what i love about calisthenics is that the basic poses looks so easy on video, but when you actually try it you realize how hard it is, and they're still called beginners poses
Since everyone is saying got it in 30mins for those who can't get it it took me over a month and could barely even get my arms under at the start so don't give all, practice makes perfect.
This was a great tutorial. I managed to get the full thing for 5 seconds after only 30 minutes of practice following the progressions from the video. Thanks Simon!
@@TimTim-dq2nf lean forward. Its all about leaning and balancing. If your legs arent lifting off the ground youre not leaning forward enough. But lean too much and youll hit your head
if ur still having trouble, here's a couple tips. if u gave up, try again lol try to create a banana that's not too curved but curved enough. my method is where u place your elbow around the middle of where u would place both your arms, but not entirely in the middle. for example if I was using my right arm, I would place it in the middle but not all the way, I would make sure it's still a little to the left. after that, practice and find your balance, and experiment. the way I do it tho is I put my elbow in the position I explained, then I lean a little to the side, pressing my fingers on the ground as hard as I can, and I treat it like a handstand. I lean onto my fingers and press hard so I get that centerpoint of balance. after that I try to put my legs up and then try to hold it for time. finger pressing is a great underrated way and I feel like that's why most people fail. I'm at a 4 sec hold for this and I just came back to it like 3-4 days ago when I didn't learn it before lol after applying all this, just practice. watch tom merricks tutorial
@@prathix4339 so? what if he gave up or is still struggling? u could train these skills for a long time and still not make any progress if you're training incorrectly (let's not mention this was also 5 months ago)
It took me 3 days to learn this and my wrist and stomach were completely dead after i could finallly do it. My main tip is to place your wrist 190 degrees from the natural position, this puts less pressure on the wrist and you will be able to focus more on the balance which is not hard. With this tip you can probably learn this move a lot quicker.
I did the elbow lever is a skill that i accidentally discovered like months ago without knowing what it was called or how to do it and today i finally figured out it's name
if not then just practice. learn the correct hand position (my personal fav is 4 and 8 o'clock) cuz the palms of your hand help u balance easier than your fingers, plus it's way easier on your wrists. after that then just lean forward. look straight down at the floor below your chin and don't look anywhere else. that helps for everyone
Advice for you (im not an expert so im just telling you my experience) if you can do 25 pushups, you can achieve the elbow lever withing one day, just keep foing it again and again (of course in breaks.)
I am 11 and I do this for 6or 7 times while looking this video and I can do it for 9 or 10 seconds and I am trying to do it for 30 seconds thank you for teaching☺️😁
a few months ago i found out i can already hold a full elbow lever for a few seconds with no practice. a few weeks ago, still with no practice, i found out i can hold a full one and a half arm elbow lever for a few seconds, where i use the fingertips on my assisting arm. too bad this is the only calisthenics skill i'm not struggling with lol.
I can’t even get into position, for some reason my elbows don’t even touch my belly and if it does only one arm is able to. I tried rotating the wrist in all directions but I always end up with the same problem.
Man i can position the arms correctly while im standing up, but as soon as im trying it, i cant find the same spot anymore and i keep getting skin burns from my arm slipping out
@simon: you have some strange aliens living in your trizeps :DDDDDD great inspiration!!!! Do you think this form is a help for getting a full planche done?
Why is there so much tension, pressure on my wrists and bottom of the back of my neck? How can do this more consistently with less tension in then wrists ? I'd love to get progress to 1 arm but I the longest I've held 2 is 10 seconds so I don't feel comfortable at all yet going onto 1 hand smh unmake it look so easy . That 1 freestyle clip was nuts !
If you still experience tension on your wrist, try a different hand placement like putting your hands 180 degrees from the natural position. This puts less pressure on the wrist and makes it easier to balance
try to stretch your writs before you do it. Also, that longer, you train your wrists the stronger they will get which will make them hurt less overtime.
No one ever mentions that you need a flat stomach for these moves! I can just about get an elbow lever but I can’t hold it because my elbows slip off my slightly rounded tummy! 🤣
Damn, guess I can't do it, I started putting some weight on a couple months back because of a bad diet change, guess I picked a bad time to start, my wrists are killing me after trying it a few times and I just can seem to hold It at all
Why can’t I lift my legs off the floor. I’m not the weakest guy can do 45 push ups 10 pull ups and L sits but I’m struggling getting my legs off the floor. I feel like I have 0 control over my legs
Why can I not breath in this position? I feel like I'm doing everything correct but feel like I'm crushing my midriff and cannot breath so am limited to how long I can hold position, thanks for anyones time and help 👍
