I’m still curious why MBTA can’t just use a cab car to get off of the cape, I saw them using a cab car twice, and one of those times it was a regular consist with one locomotive. The other time is included 2 locomotives on one end.
They use two just in case something happens with one, the second can still control and get the train to its destination. If they become power short they will use a cab car

I think they use two engines because they want railfans to record it to get attention
