Sidious is only interested in being the most powerful and influent person in the universe. He will turn jedi to the dak side if he can benefit from it, like when he made anakin his puppet. With Yoda he would just manage to get a new powerful enemy

I say Lucasfilm should reboot Star Wars Infinities, but in animated straight to streaming service movie form, instead of comics. Yoda going dark side at some point and becoming a Sith would be a great idea for one of them. Just think-the Grand Master of the Jedi Order secretly a Sith Lord while his Apprentice, Palpatine, is Supreme Chancellor. Could be interesting. Another that would be awesome is a what if Vader survived ROTJ movie.

@Wesley Richardson yoda has had almost 900 years of Anger building up in him i believe yoda would surpass sidious. SIDIOUS MAY HAVE been in the darkside his entire life but yoda has had longer life and study the force(light & dark) then sidious has
@Amy Showers actually Yoda would also be more dangerous for his enemies simply as a Grey Jedi, so not necessarily only on the dark side of the force. Because as a Grey Jedi he would not be inherently bound to the Jedi code all the time and he would be able to use the skills of the dark side moderately alongside the ones of the Light side (I agree it's not really clear Grey Jedis are still canon or not tho:P)
@Wesley Richardson what triplex is say yoda was was about 900 years old when the Jedi fail so when you take into account the train he has been thought and just how close to the force his is and with everthing he knows if he went full dark side with everthing he knows and with being so close to the force he would be way more powerfully then sidious who does not have the life time of training and know as much as yoda that's why sidious is no mach for him if he went full dark side
@Wesley Richardson were you not listening to the video? The brief moment Yoda allowed himself to feel the dark side, his raw power *eclipsed* that of Sidious, as recognized by Dooku. Furthermore the only real difference in training between Jedi and Sith is the very specific and mutually exclusive abilities they tap into and their philosophies, lightsaber to lightsaber or telekinesis to telekinesis they're pretty much the same.

If I recall correctly(forgive me if I've forgotten the specifics as its been over 10 years since I read this novel) Yoda doesn't let the dark side flow through him out of 'curiousity' but more as a lesson of Dooku's ignorance... We best not forget that Yoda has existed for near a millennia, and in the story he implies that Dooku is a fool to think Yoda hasn't felt the touch of the dark side...
In those thousand years he's experienced more loss then almost anyone could ever bear, seen more horrors then any eyes could handle in even a single lifetime. When he embraces the dark side for that moment, his transformation is not that of someone who'd never turned but infact resembles something more of a re-awakening of a creature that has existed but not for a very long time. This part of the story implies a lot and leaves the reader to form their own experience and this was mine.
I think from a story standpoint it makes alot of sense as to why Yoda is SOOO knowledgable but more-so so assured in his convictions to the lightside. He understands the light and dark side in ways that only come from first hand experience, especially living in a age where the Sith are believed to have been destroyed. I believe young Yoda likely turned and returned to the light after learning what he needed.
Probably irrelevant but this does sound like the most likely case and it actually fits in well with cannon because of the episode where Yoda goes to train to be a force ghosts. There is a scene where he fights his dark side and he acknowledges it like if he’s been down that road before

Theory: Yoda never let the Dark Side into himself. He just reflected Dooku's darkness - and fear of it - back at him, showing him a vision of what he feared a dark Yoda could be.
Yoda has demonstrated in the past that he's not above lying and decieving people to achieve his own ends. He is not pure "good" in that sense. He is pure *LIGHT* which is a very different thing. He's even more willing to let another being's own deception turn against them, and has demonstrated multiple abilities which have allowed him to redirect the powers of Sith back on themselves. It makes sense that this would be no different. And this sequence in the novel being shown from Dooku's perspective, and not from Yoda's, makes this theory make even more sense - they can't show Yoda's perspective, because it would spoil the trick. Dooku thinks he is showing Yoda what the dark side has to offer. What happens is that Yoda shakes Dooku's faith in the dark side by showing him how horrifying it can truly be.

Yoda's turning to the Dark Side was not a moment of curiosity. That is an interpretation. As this is my favorite book, and that my favorite moment as well. I believe he did it to prove a point. And if Yoda had turned completely and stayed as such, well Dooku said it perfectly. The Galaxy could not comprehend the evil that would be done with a Sith Lord like Yoda, Sidious would be ANNIHILATED.
So yes, Yoda didnt turn dark out of weakness or curiosity, he turned to prove a point. Because he was able to return very easily to the light. I also like the Vjun Fox's reaction to Yoda and Yoda hissing back at it.
This is how I interpreted the book as well. (I have read it about 3 times). He is the strongest jedi. Its not like he was curious and allowed himself to feel what it would be like. He has faced his "dark side" before and fought it off. He just showed no one would be left alive If he was in power
I agree with this. The assumption that it was "curiosity" or "weakness" implies that he doesn't know what will happen. He KNOWS that he can subject himself to the Dark, prove his point, and just as easily return to the light. He never would have done it if there was any chance that he would be lost or overtaken.

We need a non-canon animated series titled "STAR WARS: Multiverse" Where each episode is set in another continuity telling stories of characters that play out differently from the canon timeline. It'd be an awesome way for fans to release their own stories without breaking the lore.

Yoda would not be more powerful as a dark side user, the two sides of the force are eqaul. As Yoda himself said, the dark side is not more powerful, just easier to use.

Truth !!!... The most dangerous evil understands what it means to be good or believes it is good and yet chooses evil nonetheless. An evil Yoda, could either manipulate light and dark forces or would understand fully how either works, making him an extremely dangerous opponent.

This is why I always believed Mace Windu to be the potentially greatest Jedi:
Windu was as close to balance as it gets.
Windu could embrace both light and dark .. without becoming a slave to either.
We see here that Yoda walked a similar path, but the pull to the dark was too great for Yoda.
Windu could walk both sides and experience the sensation of of both order and chaos while still remaining loyal to his own principles.
IMO, that is the epitome of balance and the path to perception.
No he is not. Greatest Jedi are pure lightsiders. Windu utilized darkness in him because it fits him, he would never be able to excel otherwise. Embracing both light and dark side is not balance. And Windu's style does not embrace both, in his mind he is a Jedi but during fight he simply uses dark side with restraint.
I agree, imo balance is constantly spoken about by the jedi but it was shown that the jedi were blind, arrogant sometimes had no real perception of what that real balance meant. I don't think that this term is that hard to truly understand, you can't have light without shadows or vise versa. No jedi was ever able to completely quell the fear of the dark side within themselves. Only mace could by recognizing it was there and harnessing in his own way to control himself through discipline. I personally think that maybe most getting didn't have this level of discipline but simply turning a blind eye from the dark side is what lead to there downfall.

@The Man With No Name No one argues that Yoda was thee greatest Jedi of his time .. but even Yoda could not see the Sith threat growing.
However, even Yoda believed that Windu was the chosen one.
And if we are to really take a look at it, Windu defeated Palpatine by himself .. while Yoda lost to Palpatine when it mattered most.
Also, keep in mind that Yoda lived over 800 years. No human lives that long. That's about 10 lifetimes for the average Jedi.
So its no wonder that Yoda would be amazing simply because his species lives longer than humans. More time equals more experience. More experience affords more chances for mastery.
I wouldn't ever argue that Windu was wiser or more experienced than Yoda.
That said, Windu was one of the only Jedi to ever rival Yoda in saber skills, as well as being one of the greatest force enhancement users in history. It was Windu that Yoda and the council chose when Yoda stepped down as the head of the Jedi Council.
In his short lifetime, Windu has matched Yoda, who had lived over 10 times Windu's own span, and had the confidence of both the Jedi council and Yoda himself as the head of the entire order.
Only Luke's feats surpass Windu's .. and even then Luke had the benefit of ghost mentors that Windu did not.

Palpatine could snapped his neck and ended it in a instant, which if Palpatine had the characteristics of Vader he would have. Palpatine thrives of death, feat and especially pain, he draws his strength from these things. Vader is just insanely powerful and is overconfident, he less frequently utilizes these things to empower himself(lets also awknowledge that Vader is the only canon Sith Luke has a example of what a Sith is up til this point(other then maybe Mara Jade if we consider her canon))
If Luke died the Galaxy was doomed, throwing away his saber literally put everything he'd worked to achieve at risk, all because 'I'm a Jedi'. He did it to stand up to Palpatine symbolically but failed to see the real world consequences if his actions out of some kind of self-righteous conviction
@@zurcareV how is the galaxy doomed if luke dies here ? the death star still explodes and the empire is beaten, then it's only speculations as for what happens to the force users and jedi traditions in the galaxy. Luke turning to the dark side (killing vader and trying to overpower palpatine himself) would be the most negative outcome, could even end up with palpatine surviving and escaping the death star.

I think if Yoda ever embraced the dark side of the force he would; be consumed by it fully. Embedded within in and embraced by it. I believe that it would flow through his veins so much so that he embodied it. Relinquishing it and drawing it in from all corners of the universe.
Realizing upon this that the dark side of the force was already there within him, within everyone and everything then disbanding it from his mind body and soul whilst simultaneously defeating all evil availed as a result of his actions.
Not balancing the galaxy, it was never his duty but balancing the tranquility within himself and all those surrounding him and after overtaking the dark side, bringing those there into the light. Drawing in all evil to teach it the ways of the good. And finally scumming to death of ones former self to result rebirth in a higher level of consciousness within ones being. In the words of the book "And it was good", everything was thereafter good.
