My wife and I will be touring Egypt and Jordon for two months. We have experience travelling but we were somewhat concerned about the war in Gaza/Lebanon and how it may effect our trip. I thank you for the current information regarding safety and putting our minds at ease in this area. We spent some time in Morocco and the vendors soliciting potential customers can get annoying but keep a perspective from their point of view. They are trying to support their families as well and they are just trying to make a living. Capitalism at its finest. Very excited for our upcoming trip because we have watched many of your videos in preparation and planning. Thank you.

You give off an air of self confidence and fearlessness which helps protect you from those wishing to bring you harm. There's a lot we can do to keep ourselves safe when traveling, and the rest is just luck of the draw. I had my wallet stolen in China that was 100% preventable and my fault. All part of the travel experience. Have a great week! 😊

Went on a 17-day group tour of Egypt with Overseas Adventure Travel in March 2023, and honestly felt safer than I do in my hometown of Eugene, Oregon, where on two recent separate occasions a woman was raped in broad daylight on jogging trails near the city. Agreed regarding "verbal" harassment by vendors and kids trying to sell stuff, just annoying and easily ignored. Physical security was top-notch. It was a spectacular trip and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend folks travel to Egypt, it's a wonderous place indeed!

My wife and I been in Egypt twice and we enjoyed it very much. Safety, food people. In fact we just came from Istanbul, Turkey and we had very bad experiences. We have been scammed many times from the Taxi, restaurants, hotels etc. if they found that you from USA they will have a feast with you. Food is funny you would be lucky if you get spoon , napkins, etc with your meals. We appreciated Egypt more after our visit to Turky.

Another informative video, thank you. When I was in Egypt in 2010 I found the country far more organized and cleaner than I remember it when I was previously there in 1972. When I told my relatives back in Toronto how impressed I was, I was told by my own kinfolk that I was misguided because I had stayed in Heliopolis and that Heliopolis was not emblematic of the country. As I watch your video as you stroll through Cairo I have to ask myself, is Egypt really a third world country? I did not see a single homeless encampment, a single beggar panhandling on the street. I did not see a lineup at a food bank or multitudes lining up to apply for a single job. Egypt certainly doesn’t have a problem with immigration and mass migration. I am starting to think that western countries like Canada, the United States and Europe are the third world or quickly becoming so.

Honestly, I've found all your videos very valuable because so many bloggers and vloggers are alarmist about Egypt, then they complain about things I knew from reading guidebooks at age 12. I hope that I'm about 10 years away from my trip. I'd kind of like to make Egypt my home base like you have--I've mentioned it to you before, but I'm just one voice in a crowd, I'm sure--and come and go from Alexandria. That would give me a beach at home and, having been in Classical Studies, Alexandria just suits me. I expect to be late 50s/early 60s by then. Hopefully, all the young men will have calmed down, but if not, I've also been dealing with that since I was 12. Ain't nothing but a thing, as they used to say. 😂
I promised my dog if it's just her and me, that we'll go to Albania together. I read that many breeds became illegal in Egypt in the summer of 2023 and most require expensive licensing. Although she's only about 8 lbs, she's not on the list of the safe breeds. So Egypt will have to wait for me because the pups come first.
What put this in my head...I read a book where a 20-something was working in the US to feed her travel habit. I thought I should have done that in my 20s. Then it hit me that I'm looking at a very hard time in the near future and maybe selling up everything afterward and going is a good idea. I'll need it then.

Thank you Hossam! I live in Cairo, and that is the reason why I have many videos about Cairo. But I have also taken buses around the country and made videos in places like Hurghada, Dahab and Siwa. I rode my motorcycle across the country 2 years ago and made videos in Minya, Luxor, Aswan and Abu Simbel. Earlier this year I rode my motorcycle to the Fayoum Oasis and made videos there. And I will soon be taking another road trip to different cities and make more videos in other places as well. Eventually, I will also visit Port Said again (I've been once before but didn't film when I went) and make videos there too.

Great video Gisselle! I 💯 agree with your point of view, everything will depend on your attitude, I mean verbal harassment is something that will never end and happens all over the planet 😂😂 here in Latin America is the same so, as long as they don’t try to touch you or do anything else it’s ok we just ignore 👍🏻 I still have the feeling that Egypt is more safe compared to South American countries you just have to see the news in Mexico Peru or Colombia is crazy 🥴 I wouldn’t be afraid to go to Egypt, of course we have to get as much information as possible about the country!…. Hi GG I just got back from a guided tour in Egypt. We had security on the coach with us in Cairo just for added safety which they have been doing for years. Once we got to Luxor on the cruise we had no security just tour guide. I can honestly say at no time in my 7th time there have I ever felt unsafe. It’s a beautiful country that has had issues over there yrs just like here in the uk. I have heard them say things to me like Nubian, brown sugar and other things. I pay them no mind even though it is a lot and annoying. But and no time have I ever felt threatened. But that is my opinion because I’m pretty good at putting up a barrier shield. They did have a lot of undercover tourist police which, and I thought they were so good. Egypt just gets a lot of bad press when anything happens. Great video as always ❤

During a trip to Mexico in 1985 as a teenager, I was taking pictures while sitting in the tourist bus. I noticed a lot of military soldiers near the Chichen Itza pyramid and tried to take a picture. The bus driver screamed NO. I had no idea it was dangerous. While in China, my sister and I got off the tourist bus to buy something, she got back on and I was surrounded by peddlers, ENGULFED. The bus almost took off without me, I had no idea where I was. Frightening. There’s different degrees of danger everywhere. I try to live with it.

Sadly my experience in Egypt (particularly Cairo) last month was not so pleasant. Unfortunately I got robbed - my phone, hotel keys, debit cards.. I mean probably stupid me carrying everything around, but still. I was dumb enough to get scammed on multiple occasions; you really have to be assertive with people about the price of things or if you DON'T want something. And lastly, I experienced a LOT of harassment. I am male but still was propositioned frequently and even by very young guys basically kids, OR on the other hand told to cover my shoulders, button my shirt, wear long pants. The second half of my stay I was traveling with my partner (who is from Saudi) who was able to translate the comments directed at me which were, honestly.. miserable. The only place I felt comfortable was a mall in Heliopolis! That being said, I want to say that Egypt is beautiful, the sights were amazing and breathtaking. Just be prepared. It's obvious not everybody has an experience like mine so I'm putting most of it down to bad luck! But be safe people. GVentures I still adore your channel!!! It helped me A LOT!!!!!!!

That was many years ago - and I think anyone attempting to do that to me now is in dire need of either a comprehensive eyesight test, or a white stick. Gisselle - Thank you so much for the work you do on your channel, thanks to your videos I had a much better understanding of the country and culture for when I traveled with my brother and father back in July.
I was wondering, if possible, could you cover the Taba border crossing at the Israeli border? We traveled from Jordan by land down at Aqaba to Eilat, then from Eilat to Taba, but when I reached Taba the Egyptians would not let me bring any of my cameras into the country. I payed around 150$ to have them shipped to Cairo to be picked up on my way out of the country. It was an unexpected and frustrating experience, but I did get my cameras back in perfect condition, and my time in the country was still amazing. I just would love to see if you could cover it and help other potential travelers not get caught if they are traveling the same way I was.
I did feel very safe in Egypt, even down at Taba despite the inconvenience there. I hope I can visit the country again sometime in the near future, and thanks again for the awesome and inspiring content!

Thank you for your video. Egypt is absolutely safe. Unfortunatelly I was in that country with very long history recently for just several days. One should be aware, as you mentioned, of cultural differencesand and how avaerage Egyptians live. Sexual herassment, unfortunatelly, is more dominant among the locals. I see that as a consequence of their conservative society where any women is "easy" if she shows her elbow. Everyone should keep “low profile” and not dress provocatively for their views. I would recommend guides for Giza pyramides to avoid long walks and various scammers, but more importantly to have someone to tell you about the Egyptian hystory. Having someone at the Egyptian Museum is, also, a good idea.
One of the things that was not mentioned in the video are beggars. I have been approached numerous times by small kidds asking for some money even in mosques. So, be prepared to have small paper banknotes all the time. I should not make judgments but it is a country with real Muslims and Orthodox Christinas. That can be recognised by their deeds.

Gisselle, once again a great discourse on aspects of life in Egypt.
It was good that you took us round the streets while you were talking - I love that!
Yes, we can all get harassed to a certain degree wherever we go in the world, especially as a tourist, but I agree with you that Egypt really doesn't stand out alone as being worse than many other countries.
I think it's fair to say that women do need to take certain extra precautions in certain scenarios, but again that's not unique to Egypt. (I hope I don't sound sexist saying that - I don't mean to)! And, as you say, men could also feel vulnerable in specific circumstances as well. But taking care generally, and being aware of your surroundings, goes a long way to staying safe, whether you are a man or a woman, especially when traveling on your own in any country.
Am I remembering right that the police actually retrieved your phone when it was snatched by those two youngsters on their bike, because you were able to show the cops the footage of the incident from your 'action' cam, and they caught the individuals?
Anyway take care as always, Gisselle, and thanks so much for treating us to the benefit of your wide experience of travelling, not only in Egypt but in other countries too.

Lol no it's not sexist at all, it's true women need to take more precautions than men, it's just one extra thing we have to take into consideration, unfortunately. But yeah, any traveler anywhere should take certain precautions to ensure personal safety. In fact, they don't even need to be traveling, just precautions and awareness in general, even in one's own city, should be considered! And you are right, the police did find my phone and return it to me! I can't believe I forgot to finish that story in this video! There was so much on my mind that I wanted to say, I guess I forgot to mention an essential part of that incident, and on the topic of safety no less! Unbelievable 😅🤦‍♀️ Anyways, thanks William, I enjoy your comments 🙏

We are truly sorry to hear from you that there is verbal and physical harassment and I hope that this bad phenomenon will end in my country, but unfortunately there is a fundamental reason from my point of view.. We Egyptians and Arabs in particular, who govern our morals is our commitment to the teachings of the Islamic religion and not the positive law, but unfortunately the teaching of religion in schools has been neglected and there has been an attempt to spread secularism over the years in addition to an attempt to spread Western culture and pornography through social media and other means and media until it reached the point where on some beaches, for example, some people mock a modest woman swimming in the sea, just as is happening now in some Western countries, such as attacking a modest woman, and also, for example, when natural disasters occur in Western countries, incidents of theft and armed robbery spread, unlike in Muslim societies because what governs a person is his morals and not positive laws. Once again, I hope that this negative phenomenon will end and that we return to our morals and the teachings of our religion.

    • @MustafaAdelAli
      @MustafaAdelAli 11 годин тому +1

A belief system can shape morals, but it does not ultimately cause a person to do something, whether considered good or bad by that system. I have lost count on how many bad things were done in the name of believing in "good".

@hosamrezk5769 From my point of view, @MustafaAdelAli is correct. I have traveled around the world and experienced many different cultures and religions. In my opinion, safety doesn't have so much to do with religion as it does just people and humanity in general. There are good and bad around the world, regardless of their beliefs. As an example, Japan is not a religious country at all, but it is ranked as one of the safest countries in the world.

What I see are two sectors.
The first one is for Egyptian citizens.
Egypt is probably safe as long as you don't use your political, sexual, or religious freedom and do not say anything the idiot society doesn't like.
Except for things like getting robbed, having an ugly bastard drive on you, or getting sexually assaulted (Especially for girls), these things are so common and easy to happen in a country that almost doesn't have a single stop sign or traffic light, ranking 136th out of 142 in Rule Of Law Index, Having people that are extremely horny because sex is haram.
It's not worth it for me tbh.
I've been trying to get out of this ugly country by making money and immigrating cuz I cannot tolerate this stupid society.
But for now, since I've got a threat of imprisonment and torture for being agnostic and criticizing Islam, there's no choice.
For visitors, I think you wouldn't face any trouble as long as you just have fun staying far from people.
