As a Vietnamese who hasn't been to Vung Tau for 8 years, I'm so surprised the place has changed a lot and it's so clean - both the outside, kitchen and dining area!
I can't believe how clean all of the shops and the kitchens were! My local fish and chip shop has oil build up that you can count like tree rings for years of service! I will be visiting Vietnam, it's on my bucket list due to your series.
Hello amazing video i like this video keep going, whend i watching your video cook delicious food, It's always fascinating to see how people live in different parts of the world and how they cook and prepare their meals. Thank you i wating for next video.
well done sonny! the shrimp at the end looked AMAZING!!! incredible what variety there is on markets like these. really wish i could experience that just once! LOVE your videos. ive watched. every single one, HUGE fan! love ya! keep the happiness coming!
Sonny, watching from Cyprus in the med sea. You don't just show food & culture you are showing the world to us that cannot afford to, so I t👍👍👍👍hank you.
Welcome to Vung Tau. I'm living here for about 3 years and I absolutely love this city! oh and beside the seafood market, there's some of other unique foods in Vung Tau like Banh Khot, etc.. You should try it!
@@bonefetcherbrimley7740 you don't have to worries about food poisoning cuz they're selling the fresh food here. things still alive when you buy it if it's a fish or crab etc...
welcome you sonny to my hometown!!! vungtau city always provive the best quality of seafoods and dont forget to take a ride around the beach after you eat. enjoy it and thank you so much. you make me miss my hometown so muchhhh.
I absolutely love you videos man❤These help me go through my day with joy and i appreciate you alot for doing these videos❤❤Be happy!!❤❤God bless you❤❤
Why I laughed so much when Sony joking about the coconut milk "fresh from the can" 🤣. When I was 5 years old my mom always making fresh coconut milk....from the coconut. It's a bit long process with a lot of patience. Nowadays my mom not even bother making that anymore, we part of the "fresh from the can" club 😋
I think uve said this before Sunny but what happens when no one wants to take the extras you don't finish? I noticed you guys typically buy quite a bit, do the locals usually have no problem taking the rest or is it boxed up for staff?
Highly recommend you to try "Oc Ken" nuong sot tieu xanh. I had it in Vung Tau and it was super delicious. I'm not into eating snails but I love love it soo much!!! 😋 😊
That is what I'm thinking, he even says at the end that the portion sizes are for 2 people (I think more honestly) I'm sure he shares it with the camera crew to help finish it, no way could he eat all those meals on his own
I honestly don't mind if they use canned stuff. If it cuts down the prep time and cost I am all for it. It really isn't that big of a deal that they are using canned coconut milk (as long as it isn't expired). "Homemade" doesn't mean all ingredients from scratch so I would consider this homemade.
My dad is the same. He is really fast at moving forward when we are at the veggy section, but he suddenly becomes really energetic and check every stand when we get to the seafood part of the market 😂😂
I love seeing you actually hit the target. I know most people in a day wouldn't spend 100 bucks for food. . . but when it comes to a trip I am for sure willing to spend at least that in a day for food. you and top gear have some of the best jobs on the planet as far as I understand.
Interestingly enough eating those small cooked crabs, with the shell on supplies you with a very powerful antioxident named asterexanthin which gives the red orange color to crabs, prawns & lobsters when cooked. Very good for you; so look @ the positive side. As said "the optimist sees the donut while the pesimist sees the hole".
I believe you were right the first time calling the large white cephalopod a squid, before you were told it was a cuttlefish. Squid and cuttlefish are very similar, but squid have a clear cellophane-like bone, as opposed to a cuttlefish which have a large solid elongated soap-stone like minerally bone called a cuttlebone. If you ever owned a pet parakeet or cockatiel you would remember putting a white cuttlebone in the cage for them to chew on to satisfy their mineral needs.
That toadfish is actually quite poisonous! It is not recommended to eat at all but love the video! Thanks for showing us more of what Vietnam has to offer.
As a person coming from humble beginnings and having spent my adult life eating a lot of fine dining, I keep as a principle to never forget my roots. Or as Andrew Zimmern would say: If it looks good, eat it. :)
You get a like. Laughed so hard at the "let me do it for you" reference. Absolutely nailed it.
was so funny
Absolutely snailed it*
Never would have expected that
Same! Lmao
😂😂😂
That "let me do it for you" caught me off guard. I choked to what I'm eating 🤣

I found Vietnam generally pretty clean, much cleaner than bali or Thailand.
That's the first time that I have seen Sonny actually get past $100 in an Asian market.
Because its sea food KEKL
OMG that's big squid and Tiger prawn still alive and so fresh😂absolutely cant be cheap. U shoud visit the market more to update the price 😅
$100 dollars here in the US wont get you far if you want fresh restaurant seafood(especially with shrimps that big).
Wow, seeing my father's hometown brings back memories. Thank you for this episode. Greetings from a Vietnamese, living in the Netherlands.
Hey mede Nederlander!

11:13 aka a horndog, aka a sculpin, look at my thumbnail, I know what I'm looking at, but how do they taste?
Sonny is the type of guy to go to an aquarium, leave early and eat a seafood dinner.

Or his wife is
This dude must be immune to food poisoning
Love this show!!! Seriously a highlight of my week!
"I've come a long way from eating popcorn shrimp at Red Lobster." That's a great line.
The fact that we get free food & travel videos on UA-cam by Sonny is truly a gift. 👏👏👏

I've been to a market similar to this in Manila. It was absolutely insane. Best meal I have ever had.

In your shows you order large portions. What do you do with the leftovers? Especially like in this video?

Yes! That's what I said. It's literally a bone from a cuttle fish

there are multiple types of toadfish, this one is not dangerous
Sonny seems to be the type of guy who would go to a aquarium to pick out which seafood to eat next. 😂
Not gunna lie I went to my local aquarium and I felt bad for thinking about cooking up the octopus I saw there lol
I love fish thank bro for creating this types off video
