The real live show probably didn't sound like this. They seldom if ever do. The shows are recorded, then the recordings are taken to a studio and every track is re-mixed and carefully produced in the studio.
So-called "Live" recordings are actually studio mixes--they're sonically a lot more like studio albums than what you'd think of as being a 'live' recording.

I love Billie's face at 37:12 when he's looking out at the crowd and just enjoying the thousands of people singing his words. Must be an awesome feeling to know that your words mean that much to so many people. It's like he's looking out at tangible evidence of the hard work they put in as artists and finally realizing how far they've come.

There are just no words for how fucking good green is live, there are good bands that sound decent from their songs in the studio, but billie, mike, tre and Jason put so much effort into every song and polish them to perfection, also props to billie for singing let yourself go whilst dancing and getting all energetic at 42 minutes into the show. the dudes 43

As a drummer I can only play 6-7 or maybe 8 songs on this pace but these guys went insane on this concert I cannot believe how they played 2+ hours. This band is one of the best rock bands of all time by a country mile...
Tip to playing longer, you don’t need heavy ass sticks, get light ones. Warm up before playing, do exercise with your legs and arms/wrists

Tee’s strength and endurance are unmatched. The speed and the strength are incredible. Curious if he works out or has to play a lot to prepare for tours. At this point I’m sure he’s been doing it so long it’s just a part of him.

Very perceptive that, absolutely no physical likeness but as with all good lead singers, you are automatically drawn to them. Look at strummer, that's who Billie Joe got his moves from. I wish people would stop putting Jason down- he's been playing with Green Day for half their commercial career, they were previously always branded as if there were only three people playing everything! Plus, he was playing with Billie in Pinhead Gunpowder years before, and appeared in music videos for When I Come Around, Wake Me Up When September Ends, 21 Guns and Last of the American Girls (before he was declared an official member)!

Green Day will prove to be one of the greatest bands of all time - just based on the impact they had on a generation alone qualifies them. As a 90’s kid, dookie came out as I was getting ready to go to middle school and it was literally an answer to prayers. Taking the young millennials out of grunge and introducing punk was exactly what we needed. Green Day gave it to us. Thanks guys

@@rahe2141 I mean I see what you’re saying but it’s hardly uncommon for legendary bands to put out less than stellar albums towards the end of their career...but....Green Day actually puts out albums where their singles go on major motion pictures and make spots on modern radio. That they remain relevant to this very day only cements them further. Unfortunately I think they’ll be respected more than they are now by future generations once they are already gone.

@@rahe2141 the Trilogy is fun and I stand by that. And FOAM is rough I’ll admit. But god those songs have grown on me. And in between those albums we got Revolution Radio, in my opinion, one of the greatest albums they’ve ever put out. I think they will have one more great album soon. I don’t think they’ll fade away without one more hit.

7 years later, in an obscure city, on a computer, through a pair of awesome speakers, I can feel every ounce of energy on that stage.
Arguably, this is the peak of Green Day.

I hope when they start touring this year, they play Insomniac all the way through at a concert since 2015 is the 20th anniversary of that kickass album.
They're probably not gonna start touring until somewhere around the end of 2016 but I can't confirm anything

Can'tplayvidgames Billie Joe posted on his Instagram a picture of letters saying "Green Day 15" and teased that they were doing something in 2015. This post was before they knew if they were getting into the RnR Hall of Fame, so it's not that. So, they're probably putting out an album or gonna start touring again.
It's crazy how the crowd sings along to Boulevard of Broken Dreams without any cue... it's amazing how engaged the crowd is. I'm a huge fan of Green Day, but this is on a whole 'nother level.

I was there and trust me when I say that that atmosphere was the loudest noise I have ever ever heard, the mic's don't do the crowd justice, there were 100,000 people in the crowd and at least 90% knew all the words and were literally screaming them. Goosebumps
I had the same experience at soundwave in australia a few years ago we literally did THE WHOLE SONG billy only sung one line, top 5 moments of a gig in history for me

There is a comment on this video saying that this is good, but My Chemical Romance are better live... back in 1994, and earlier, Green Day's live performances were better than most pop rock bands will ever be.
This, Woodstock '94, Brixton Academy '95 and Milton Keynes '05 are, for me, the best evidence of why Green Day outclass all bands who Green Day are compared to. For me, Green Day shouldn't be being compared to bands like Blink-182, MCR and bands like that - no offence if you like them, just saying that Green Day shouldn't be compared with them, I mean, they're officially in the Rock and Roll HOF next year, what are My Chemical Romance gonna achieve like that? Green Day and Foo Fighters are the only modern rock bands that can be compared with the old greats.

I've seen Green Day five times and they're always at their best at festivals. It's like the energy goes up and Bille Joe is on a mission to win over those in the crowd who aren't Green Day fans. Like them or loathe them, they're one hell of a live band and Bille Joe is an incredible performer with or without his guitar.

Old guy here who's been listening to them since 94 - and i like their new stuff, its different, but still good. :) I was a bit iffy about the trilogy at first, but they've grown on me since.. and Revolution Radio is superb.

You probably never saw Muse, Green Day are great but they are not there YET.
muse is great too but green days live performances arr even better than recorded.especially billie can fucking sing for 12 hours without break.and im just talking about performance. if you include visuals of shows daft punk would fuck them all.i have been their 7 concerts and all of thrm blowed me away. yes maybe muse s songs can be better or green day would has the worst songs but they better playing them better than any other group..

I 100% understand. I also lost a parent at a young age. That song means a lot to me too. I can't sing it without breaking down either. And "thirty years has gone so fast" ohhhhhhhh boy it's ok i didn't really need my heart.
Now that I’ve also lost my parents as a teenager the song hits so much harder and I can’t imagine the strength it takes for him to sing it
