Brave woman. Thank you for standing up and bringing light again to the horror that is happening in Gaza. Regardless of reasons why, politics, religion, the killing of over 30,000 Palestinians and the daily struggle they face there is not ok and should not be accepted.
A very articulate brilliant Senator who will be as effective as an Independent for her constituents genuine concerns. Indigenous Palestinians Self Determination is as important as here for Indigenous Aborigines FNP Self Determination.
Sorry but that's a silly comparison: indigenous issues are just that - 'indigenous' to Australia and our political systems' responsibility - but how can grandstanding in the senate in Australia do anything at all to 'help' the terrible situation way across the world in Gaza and the West Bank? Big gesture - no effect. It's all about the individual 'big gesture' today.
@@paulaa1175 Int Law = ICJ rulings and now ICC - most Australians incite Genocide - on Indigenous Palestinians as much Indigenous Aborigines here. I am not Muslim but I support Fatima! There is saying "If you are not interested in politics, then politics will be interested in you!" This is related to Australians as they have been sleeping like koalas...😅
I believe that unfortunately the senator would have been better staying in the Labour Party and gradually working to build the sort of changes she says she is committed to from inside the large powerful existing machinery. She was voted in to represent WA and the Labor party and is paid her salary by the taxpayers - and now she decides individually to follow her own path. Perhaps she should resign from the senate.
Absolutely the principled choice to make, party line is flawed, compromised and for some reason in support of genocide… I guess you disagree with the International court of justice as well?
@@GoldenJet-bahaa She received a grand total of 1681 first preference votes - 0.01% of the vote in WA. She is only in the senate because she was 3rd place in the Labour list and Labour just got enough for a third senate seat. Proportional representation in the senate - remember? Her 'electorate' is WA - the state. Look up how the senate works in Australian politics. So ask yourself who is she representing now? 1681 people? A small section of the WA Labour Party? (very small)

Absolute legend - most articulate and principled person we have in Canberra? Shows that Labor has lost its way... LNP off with the fairies... Ideally the Teals will add offer her an olive branch and some shekels for re-election.
I don’t see this woman support WA or diversity. She only supports her kind of diversity. Her resignation is good for Labour and Australian politics overall.
@@georgeroumeliotis2239 she wasn’t elected. She was gifted this seat with a trust to serve the party and the country. Why doesn’t she represent Australians. Plenty of homeless and disadvantaged that need help. But she is more interested in People in another country. Join the UN if you want to do that. And not one comment on the Hostages. Show the same energy on getting them released. She is only looking out for Her own kind. Selfish. Vote her out.
"It was calculated" is the sort of accusation only a party machine man would concoct, applying his own twisted mentality

Self inflicted narcissist victim manipulation.
Senator Payman represents a large body of Australians who are disenfranchised by both Labor and LNP. aS As a Senator its her right to vote her way.
What a brave young woman she is. I am glad she has gone with her moral views and not just agreed with her party.
BRAVO 👍 BRAVE HEART ❤️

Bravo Fatima, shame on Labor.
Whether or not we agree with her stance, it is refreshing to see an elected politician operate from conscience rather than to toe the party line.
bravo Senator Payman
I think she is a better leader than our Prime Minister. What a shame, our Prime Minister is not a leadership material.
Thanks Fatima we love you.
Why didn't she run as an independent? Because she knew she could only get into parliament by joining Labour. She should be thrown out of parliament.
her primary votes was merely 1681. she could never win on that figure.
It was 2022 election promise of Labor to recognise Palestine statehood. They betrayed her.
has senator payman crossed the floor or voted against the government on any other issue ?
How she feels is very important to herself indeed.
I like Fatima's Australian accent!
Activists not interested in Australia and its people should not be in parliament.
LMAO, the policies and actions of the Australian government aren't about Australia (brain dead much).
Her husband's Jacob Stokes, a Labor staffer who ran her senate campaign.
She'll more than likely, still get her $233,000 yearly salary.

We do!
People with brains care about the policies and actions of our government. Thanks for being upfront with your ignorance.

I was so pleased when she said that she wished that Hamas would release the hostages!!
She should give back the seat to labour. But she wouldn’t. Because It’s an easy job to get paid 230000 without affiliating to a major party.
