You got the idea here. They are criticized by a small minority of people from their own country (mostly) who think they abandon Their own culture by singing in English. There is the additional complaint, usually from the same people who believe their family is rich and the girls had it so easy because they had everything given to them. In fact, their parents are professionals, Their father, Luis, is a civil engineer and their mother, Mony, is a dentist, so they are middle class but not rich in the sense that these critics mean. In their early days they were given instruments and equipment by fans who saw the great potential they had, but they have always been grateful and humble for the support they've gotten from fans and openly acknowledge it. We all know that giving someone a good guitar or drum kit is not going to make them superstars. They've worked extremely hard since they were young, the hardest working people in the business in my opinion, to be where they are and all those arguments are completely empty. Your reactions are great and I appreciate the thought you put into it.

Narcisista is “Narcissistic” or “narcissist”. The key word in the song is “malinchista” a Mexican word for cultural trader. They were called this in the music press & (still today on the socials) for writing/singing in English. So Pau answered them…. In Spanish. This is their only song that’s a single only & not on any album (until their “best of” albums😂). The OG performance is Live @ Foro DiDi. You can figuratively literally see the venom coming from Pau’s mouth. & the source of “NEVER piss off Paulina or she will write a song about you….& sing it to your corpse”🤣. “if karma doesn’t hit you then I will” Paulina Villarreal.

Their first song in Spanish in response to the haters and as mentioned, the Foro Didi performance is full of anger and attitude and worth a watch. They get some hate for singing in English and some for a "privileged" background. Some people say their father has paid for all their success including paying for them to open for Muse and for tv appearances. Lots of silliness.

They are not an "up out of the barrio" story for sure. Middle class, not upper crust. Mom is a dentist, dad is I believe a kind of self-trained audio engineer. But these girls are talented and no amount of money can buy that. They benefitted from parental support. If I had announced to my parents I wanted to be a rock star, they would have told me to be more practical and maybe become an insurance salesman. Their parents, who had already paid for them to learn classical piano, actually bought them fairly good instruments to get started, and that was the beginning of what they are today.

Family support is a big plus to any budding performer, but it by no means by any stretch of reality a guarantee of success. These young ladies put it the long hours of hard work to be able to perform with level of confidence. Thank you and all that support The Warning.

Some Mexicans think that because they live in one of the richest Mexican communities, they must be rich an lazy which is generally true about privileged teenagers. However, their whole life shows they are not the type. They work really hard. So they are rather typical hard working Mexicans with a great work ethos, even as they live in a rich neighborhood. I think this is because they parents worked hard to be able to live there and the sisters have seen how much their mom and dad sacrificed for them.

They chose to honour the teachers and influencers that have helped them on their journey by bringing them onstage with them. In addition to Beto Ramos, Pliego Villarreal, bassist for Kinky, joined them for Revenant, and Pablo Gonzalez ( Ale’s Bass teacher and the one who challenged them to start writing) joined them on the first night. It's about anonymous people online saying Pau is a malinchista because they write the majority of their songs in English, instead of Spanish. The song is a big FU to those people. Pau was doing a little musical theater in this performance, acting out the character portrayal of The Narcisista; given all the contrived hand gestures and attitude. Entertaining and simply brilliant.

The Warning are very good at mixing up their voices to make different flavours of harmonies. Recently it seems that Dany has taken over singing the first half of the 2nd verse for Narcisista live. Pau has talked about how it's at the very bottom of her natural range and so it's hard for her to get much volume into her sound there, probably helps with keeping her voice stable while touring. They said Dany has the widest natural range and so it's easier for her to get down there to sing that part. Either way, I love this song because they own it so much. Hearing this in person last month was one of the funnest moments of my life, and probably most of the other fans there judging by how loud it was.
What amazes me about The Warning Army is how so many know and love not just all three of them on stage, but the whole team. There is massive respect shown by the fans for the manager, parents, techs, and especially for the cats.

Pau is a tiny five-foot-nothing! 😁 She doesn't play sax, but Dany and Ale do; Dany still has hers. Pau is in high-heel ankle boots, but she doesn't play with them or other shoes on. She mostly plays every show in just her socks. However, of course because of safety and cleanliness, she'll walk to and from backstage in shoes and remove and keep them aside on her drum riser.

I fell in love with this song the moment I first heard it when it was first premiered. It is probably my second favorite. The tale goes that this was Pau's response to a newspaper review column criticizing them for singing in English. As far as I'm concerned, she went easy on the guy... but then, he was a respected music journalist and she was just a 15-year-old girl, and the ladies had been taught to respect their elders.
This is a stand-alone tune, not on any album. Also, Beto is more than a musical mentor; he's done a lot of work on the sound production side of things, and as you can see is very talented in his own right. During this show, while Dany and Ale knew he'd take over drumming while Pau came down on stage to sing, they had no idea what she would do or where she would move. Dany commented later that she almost clocked Pau upside the head with her guitar more than once. 😋
We love William, and his taste in music!!!

They usually switch who does the high and low harmonies depending on the song. Dany has the bigger range out of the three and she can reach higher notes than Pau, tho.

Pau is 5'0". Dany is 5'3". Ale is 5'8". Dany looks tiny when on stage with (for example) Halestorm or Three Days Grace. They look so much LARGER when no one else in on stage. (They certainly SOUND larger). 😆 You can see the difference in their heights at the end of concerts when they hold hands and bow. Lzzy Hale described them as "tiny and fierce". 🤘😎⚡

Have been enjoying the your reactions! I have a different kind of suggestion... I think it will be great if you could modify the ratios on the displays of yourself and the videos you are reacting to, so that more of the videos been reacted to could be seen. as it is, it seems that your display is just on top of the music videos and some times it feels like we are missing parts of the performance and even of things you might be reacting to, and we do not see because is happening behind you! Still glad to watch your reactions.

Dany has short legs, but Pau has very short legs, and in thick socks she's only about 4'10" which is the same height as Haruna, the atomic powered jackhammer for Japanese metal band Lovebites. No shame being "short" when you can outhit grown ass men twice your weight.

If you can, you should also check out the Foro Didi performance of this song - with Pau singing it while on the kit. Also, it's the first time performed for an audience.

The ending of many spanish words are gender specific. In those cases, ending a word with the letter O denotes masculine and A denotes feminine. Narcisista is a female narcissist.

    • @alexj9603
      @alexj9603 2 дні тому

Well, in most cases yes, but words ending in -ista always end in an a, regardless of gender.
A male version of the song lyrics would end in "condenad*o* narcisist*a*".
I have heard male cover bands sing it this way.

I love the Pepsi Center show but I have to lean towards this one as my favorite. Its doesnt have the crowd mics or as big of a stage production. I just think they are a bit cleaner here.
Pau claims 5 foot but......? Dany is only 5' 3". Paulina is really expressive here. Lets the Mexican attitude flow just as the song is an attitude.
