I have my own private burnout pad.
I have been to Summernats 3 times
Have made the Burnout Masters twice (top 30 in Australia)
I'm paralysed from the waist down and drive my car with hand controls.
We Aussies love burnouts
Much respect 💪and that’s badass having your own burnout pad! Thanks for being here
Good on ya mate 👍
bro i think i remember seeing you at summernats a few years back, your and inspiration, keep at it mate.
we love burnouts but hate tires lol
Bloody legend
Good ole flame throwin KRANKY 👍
Legend says it was Kranky and Lynchy that really got Hoonigans donut yard shut down for good.
I was there for krankys burnout, it was insane
Bandag bullet
Yea mate
Remember seeing the footage of the bushes going up the first time, that's when I learned about meth injection
To score high in Aussie burnouts you MUST have instant smoke, lots of smoke, continuous smoke have good driving skills, not touch a wall, not catch on fire.
pretty sure you gotta blow the tires in under a minute also
@@ripdoff8549 you do have to blow the tyres but not really in under 1 minute. At the Summernats you get 1 minute to qualify and in the finals you get 3 minutes or they wave you off the pad.
@@FlatBrokeAdventures And car must drive off the Pad under its own power
Must drive off pad though.
The ute is called a one tonner car before it was a ford falcon
Summernats is Australias biggest car festival start of the year and its our grand final
'Purple Haze' is a Ford XA Falcon (Hardtop?). My first car was a XA wagon (room for sleeping at the beach).
Mad Max Interceptor was based on a Falcon XA/XB GT Coupe.
Yeah, hard top/coupe
@@PetermusPrime GS
@@HJZ75driver GT... had the fender vents. The GS doesn't come with those vents.
My first two cars were XA Coupes. My third and current car is a Landau. I've always wanted a wagon too.
You need to see Lynchy before you can claim to have seen a decent Australian burnout.
That's a little unfair mate. Plenty of good burnouts, but if you're looking for the supreme burnout...
Or war bird
@@BiffTech05 You are correct. I didn't choose my words very carefully. My apologies.
Lynchy is a wild man that's for sure.
3:20 The car is an Australian Ford Falcon XA Coupe, around 1972. Yes, we LOVE our burnouts..it's like a rite of passage for our younger drivers. As essential to know as reverse parking.. hehehe
So burnouts are usually judged by or around these criteria:
1. Instant smoke with the entrant proceeding in a straight line for the first 15 meters
2. Continuity of smoke
3. Amount of smoke
4. Driving technique including special turns and the capability to avoid curbs/barriers
5. Blowing a tyre (only one tyre necessary to protect the tracks surface from damage)
6. Drive off the track and the end of their skid
Yep, ive seen some Yankee burnout comps (thanks to Cleetus) but they are really lacking because of no real rules or judging criteria. Like it does my head in when they loose power, stop and the start again.. no no, you stop your out.
@@Grant82gc heeeelll yeah brother! Hopefully he can kick start a good burn out comp ring there, top tier channel that one love his work

The Yellow Ute is a Holden One Tonner. HQ/HZ not sure they get front end swapped all the time with other models/trims and also not my strongest subject.
We would still call it a Ute, but it is a "Tray-back Ute". A "Style side" has the body panels. Tray backs are very popular in Aus with people who actually use a Ute for work. If it is the bosses car or the City runabout, then they are mostly Style sides.
It's a one tonner not a ute
@@hodaka1000 yes, I called it a One Tonner, but most Australians would say Ute. A Proton Jumbuck is a Ute, and so is a Ford Ranger.
@@Fishallies
It's a one tonner I don't know anybody here who knows what they're talking about who'd call it a ute

Yes i have been to several of these events mainly Summernats down in Canberra , Judging works by a points system normally 60 sec run time they judge on Driver control tip in , Instant and constant smoke not allowed to stop have to keep moving , Engine revs and throttle control , pad usage and of course need to blow both tyres !
Oh yeah having a mullet helps too 😂✌️👍👌
Go the mullet
React to America vs Australia burnouts… The GOAT Lynchy came over there and embarrassed everyone 😂👍👌 STRAYA 😤
Warbird might have that title now. Freedom factory exposed it well
The car with the purple smoke is the Ford Falcon 1972-73.
It's the car thats used to make the Mad Max/Road Warrior car.
I camped for a week at Summernats 4 many years ago, it's still the same kick ass event every year. I still flick through the photos and remember the 5 days of mayhem in the mate compound. The drive from Brisbane to and from. Captain cusso and Victor Bray's cars were there doing burnouts. Best bloody week of me life. And I'm an old bastard now.
I camped out there in 95. Best week ever 👍
When he's watching the falcon with the purple tyres, the burnout smoke lights up his face and whole room purple. It's like the burnout lives on, bouncing around the world.
I have been to 18 burnout comps and entered into 5 of them myself in my fully original Ford Falcon XB Coupe. It's a beast that cops pull over all the time just to have a look at & take pictures of.
Great to see your reactions to things here in Aus that we grew up with n find “the norm”
Keep searching.
Back decades ago we had a rally called The Repco Reliability Rally, cars from the showroom floor driven off-road across Australia, many top racing drivers got involved including The Legend, Peter Brock.
The event no longer exists, but with Bathurst days of old, was a big seller for everyday vehicles to everyday Aussies.
Burnout comps in Oz have come a long way since the early days. I remember standing in 40 degree C heat in the car park at the Burswood Dome in the early days of Motorvation watching my first one. Also got to see the Bandag Bullet in action, you wanna check that out, it's a Burnout Truck. Saw a few at Ravenswood Drags before it closed and now the Motorplex. Us Aussies do like a good burnout but I think we have to acknowledge our Kiwi neighbours who also enjoy doing the big skids too.
Power skids are a different contest again great to watch,,, The car you were asking about was XA falcon coupe,, The hardtop ✊
Thankyou. Just Thankyou. A yankee appreciating what we do is thankful and impressive!!!
Thank you too!
Driving Lessons with Lynchy. Lynchy is a national treasure, he came to New Zealand in 2017, top bloke too. Gary Myers UBC 2011 Is a personal favorite. The purple smoke is Gary Myers XB Falcon coupe, NA stroked Cleveland
Close with Gary's Falcon. It's an XA.
Summernats, springnats absolutely amazing times. Love the smell this gives me shivers 🥰🥰🥰 , being stuck in a garage when someone does a shedbake can be a tad over powering.
The purple car is a Ford Falcon XA hardtop.
There’s a motoplex that has drags and burnouts events on every Wednesday and the weekends. It’s only 5 minutes away from me so even if I don’t go I can still hear the cars from my house. You can even enter your own stock or purpose built cars.
Sydney dragway?
@@christormay257 nah man Perth
@@jaynus9429 oh right, Sydney dragway does Wednesday night race for real and burnouts too.
i was there for that top fuel burnout and was close to the fence. the sound went straight through u and shook the ground
That's the best part about burnouts after the smoke and the sound. You legit FEEL it.
When you said don’t breath in a lot of it, mate you gotta. It’s the best part of burnouts
The yellow one around 3:30 in the video is a Holden one tonner
Lynchy is a good watch, massive tip ins
Hi Ian,
That first clip with KRANKY burning out the bushes was at the 2014 Kandos Street Machine weekend.
It is basically a two day, sun up and practically till sun down BURNOUT fest.
Check it out,
Kandos Street Machine.!!
I went to Summernats 88, 89 and 90 when they didn't have the restrictions they do now. Was freaking awesome. And I've still got a copy of the video from 89 or 90. Those were the days my friend.
HI Australia guy hear. Burn outs are judged on consistent smoke. Use of burn out pad. Must last 1 minute. Down under the grand final for burn outs is summer nats Canberra Australia January each year. The biggest car festival down under. Farm truck and azn have been. And cleetus . The yellow ute is a holden 1 tonner for the late 1970.s
Depends on the comp, different burnout comps require different lengths, some r 90 seconds or longer
Lol this is a usual night out with the boys out on the back roads no scores just goin out to pop sets
mate the tip-in on some of these are just amazing
Lovin the fact the last 2 videos you have said straya 🤣🤣🤣 sydney motorsports park is just about 30 mins up the road from me, went to see the V8 Supercars there a couple years ago, it was awesome, on a Friday you can get to walk behind the pitts so drivers are just walking around, you can get up close to the cars and team trucks too , it’s a great day. Also went there 2 summers ago for the drag racing as they had too fuel there that time. My first experience with the drag strip it was awesome 👏. Supposed to be going to the V8s again this year but not sure with all the rona around right now, we are in lockdown again in Sydney 😩
True true, Sydney is fun but the last 2 were in Canberra at Summernats. Good times, Good times.
3:36 That's not a ute. That's a one-tonner. One-tonner owners are usually pretty prideful of their cars, especially with more classic ones like the one in this video. The differences between a Ute and a one-tonner is a ute will have it's bed built into the body of the car, whereas a One-Tonner will have a tray added onto the frame, either aluminum or steel.
Anyone remember the old Bridgestone ad, "Real men smoke Eagers".
Gary Myers Had a sticker on his mustang back in the 90"s saying real men smoke Bridgestone.
Chris Christou in the Blue XY GT (HO 775)
Cleetus McFarland is now putting on proper burnout comps in the states. Not the same level of cars yet but getting there and the car with the purple smoke and paint is a Ford Falcon XB
XA Falcon. Owned and driven by Gary Myers.
@@burniezarsoff4118 Sorry my mistake, I sometimes get them mixed up. Still my favourite shape of Falcon. Just wish I could afford one now.
The yellow flatbed ute was a Holden 1tonner. Still in big demand. Classic Aussie machine.
The Summernats is the finals of the burnout masters competition each year, that's where you see the best burnouts for 4 days straight. Been going for 20+ years.
Not the same as it was 20 years ago but!!!
I've judged some burnout comps in Darwin and Alice Springs. It usually goes off instant smoke, constant smoke, volume of smoke, use of the pad, popping both tyres etc. And deductions for wall hits, reversing, stopping etc
Second car gold Holden statesman - the way that was thrown around. Impressive. That’s a huge car over here.
Dude... Your channel is all up in my algorithm. I cant stop! lol
Purple haze @2:36 is a Ford XA Falcon Coupe. My first two cars were XA Coupes, 351 and 302.
It’s really slippery out on the skid box/ pan. Cletus over in the States also loves Summernats and has incorporated to Florida.
Surprised me so few comments about Cletus, especially since he had Warbird for so long, I think he still has the yellow Camaro though.
@@peteanderson2533 yeah I think he has it still.
One thing that the yanks and the aussies in common we love muscle cars 💪
the burnouts points normally is for smoke, useage of the pad, tyres pop, and driving the car off the pad
Consistent rpm, staying of the rev limiter, and not tapping the wall, using the whole pad and minimal fire
"Smoke tires not drugs" hell yeah brother
Highwaymax makes our coloured smoke tyres . Burnouts judged on amount of smoke - constant smoke - driver ability - popping both tyres - must be a minute minimum & points lost for fire & touching the wall . 🤙🏼 Gday from Australia brother 🤟🏼🤟🏼🤙🏼🍺
The purple smoking one was an 1970 Ford XA hardtop. It looks similar to the Ford Torino in the US of the same year but completely designed in Australia. Australian actor Eric Bana has a XB hardtop he made a documentary called love the beast years ago. The mad max movie used one but there getting hard to come by
Summernats highlights are what you want to watch, Not only because of the smoke but the car control and how they negotiate a car at full rip on such a small pad is an art form, And within the burnout scene i recommend you watch some videos of a car called LYNCHY. i pretty mild ls3 toyota corolla but the man in the drivers seat wheels that car like no other
Burnout comp rules :- Don't lift , maximum smoke and pop those tyres
And DONT TOUCH THE WALL
Purple smoke was 1972 XA Ford Falcon GT hardtop. The model before the XB Mad Max Road Warrior Interceptor
Do one on Summernats. One of the biggest car festivals in Australia. And pretty sure that’s where that top fueler was. The burnout masters in always the cherry on top on the final day
Blow tyres, smoke, tip in and style pretty much that. Been to them since I was 3 living where Summernats is held now running in the Comp with a 800hp barra xr6 turbo
Summernats judges on several thing, length of time, sustained noise, 360s, did they shred both tyres. The purple smoke was i think an XC Ford Falcon GT
The beast you liked is a 1972/73 ford falcon XA coupe. My favourite.
XA's are easily distinguished by the front indicators cut into the front of the fenders and the rear taillights are tilted. XB/XC front indicators are in the grill from memory and taillights are flat.
Hey man. You mate, you should enjoy SUMMERNAT'S / Summer Nat's (summer national's}), national rev head Mecca from the national Capital, Canberra. Held about new years day but uncertain of having one at the start of next year because of covid.
Check out an Americans pilgrimage to summer nat's, Cletus McFarland. That's not the name of the video because there is a bunch of them, it's the name of the presenter and channel.
Mate! l was going to suggest a squiz at the Summer Nats but it looks like you've already found it/ recommended to it. Sweet! Welcome to the annual Hoon Gathering!
The car making purple smoke is a Ford XA Falcon Coupe. There is a sedan version of this at the start of Mad Max and Max's black coupe is the same body but the next model XB
The coupe with purple smoke is an Ford XA falcon GT coupe circa 73....the "madmax" car. Most bad ass car we ever made in my opinion, the previous models were based on the American Ford Falcon but the coupe was Ford Australia's first independant design. Available with a 302 Windsor or a 351 Cleveland
Yeah, Summernats has a whole competition dedicated to just burnouts, and is probably the main highlight of the event.
Let's not ever forget guys like Gary Myers & Chris Christou taking things to the next level all those years ago 🇦🇺
Most comps scoring structure is
*Instant smoke
*constant smoke
*pad use (driving as much as the track)
*driver control
*points for each popped tyre
*drive off the pad unassisted

Summernats Burnout's Competition, Victoria, Australia. One minute in the block, must blow both tires & be able to drive away under your own power, points out of 100, points deducted due to tire or ties not being blown, due to any damage caused by hitting walls, due to car on fire, due to not being able to drive out of the burnout block afterwards, tires need to both blow by one minute, not before, not after. No one has won with 100 points. Points given 50/50 due to tire smoke duration continuous & amount of the burnout pad utilized.
