  • Mike Clark is one of the most respected jazz, funk, and fusion drummers of the 20th century with his own unique style and approach to the kit. Rob Hart joins me back on the podcast to share recordings of a lesson he took with Mike in 1992 which grew into a 30+ year friendship. We go through 8 clips that were recorded in a San Francisco Apartment with a mix of Mike Clark and Rob Hart playing which makes this a very fun and interesting episode!

    Mike is incredible.
When I was at MI around '99 Fred Dinkins invited Mike to come in and hang out during this sort of voluntary class that Fred would hold... about 10 of us sat in a room with Mike for like 3 hours.
He was the absolute coolest ... we talked about everything from tuning drums to how to conduct yourself professionally and everything in between.
He was not in a rush whatsoever and really just hung out and gave us all the time we wanted.
Told us some stories about Tony and Elvin etc.
    Love Mike!

Mike is a great guy - no pretenses, friendly. Met him while attending one of the Kosa drum camps a few years ago. He talked with me kindly, never condescending.
. I even remember we discussed our current diets!
