Great memory Biz. Song came out in 1969. I was 11 and really into listening to my favourite radio station. This song would come on and my Mom would start dancing and singing along and our dog would bark and dance with her 😃
The Great Neil Diamond. A great lyricist with so many great songs.... Longfellow Serenade, Solitary Man, Girl, Youll be a Woman soon, Play me, Im a Believer, etc.
Some really good studio versions are: Crackin' Rose Solitary Man Kentucky Woman Red Red Wine Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show Thank the Lord for the Nighttime Soolaimon (studio version is a must, with an amazing female vocal solo)
Seen him perform at the ASU Activity Center in 1973. One of the best and engaging entertainers I've seen live. As he sat at the keyboard demonstrating how he writes new songs we all were treated to a song that had yet been released. Unfortunately my memory is fuzzy what song it was. Lol It was also one of the better dates that started out with Dad letting me take his Montego GT (only nine were ever made that year) instead of my work truck. Between that and Neil Diamond's manly love songs The trip home included a detour😉lol And wouldn't you know just as we were ready to get down to it, love by the Dashboard Lights came on the radio😂 Love the reactions and the memories they provoke. Thanks 🤠🏞️🐂
This has been adopted by Red Sox fans as our theme song. Neil even sang it at Fenway during the first game after the Boston marathon bombing. The crowd always sings along.
Biz, if you want to hear the most amazing live performance by Neil, check out "Holly Holy" from his 1972 Hot August Night album from the Greek Theater in L.A. That album was a huge hit, and that song is the highlight of the album, IMHO. 🤘😎
An infectious song that the whole world is singing along with. One of the best singer-songwriters ever and a charismatic performer to boot. Please continue reviewing Neil Diamond songs, he's got plenty of gems to choose from: Holly Holy, Brooklyn Roads, Soolaimon, Stones, Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show, Dry Your Eyes, Beautiful Noise, America, or even more recent songs like Nothing but a Heartache, Hell Yeah, etc.
Neil Diamond was a great performer in person. Back in the day, the TV production of songs was very difficult unless they were performing with a live orchestra. I've only seen him singing while playing a guitar so something was up. I like his song "Forever in Blue jeans."
I got to see him in 2000, such a great concert. It is tragic that Parkinson's has made singing almost impossible for him now. He did do a little remake to this song during the pandemic. I second all the songs listed and will add " Crackling Rosie". Enjoy
LOL!!! The Red Sox theme song. Play it every home game with all the fans singing along. Neil Diamond was a major singer-songwriter and wrote a lot of songs for other bands, as well as hfor himself. The Monkees' song, "I'm A Believe" was his.
The Sullivan Show was must-see TV, Biz. In the '60s, oftentimes we would get our first look at what a performer looked like from the Sullivan Show. Neil Diamond is a musical treasure, writing hits for other artists as well as his own. I have no doubt, Biz that you would love "Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show" (one of his most popular numbers). The song is fire. The best video version is from a '71 BBC concert, best audio version from the 1970 live album "Gold". Another great tune is "Holly Holy", also available from both sources. The live versions of these two songs surpass the studio recordings.
Hey Biz. Check out his BBC performance where he does Brother Love’s Traveling Salvation Show and Soolaimon. He plays acoustic guitar and gives a short monologue with each song. He is way more dynamic in the BBC show.
He made a movie called "The Jazz Singer." It's about his real life experiences, it is embellished but it is very good. I saw him in concert when I was 19, he was sooooooooo sexy it was ridiculous.
Absolutely Jazz Singer is NOT about him. It's a remake of a fictional story he started in the movie. Watch Solitary Man. That's a documentary on Diamond.
I personally can not stand this song lol. Every damn wedding or reunion this song is played and it just triggers some Manchurian Candidate type thing into 99.99% of white people... 🤣

You should do this tune at one of his concerts where the crowd is singing along. It's awesome as hell!

GREETINGS EARTH MAN: Neil Diamond has done an enormous amount of work. This song is sung at U. of Penn games.
I love Neil. Ever since I was a kid. Cherry Cherry was always a favorite.
I’m one of the lucky ones who got to see him in concert!
My favorite Neil Diamond song is "Solitary Man."
SWEET Caroline can make a WHOLE BALPARK SING ALONG...WITHOUT MISSING A BEAT!!!!
Neil is so smooth. Love him much more as an adult than when I was a teenager.
You really are getting it my friend. Proud of you
Thank you

the music made from 1955-1995 will live forever.
Nice reaction!
Thank you

This song is one that gets sung in flash mobs or all the big gang on a subway or like that. Easy to sing. Everyone knows it.
Listen to “I’ve been this way before” live 1976
It's long, but "Johnathon Livingston Seagull " is a Neil Diamond masterpiece.
☮️💙💙💙🔥😎
"Play Me" and "Cherry" would be good to check out

7th inning stretch at Fenway 😊
Brother Love’s Travelling Salvation Show
Played at every Red Sox game.

Ed loved the young folks. He couldn't say enough good about the Beatles and Elvis
This Sweet Caroline was a short version
