Great to see a "baby" 747 again.! ( The 747 SP). I usually don't like watching the landings but watching that Avensa 737 and American DC-10 flare and execute those smooth touchdowns, was Perfect !!🥰
The Golden-Golden Days of Aviation at KMIA, with variety of aircraft fleets, commercial airliners and cargo airliners. Thank you so-so much for this post Just Planes and Runway Action, keep them coming. I would love to see a variety posts of KMIA between 1990 and 1996 in the very near-near future. Keep them coming!!!!!!!
Whoa, seeing these older liveries really takes me back, thank you for uploading this its not everyday you can get plane spotting from this time period.
Terrific footage, many thanks for posting! I watch the MIA webcam regularly, and it's shocking how many airlines and airplane types have now vanished from the MIA scene. In 2020, DC8 and B727 freighters only show up once in a blue moon. Great to see that United B747SP at 22:15, though!
May not be the same registration but this UA747SP back then flew ORD-MIA-GRU, I was based in Miami then and took that flight regularly, my seat was always J8, now I feel like crying!
@Travel Girl I was a kid/teenager in the 80/90s and sitting in the smoking area while trying to watch a movie in a screen several foots away wasn't glamorous at all. Food was better, I'll give you that.
Back when the 747 was twice the size of any other plane; before the 777, A330/A340, and long before the A380, 787, and A350. Back when there were still many trijets flying about. Back when so many planes still had low-bypass engines. Back when Concord still flew. And... back when you could still go up to an airport gate to watch planes without having to go through security first.
@@visax8550 I know, my parents plane spotted together all the time at Newark and O’Hare long before I was born. They miss the days before 9/11 and so do I (even though I wasn’t alive), things certainly weren’t perfect but it just seemed more peaceful then…
Seeing that American Airlines A300 Airbus painted in gray landing at 1.14mins in the video brought back memories of my first ever airplane ride on one of them.
Air Jamaica A300 was gorgeous, why not continue to film the take off but you filmed more boring stuff longer like USAir 737-400?? Argentinas old livery was another beauty!
That landing shot of the American A300-600 on Runway 12 was really cool. Particularly how much wingflex it had at final approach speed. Very cool wing. This must have been filmed from an airport view balcony at the Hilton hotel. Used to stay there all the time, they had a beautiful Japanese fish pond in the lobby.
Look at that parade of old 707 and DC-8 freighters from thr Caribbean and Central/South America.. I can't help wondering what sort of cargoes there might have been on them 🤔
Iberia actually operated a focus city out of Miami to various Spanish islands and South American destinations. I believe most of the passengers transferred from the 747’s arriving from Spain, but I’m pretty sure they were permitted to carry originating passengers from Miami. Aeroflot had a similar operation in Miami with flights to Deep South America interchanging with Russia flights...as did Air France with routes to the French Carribean...Similar to what Northwest used to do in Tokyo. The arrival of smaller long range jetliners rendered the transit hubs unnecessary.
In this video you see DC-8 and 707 freighters (long gone) while the 727's are hauling passengers and some cargo have now come and gone as freighters :( Meanwhile you still see some A300's still flying for UPS and Fedex.
Thankfully the UPS A300s will be around for at least another 15-20 years. They got a handful of the last ones to come off the assembly line at Toulouse back in 2007. Fedex also got quite a few that last year as well. Big reason why they bought a bunch of 767s was they couldn't order more A306Fs. Amazing airplane, 300,000lbs+ and goes in and out of BUR and SNA's tiny runways like nothing. I do miss the Fedex A310s and UPS DC-8-72Fs though. The re-engined DC-8s sounded fantastic. Tampa Cargo used to fly them all the time into MIA.
In 1993 I went to Madrid on Iberia Boeing 747 like the one on the video so I’m doubtful if that were my flight on the same day Just Plane filmed its LoL 😂. It’s was on the summer 1993 on either July or August

17:15 what a wonderful appearance of that B747-200B of AR (aerolineas argentinas) LV-MLR

Brings back a lot of great memories with my grandfather, use to take me all the time to go watch the airplanes good times....
When aviation was real. Miss it. Bought one of your hats, looks and fits great. Thank you

Nice trip down memory lane! Love those 727's, L1011's, 747-200's and the 747SP...the ROAR and whine of those engines is great
0:50 that day of 1993 had the McDonnell Douglas dc 10 I missed old days
God I loved that NW livery!

This video made me file a noise complaint. Thank you, I miss these days at airports.
2:05 That paint scheme was ahead of its time.
The good ol days of Aviation :(
Yes and no. Old birds were beautiful, but flying is much safer today.

@@butteriest1634 Yes, especially the 757 and 767.

@@brutaladr641 well it’s a 767 of an airline that has a place in my heart... as my avatar clearly shows.
@@400collector ya I see it in the tail 😀 lol
Transbrasil, Varig, Vasp, even Brasil had great airlines. Shame none survived the times...
Beautiful Arrow Air DC-8 Series 63😍😍😍😍
LTU Tri-Star was simply beautiful.
Absolutely FANTASTIC!
miss these old classic birdies!
I'll take 1993 again over 2020 😜
yes please!
Can I?
Anything is better that 2020 at this point even 1941
I was enjoyed seeing these oldies❤.
One of the best classic videos I've ever seen.
Seeing that American Airlines A300 Airbus painted in gray landing at 1.14mins in the video brought back memories of my first ever airplane ride on one of them.
All of these aircraft are out in the desert now! I miss those days.
B747 the most beautiful plane...😍

It is amazing watching this, I wasn't even born when this was recorded.
Serious heavy metal the days at cock roach corner will always be fondly remembered this bought a lot of happy memories
2:52 carnival had their own airlines?!?
Looks to be a 737-100 as well.

Amazing plane spotting 🛬🛫

that's Iberia
I remembered when Iberia had a Miami base for flight attendants…good memories 🥰🌈🇵🇷….I am a Northwest flight attendant and remember MY RED TAIL🥰🥰🥰

Why is there an Iberia dc9 at MIA?
17:04 Jumbo de Aerolineas Argentinas!!!
Great!
Missing you Varig
Wow I forgot how long the DC-8 -60 series were!
Tempos Bons Meus Parabéns
This is so underrated

All the aircraft you see today all look the exact same compared to those days!
Like tubes of toothpaste.
Arrow arlines: 14:15 Boeing 707 BEAUTIFUL PLANE
That's a Douglas DC-8 lol, looks like a -63
super video
Iberia's very convenient hub right at the start there: 747 pulls into the gate right next to the connecting DC-9
Who miss the American Airlines McDonnell Douglas DC-10-30 :(
It’s so interesting to watch planes that were made before my time
What's an Iberia DC-9 doing in Miami?
@Ben Wollman they used to fly to Central America.
ah
the old days back ago for former fleets of airliners and former airliners serving the area
Yeah

Just Planes, Do you have any film of Atlanta airport 1992, 93, or 94?
Hi
Are you a crew mate
It used to be Varig.
maaann that 747-sp
Is it my imagination or is that an Iberia F-50 next to the Iberia 747 that's just landed at the very beginning of this vid?
It's a DC-9, I think; Iberia had a hub there serving South America connecting with flights from Europe
The DC-9 is ETOPS ready??
lol Carnival had an airline?
Yes they sure did for a short time primarily to ferry cruise passengers between ports
Later they became the revived Pan Am around 1997, and iirc they still used Carnival as their callsign
Dc-9 iberia in miami ? Wtf ?
