter) in West Haven.....................gas fired ovens will never have same char as coal
I mean, that pizza looks pretty damn good.
Yes .!!
The pizza looked decent. I'd try it.
I wish you would've described it more. I can tell it had a nice crust. How is the cheese and sauce though?
I love a nice chocolate chip cookie. Yum!

This pizza is the best I've personally ever had. It's soooo good! 🍕😁👍🏻💯

wrong sign, rain and not a ass kissing owner with a "family story" to tell... you automatically loose 0.5 point...
@@juryfilanti At least.
Let’s remember, Steve Scott Portnoy knows nothing about pizza really. He grew up on frozen pizza like bar pies in Massachussets. He thinks all pizza should be crispy when pizza never ever has ever been crispy. Not in Italy, not in NYC. If the pizza is delicious but not crispy, it sucks.
Dave portnoy the type of guy to say he doesn't like Neapolitan but likes apizza which is neapolitan lmao
